For all you investors who keep up with everything.
I have 1 (one) share of AC-Lucent that was a free-be years ago from some deal that I don't remember now. Got a HEAVY packet in the mail today, Nokia is offering to exchange shares.
ALU closed at 3.91 according to MSN and Nokia closed at 6.82.
What would you do with such a small stake in anything

Is there a transaction fee?
Will you end up with one share again?
Do you have the cash out option? If you have this option, take it and go on your way.

At this point I would take it. You will receive a fractional share of Nokia, if you sell it would cost more in fees than the stock is worth. Here is a link for the deal : seekingalpha.com/news/2844236-nokia-alcatel-lucent-get-all-regulatory-clearances-for-deal-to-proceedas a side note - I ended up with a fractional share of GLW when I sold because of my own error. Now I am stuck with it. I am reinvesting the dividends so who knows - maybe some day my great (great) grandkids will end up with a couple of shares each.

check your packet. Sometimes if you hold only a couple of shares, they give you the option of selling the shares to them. I was in that position some years ago, and they just sent a check for the proceeds, no fees charged, if I remember correctly. I am sure there is an 800 number in the packet, or website that can help with an answer.

Thank you all!
If I get a fraction of a share, I could give that to my grandson to try to get him interested in stocks! He is familiar with Nokia.
