... (by illegally circumventing Congress). ... That seems to be too frequently lost when discussing this event. I am no fan of the imperial presidency. I think we needed to get the POW back. I wasn't involved in the negotiations so don't feel I am in a position to judge that. But the law seems really clear on what is and isn't in the President's power. It appears he overstepped it here.

Overstepping their authority isn't really a new thing with Presidents. With few exceptions they have all done it at least a little. The problem is Obama seems to do it every other day or so (I know he probably doesn't do it THAT often, but it sure seems like it).
