I was, but only for a year. The subjects they had us debating were unbelievably boring (Be It Resolved: Admiral So-and-So was Justified in Using the Such-and-Such Manoeuver During Thus-and-Such Naval Battle in 1751). The volunteers they had judging the debates were random, untrained, unqualified individuals from the community that judged winning teams based on how much the judges agreed with the pro or con side of the argument, which was farcical because teams couldn't pick which side of the argument they wanted to support. It's unfortunate, but my school was small, debate wasn't popular, and it was the best they could do. I tried it for a year and then moved on to bigger and better things.

You would have excelled in it, I'm sure. I'd hate to have to go up against you. You are very convincing!
