I like the look of the dressy short, but I'm not allowed to wear them to work so what's the point of getting them? To look nice when you're out and about in the summer! shorts that short also ride up (big thigh problems). When I want to look dressier on the weekends I wear sundresses/maxi dresses/skirts. The dressy shorts are definitely cute, but trust me no one wants to see me in a nice outfit constantly pulling at my upper thighs.

I have issues with shorts as well. I am never going to get into women's sizes (ducks objects being thrown at her) so I still buy my jeans and stuff in the junior's department. Unfortunately the junior's department is still full of hot pants. DH said he'd like to see me wear them, but I doubt the rest of the public wants to.
I am opting for more sundresses/skirts as I get older. I feel like I look a lot better in them than shorts and I am a lot less self conscious.
I have an A line jean skirt that hits me slightly above the knee, that's my go to on weekends. Then I have several other skirts/sundresses.
I just found a really cool multi-colored skirt at Goodwill. I could create enough outfits to last a week with that skirt just by changing out my top, jacket, shoes or accessories.
Lately I've had good luck finding accessories at Goodwill and the Salvation Army. I am one of those weirdos that enjoys sifting thru the crap to find the treasures. Yesterday I found a really cool glass pendant for $4 that will go with a ton of my clothes/shoes.
For jeans I used to purchase them at Vanity, but then they went and messed with their sizes so I can't purchase from them without trying them on in person and the nearest one is out on 90th and Dodge.
I had someone recommend Maurice's to me so I checked them out and they are now my go to. They have a lot of selection in terms of cut, waistline and inseam. I love that they have "extra short" inseams which is 28 inches. They also have "short", "regular" "long" and "extra long". They run sales constantly as well. I got my two pairs of "work" jeans for $45. Not too shabby.

Anyone have any suggestions for weekend clothes? I have fallen into the trap of having only work clothes and pajamas. It's a struggle to find something other than a t-shirt and jeans when I go somewhere on the weekend. (Not that there's anything wrong with that outfit, but if we are going out to dinner or to a party it would be nice to have something a bit dressier). I am short (5'2") and a size 2-4, if that helps. 1. moving on... 2. I went to a store I'd normally avoid as being too "hip" for me and basically threw myself at the mercy of the sales lady. Apparently it worked, DH has certain ummm... outfits that get requested on the weekends. Way outside my comfort zone but I'm getting better with it. Who knew that the right bra could actually give you a waist? Or that a bit of skin is ok for a plus size gal (yea - I know not your problem - see #1). Even my daughter says one outfit in particular makes me look "badass".

I am opting for more sundresses/skirts nowadays I can find a nice jean skirt that hits me at the knee or slightly above pretty easily and inexpensively. I found a nice multi-colored skirt yesterday at Goodwill, I can create many outfits with it just by switching out the tops/shoes.

unless you're a quadruple zero, you should be able to fit into some small misses/misses petite sizes.

If we're going out to a nicer dinner I'll wear dark skinny jeans, kitten heels, and a blouse or shell. Fancy dinner I'll wear a dress. I did buy red sassy pants from Loft a few weeks ago that i have been wearing the hell out of. One of my favorite top combos is a black with white polkadots shell, multi-strand of turquoise beads necklace, and a mustard colored cardigan. Goes with jeans and nice pants. ETA: The H&M basics lime has really great tanks and tees. I love how their tanks are (torso!) and they have 3/4-sleeve length jersey tees that fit and look great, be it paired with jeans or a skirt.

midjd, I admit my go-to on the weekend is a fitted tee/graphic tee, jeans, and my brown Converses/flip flops. I've started to bring in more solid color v-neck tees to make me look a little less casual. I went through a polo phase, but I'm sick of them now. They certainly dress up a pair of jeans, but now I feel like they make me look less feminine.

I could probably justify a professional bra fitting too, since I think I've only bought one new one since weaning DD

I basically wear black comfy pants on the weekend and a nice shirt in case someone drops by or I need to run out to a store for something. I have an (almost) 7 month old so more often than I'd like what I pick out ends up spit up on and I have to go with a second or third choice before I can get out the door. Also (and I am not proud of this) I still sometimes wear nursing bras even though I stopped nursing at the end of January . I had to adjust to the feel of underwire again lol!

If you were closer I'd volunteer to go clothes shopping with you. I am mean girl fashion whore according to the boards, you want brutal honesty I'll give it to you.
Mid try going to Dillard's for a bra fitting. That's where I went and was really happy with the process.
Victoria's Secret is a joke. I found out that they lie about your bra size b/c it makes them more money if they tell you that you're an average size. They kept telling me I was a 34 B. When I got measured by an actual professional it turns out I am a 32 A.
Boy was that depressing.

I love helping people shop. I picked out the dresses for three coworkers for our gala last month. One kept showing me styles that were either unflattering for her figure or were appropriate for a bridal shower and not a black tie optional event, so I had to help. The other two are friends and know how much I love shopping so we all went after work for dresses and drinks. Well, the other coworker and I got cocktails after shopping as well. I think drinks and shopping go hand in hand.

I'm a 32A as well Drama, and sometimes even that's a stretch - I feel your pain! :/ but, I'm nowhere near as skinny as you so (I feel) it looks more mismatched on me, y'know? Ugh. I just found some super comfortable $10 sports bras at Walmart I'm pretty much going to live in all summer. Dresses can be a problem for me since I may be a XS or zero on top, but an XS or zero bottom part of a dress in no way would fit me. I'm happy flared skirts have made a comeback, because hips.

For cheap jewelry, especially if you're looking for trendy stuff, nothing beats forever 21 or h&m. It's definitely affordable for trendy pieces.

