So DH had minor surgery. Goes to the Dr's today to get the stitches out.
I sent him an e-mail..
me: How did your Dr's apt go today?
him: Good news - In/out in less than 10 minutes.
him: Bad News – they put Vaseline on the incision and covered it with a band aid. The Vaseline soaked through the band aid and stained by shirt. Said Vaseline and bandaid have been removed. }:-<
WTF!!!
I don't give a damn about the fricking shirt. Ok, yea, it's a customized Hawks Jersey and DH's really attached to it but still!!!
GRRRR!!!
(facepalms, slams head against desk, and starts muttering to herself)

Any major flaws besides wearing a nice shirt to an incision removal?
I'm glad though you are willing to give him away possibly. Read a shocking story about a woman who killed her husband, son and almost one daughter by poisoning them with anti-freeze. Reasons were son is PITA and didn't like husband. Oh and daughter(24yrs old) didn't pay her student loans.
He did a stupid thing, but I bet he's still your guy.

Aw, I've met Mr. Captain. He really is a cutie, as husbands go. Men are just big babies when it comes to boo-boos. You just have to accept that.

@rockit and Opti - I don't think he was counting on them putting Vaseline on the incision. He had a 7am appt and went in to work straight from there. Yea, hindsight being what it is, it would've made sense to bring an extra shirt. and, AND, AND - he can't understand why I'm upset with him. yea, I said "I do" 20+ years ago so he's still my guy, but at this moment he's a knucklehead! I just didn't know what all I was saying "I do"to!

The stain may not be permanent. Check to see what gets oily stains out before you wash it. I was going to bid on him if he did yard work but it looks like you decided to keep him

Or they completely ignore it until it gets really bad/infected and it's 5x as much trouble than it would've been if they'd have addressed it in the begining

I suppose it could be worse - a client just called me to say her husband just gave out his SS# over the phone. She was quite flustered and was doing damage control, so I have no idea who he gave it to or why, but yeah, I'd be pretty angry at that.

Dear mods, please delete this husband bashing thread. It must violate something in the COC.

Hands off!!! Yea, he makes my head want to explode, but boy does the man give good foot rubs! (goes back to muttering to herself) I might be interested in a short term trade now and then but no way do I want 2 of them. You mean kinda like a husband swap? Why do I think DH may be a bit more into that than me? Ok - I'll bite - Good points: mine is a good cook, actually does an amazing job organizing things when he puts his mind to it, does a great job helping DD with homework and tutoring her in math and knows how to fold the laundry I in his lap. Oh, and yea - he gives good foot rubs and has a nice ass (looky no touchy!) Bad points: He drives me fricking nuts!!! Has zero clue about anything financial up to and including how to balance a check book or pay a bills. He does stupid shit with his health sometimes and acts like he's immortal. Sometimes I swear the man has no self preservation instinct. Plus he's really not proactive in managing his side of the family relationship stuff. Oh, and he likes to go fast, like really fast (did I mention he's into roller coasters? ) Yours?

Use some blue Dawn detergent on the Vaseline spot before washing it. I would blame the doctor's office for not using gauze on top of the Vaseline.
Let your husband off the hook. He didn't know what the doctor's office was going to do.

Any dish detergent will help loosen/remove the stain - the trick is to take it off gently, & avoid spreading the Vaseline oils further - this can be done with a soft-bristled toothbrush. Rinse and repeat, removing as much as possible.
Then launder in the hottest water safe for that fabric - DO NOT put into dryer where any residual Vaseline will permanently set due to the heat. Once laundered, repeat with dish detergent and toothbrush again if stain is still visible. You might want to hang-dry first so you'll be able to see better whether the Vaseline has been washed out thoroughly or not.

I'm unclear on what your husband did wrong. You said "they" put vaseline and a band-aid on it. Who are "they"? Sounds like you should be pissed off at the doctor / medical staff. Do incisions usually bleed that bad when the stitches are taken out? Shouldn't they put something a little more on there if that is normal? If it isn't normal, should you get it checked out?
