The easiest way would be to make levels. Level one, drunk at 17 peeing in public. Level two, teenagers having sex. Level three, rapists, level four, pedophiles or whatever.

Washington State Risk Levels Level 1 These offenders present the lowest possible risk to the community and their likelihood to reoffend is considered minimal. They normally have not exhibited predatory type characteristics and most have successfully participated or are participating in approved treatment programs. Many are first time offenders.
Level 2 These offenders present a moderate risk to the community and they have a higher likelihood of reoffending than the Level 1 offenders. They are considered a risk to reoffend, because of the nature of their previous crime(s) and lifestyle (drug and alcohol abuse and other criminal activity). Some have refused to participate or failed to complete approved treatment programs.
Level 3 These offenders pose a potential high risk to the community and are a threat to reoffend if provided the opportunity. Most have prior sex crime convictions as well as other criminal convictions. Their lifestyles and choices place them in this classification. Some have predatory characteristics and may seek out victims. They may have refused or failed to complete approved treatment programs.

Do I like it? No, I don't. However, these people were smuggling heroin into the country. Indonesia has very, very strict rules when it comes to drugs. It's a damned good idea to know the laws in countries you intend to visit. If you intend to break those laws, it's a damned good idea to know what the result will be if you get caught. Frankly, I don't feel particularly sorry for them. If they're not willing to use their heads, I'm not willing to shed many tears for them. Agreed, Mmhmm. I don't like it either. I can't, however, work up a lot of sympathy when they chose to do what they did. I do feel badly for their families who will have to suffer for their actions. People like this have probably played a part in a lot more deaths than any serial killer. Allegedly, they traffic in heroin. I'm betting the death tally for the drugs they have helped to provide to people have caused many, many more deaths than Ted Bundy or his ilk ever did. Not sure why some think serial killers are any worse. I thought about that angle- and it stinks IMO. These are the low level workers in the company- I don't recall any bankers that were caught money laundering for drug cartels being arrested when the proof was plain as day, don't see any drug kingpins facing the firing squad.
And really- I think that is a weak argument anyway- nobody is arresting the driver of the Budweiser truck that delivers products that kill waaaay more people than heroin and serial killers combined. A little perspective please notwithstanding the legality of the substance.

I wonder if they will execute anyone when one of their sweatshops full of children catches fire?

Had to add this:
Their attorneys filed another review at the Constitutional Court, but a spokesman for the attorney general's office told CNN on Monday that their legal options had been exhausted. "We do not have to wait for the constitutional review case filed by the Australians. The execution will go ahead as planned," spokesman Tony Spontana said.
Tony Spontana "Fuck Gaspar Gomez! And fuck the fuckin' Diaz brothers! Fuck 'em all! I bury those cockroaches!"

You may "notwithstanding the legality of the substance" if you wish but it doesn't make you right. Driving a beer truck is a legal occupation. Smuggling heroin is not.....kind of like serial killing. If you want to make drinking alcohol illegal and get that legislated, then we can probably compare the two. Until then....a little perspective please? As far as the "low level workers" and the rest of that? I'm not sure what that's all about.

Low level workers- drug mules- are at the bottom of the organization and paying the price while the people getting rich at the top are untouchable. And yes- we can compare the two just fine- you made the argument that since their enterprise leads to deaths killing them is somehow justified- and I am making the argument that is not- regardless of the legality of the operation. Is it OK for some Muslims to stone people to death for adultery just because that is the law in that country or is there a higher morality? That is my point- if we are going to kill people whose enterprises cause the death of others there are a whole lot of folks in the USA we could round up. Killing these men is morally wrong regardless of what their law says. BTW we did outlaw alcohol once- and I don't recall executing bootleggers.

Please point out where I said that I thought their execution was justified. I'll wait.

So get it over with already. Prolonging this seems cruel.

Maybe they will take volunteers for the firing squad in your state when they run out of drugs and you can kill someone yourself. Would you like that?

If I chose a firing squad job, then I'd do my job. There's jobs that suit most people. I defend me and mine, period. I could never be a respiratory therapist. I've had people tell me they could never deal with kids that have disabilities. To each his own.

Some people will applaud it. Those people scare me. To me it is like taking a step back to the dark ages. We all know that the DP does not reduce crime. I think the leaders of the country should be personally responsible for the killing, a hands on approach. This will save the hapless gov't employee who is suddenly told their job now includes government sanctioned murder.

It may not reduce people who kill but I t does reduce those who try it again. You know the laws of the country. Break them and suffer the consequences. Only countries who don't enforce their laws go to hell in a hand basket. Like the US.