1. moving on... You gonna share what these requested/badass outfits are? I won't post pictures but I'll describe them. Outfit #1 - strapless pushup bra with a little jewel nestled in between the cups. DH knows the jewel is there and it drives him insane! I'm a 42-44D so I never though I could find a comfortable strapless that gave enough support, but it's so comfy I enjoy wearing it! Black lace. Nuff said. Strapless babydoll style top that just barely covers the support garmet, the bra gives the girls so much lift it really makes it look like I have a waist. Add in a pair of dark boot cut jeans that are perfectly fitted and I actually have an hourglass figure. The top has a print and the fabric is gathered over the girls, again drawing attention to them. I usually wear a shrug or black swing style jacket with this when going outside the house. I'm still not comfortable going entirely sleeveless in public but the amount of chest/skin I'm showing is new for me. Outfit #2 - Another pushup, this time with straps and hot red lace with a sold purple undershell. Over this I wear a very form fitting cami (again - who knew they even came in my size!!!) that actually looks pretty good, even without the losser fitting top I have to throw on over it (again - thank a very well made professionally fitted bra). Sorry - I will never go out in just a cami in my lifetime. The top is a grey on black lepoard print and you can just see the hot pink cami peeking out from under it. Add in black jeans, a black jean jacket, and kohl black eyeliner with bold earrings and this is the badass outfit DD likes to see me in. She's even asked me to show her how to do her eyeliner the same way - sure kiddo - when you're 16. After over 20 years of marriage I've discovered bare/almost bare shoulders are a major turn on for DH. He likes the outfits that give him easy access. The store is Torrid - it's a plus size store that I'm guessing is targeting the younger crowd (lots of skulls and bows on some of the clothes) but they have a decent selection of stuff I don't feel too silly wearing. AND I really appreciate when the sales lady would be honest and say something wasn't working for my body type. I tend to buy clothes that are a bit too big for me and they were very good about making me really look at myself in the smaller sizes. DH insisted on going with me the second time I went to shop there . Little background - I developed very early and had cleavage by the end of 5th grade. Yep, 5th grade. Took a lot of teasing and even groping from some of the boys and did everything I could to minimize the girls. The bras I always purchased were minimizers because I didn't really want to draw attention the them. Well now I've finally decided - to hell with that. It's taken me more time than it should to get comfortable with what I am, but I'm working on it. So yea, I'm a little arrested in some of my fashion development.

Sometimes I take my 23yo daughter shopping with me to stop myself from buying the same type of clothes over and over. We have different personal styles and of course an age gap, but she's a good fashion advisor. I also go to smaller stores where they start you a dressing room, make suggestions and bring you more things to try while you're in there. I don't feel bad about taking up their time because I only do that when I'm prepared to buy whatever I like. Shopping with DD and at smaller stores is how I end up getting things I never would've looked at on my own, but I'm glad I bought. Left to my own devices, I'd end up with just a million white shirts in different styles and a lot of jeans. I don't know what it is with me and white shirts. MJ2.0, I like 7 jeans too. Have you ever tried Lucky Brand? I have several pair of them. I only buy them when they have a sale though, I don't want to pay regular price for them. DD says she's seen them in Marshalls, if you shop there. I also like True Religion. They're expensive, so I only have a couple pair. And I stay away from the flashier ones because I'm old lol. I like all 3 brands because they magically give me hips. If you like the way 7 jeans fit you, you might like those other 2 also. I also have a lot of American Eagle jeans. I wear those to work. They give me hips too. I always buy them on sale and/or with coupons. I usually pay between $20 and $30 for them. That pretty much sums up what I would wear every day if I could. Jeans and a white shirt. Buying and coordinating anything else requires a bit of effort on my part. That's where my fashion advisor (DD) comes in. She enjoys helping me shop and put together outfits when I'm not sure what to wear and has absolutely no problem critiquing my clothes, whether I ask her to or not.

1. moving on... 2. I went to a store I'd normally avoid as being too "hip" for me and basically threw myself at the mercy of the sales lady. Also (and I am not proud of this) I still sometimes wear nursing bras even though I stopped nursing at the end of January . I had to adjust to the feel of underwire again lol! Now remember, I'm a plus size...the store is Torrid. I've also done the same at Dress Barn (hate the name, love the clothes). I tend to look for a saleswoman who's also plus size but looks really put together then I just tell them to push me out of my comfort zone. Get thee to a professional bra fitter! Like now!!! I actually almost was a size DD before I got pregnant with kiddo and went down a frigging cup size after I stopped trying to nurse her. None of my pre-pregnancy bra's fit me well and we need to feel as comfortable and good about our post baby bodies as possible. Again, another lesson that I learned far too late IMHO. If you're not a plus size I still recommend going to a store and checking out the sales ladies that are close to your body type and see if you like the looks they put together on themselves, then ask them to do the same for you. AND finally, it is very possible for an underwire to be comfortable. Yes, they're not cheap ($32-40 or more a garment) but a comfy bra that does it's job well is one of the best investments an gal can make IMHO.

I am going to ignore this thread until I loose the weight
After that, I will probably staple it to my mirror as it has some great ideas.

Well from what I remember when I saw you, you don't actually look like a whale that ate a pig or however you described it, so you should be able to wear cute clothes now if you want to!

I don't want to derail the thread, so I'll just say this. My mom was wearing a shirt that I liked so I asked her to give it to me. She did. The shirt looked great on her and I looked 6 mo pregnant in it. Need I say more?

So how many of you buy clothes on line?
I've never done it much. As it is, I take stacks of clothes to try on in the dressing room to find the few that fit. And I'm not even an awkward size (8ish) or shape.
I can't imagine ordering and returning clothes.
