For whatever stupid reason lunch didn't really do it for me and I now feel like I haven't had anything to eat all day. My backup oatmeal stash is empty and the greek yogurt from an hour ago didn't help.
I refuse to get junk from the vending machines. Seriously my stomach is growling and I'm kinda having a hard time focusing.
So help me out here peeps. What else should I stock my desk with for munchie emergencies (can't be refridgerated - that stuff tends to disappear).
Trying to stay healthy.
Can you tell I can't focus on work?

Kind bars - they don't have too much sugar, but have enough bite in them that they fill the gnawing void - I like the ones that have the chili powder or mustard for that extra bite. If you like really spicy stuff that clears your sinuses - the wasabi flavored chick peas from Trader Joes. Almonds or trail mix.

I like Chex mix. The bold spicy one.
I've never tried them but I am interested in those 3P snack things I've seen advertised.
In the winter I eat cup a soup it is low calorie & filling but I think it is high in sodium.
Lance Captain crackers (no joke).

I like to keep a jar of peanuts in my desk. Crunchy, salty, and pretty good for you. I also keep a jar of peanut butter.

I like trail mix with chocolate. Because trail mix without chocolate is just nuts. Dried fruit, like raisins or cherries, for something sweet.

I keep peanut butter and crackers (either wheat thins or triscuts). Sometimes I get the flavored triscuts-right now I have roasted red pepper and red bean. I also keep some kind of nuts, either peanuts or almonds. And M&Ms. I am never without a container of M&Ms. I can eat 5 or 6 at a time and it kills my sweet tooth and helps me start to focus again. I buy bags of regular, peanut, pretzel, peanut butter, and mix them together in an airtight plastic container. I know that doesn't help with the healthy part, but man they are good. And, because I studiously practice self control, they last quite awhile

Walnuts. About 6 are supposed to regulate your blood sugar. It worked for me when I was at a tennis social and realized that the food was not going to be served until much later. Nearly everyone had not eaten supper. I also use walnuts for after exercise as well as celery.
Life savors. Usually sucking on one will do the trick.
Chocolate animal crackers. About 16 crackers are 120 calories.
Zero calorie breath mints. Another item to suck on and freshen your breath, too. Mint small is supposed to have a calming effect.

munchies? Let's get serious here! A jar of pickled eggs and a jar of pig knuckles! Both of which should create: ... which would allow the Captain to cease the focus on work, to leave work and go home

I used to keep a bag of roasted, salted almonds and a bag of dried mango slices in my desk drawer. For some reason, I really like that particular combination. When I got tired of that, I switched to dried tart cherries and roasted, salted peanuts. Also Nature Valley Sweet and Salty Nut bars.

I buy a jar of unsalted mixed nuts from Costco (40oz) and mix 5oz each of raisins and cranberries to make a trail mix. I keep a baggie of this in my lunch bag all the time. A handful calms my munchies urge.
Also drink water ...... a lot of it.

I love bagel chips! I've always got some of those around. You can get them with sea salt, or garlic, or cheese ... but I really like the plain ones. Gooood muchies!

Will it make you all feel better to know that I had a big bowl of ice cream for dessert tonight?? I only have self control on the M&Ms because I know I have ice cream waiting for me at home. LOL

I cycle through a variety of munchies in my desk drawer: Crackers, pita chips, various types of granola/energy bars, a variety of nuts (cashews and pecans are current favorites). I also usually bring in a bunch of bananas and/or clementines every week. In our fridge I keep a stash of individual hummus packages and some string or Babybel cheeses.

I was at Sam's this weekend and saw a huge can of mixed nuts for $13. It's "good" fats and tastes good.

I did buy some Brookside mango and dark chocolate snacks. Not healthy, but so addicting!

I keep almonds at my desk, high in protein so I can munch a few at a time and it helps take the edge off if I'm feeling hungry or snacky.

Saveinla mentioned Trader Joe's. Any other TJ shoppers here who like their bagged snacks, nuts, etc and find the prices to be good? I'm heading over there next week for cranberry juice (their price on it is about $5 less per bottle than everywhere else here!). Their bagged snack variety seems to be very extensive.

Great suggestions peeps! I'm writing them down for my shopping this weekend. chiver78 actually turned me onto my favorite munchies. Baby carrots dipped in salsa! Yummers! Problem is, my salsa keeps disappearing from the fridge . It appears Newman's medium pineapple salsa is well liked. I need to get better about doing up individual portions at the beginning of the week.

I did what now? carrots are one of the last things you'd ever find me snacking on. yay that it works for you though... that does sound like a healthy snack! I have a huge container of cut up fruit in the fridge here, and a container of lowfat cottage cheese (which I know will make some people haha) that I'm working on this week. cantaloupe, honeydew, strawberries and raspberries right now. it varies based on what's on sale. at my desk, I've got a jar of PB and two things I impulse bought yesterday on sale - parmesan goldfish and l/f cheezits. I've been known to take a plastic knife and take two dips - one on each end - from the jar, keeping it from double dipping in case I want to share the jar with anyone else.

They have raw almonds for 5.99 (used to be 4.99). I like their prices on most nuts, since I don't have to worry about it going stale. They have roasted plantain chips (not sure if it's 2.49 or 2.99), seaweed snacks for 99c, Organic Olive Oil popcorn for 1.99. As you can see I shop at TJ every week - I go there mainly for their milk, yogurt and hummus (eggplant, edamame, spicy green one with coriander and green chillies), but end up with a lot more stuff.

Sorry you don't like carrots though, I love them! more for you then. if I can ever get over to Wegmans this week* I want to pick up some snap peas. I like those with the 100-calorie tubs of Wholly Guacamole. I bought a big box of those at BJs a couple weeks ago, haven't really gotten into them yet. my last trip to Wegmans, they were completely out of snap peas. seriously? *maybe that will be my lunch hour field trip. hmm...
