Everyone's so inspirational with how they've found an activity instead of just focusing on exercise. Not there yet
Weighed today. 5'7.5" @ 159.2 = BMI 24.55. Time to get serious again

bobosensei, I'm glad you mentioned that. I have a lot of PMS type issues and I hadn't thought about paying more attention to my food at the time to see if it helps any. I'm going to try to figure out if/how adjusting my diet will help. Thanks! Ombud, keep trying different things. Maybe you'll stumble up on something you really enjoy. I do try not to think of riding my bike as exercise, "excercise" sounds like work to me and I don't like work. Keep at it. You can do it! So I literally had to come up with a written schedule, since I have so much trouble fitting my bike riding into my life. If I ride my bike a lot, I don't get much else done. I need to figure out how to manage my time better and I couldn't seem to work it out in my head. Hopefully having a schedule to refer to will help me get back on track and get organized again, because I feel like my life is in chaos lol. Happy weekend everyone!

I went for a great 3.25 Mile walk around the neighborhood yesterday even though all I wanted to do was lay on the sofa! I have a weekend fit bit challenge going with a co-worker... That got me up. I hate losing. Unfortunately, my calf HURTS. I had a wretched cramp on Friday morning and it had been pretty tender ever sense. I am going to email my Dr. tomorrow and see if she can take a look at it. Hopefully it is nothing and I don't have to stop with the steps. Anyway- DH is taking notice of my smaller size/weight loss. He's been encouraging and offering up lots of compliments. He's been very sweet.
I have to say, I am much more excited about getting dressed and being cute. People at work have been complimenting me on how cute I look, I have simply been dressing better because I like how I look in my clothes! I missed that!
Flamingos mentioned vegetable servings... I need to up mine, for sure. I am going to work on that. Also- core work... Goal of the week.
Anyway, ready to take on another week! Let's do this!

So all I've done all weekend is eat birthday cake. And unless it was made with broccoli, I REALLY need to get some veggies soon. And I have 1.5 days of birthday celebration left!!! Tuesday afternoon is soon enough to get back on track right?

Last night I had acid reflux. I've never had it before. I woke up thinking I was throwing up. It happened a couple of times. And this morning I have a sour stomach. Bleh.
I took the dogs on a short walk this morning, I intended to go at least 2 miles but my stomach was making me uncomfortable. I am feeling better now. Maybe this afternoon I will be up for a bike ride or something.

My friend finally got back on her bike this morning. We went riding with a male coworker that's been riding bikes for years. We all have different abilities, but it was fun. It was her first time riding to the end of the trail, so she accomplished something. He showed me where the trail connects to another one to go further into the city. So now I know which way to go to add on to my 15.5 miles. I wanted to go for it this morning, but I kept quiet because I knew that would have been too much for my friend. I left them a couple of times when they were chatting. I was trying to work off some frustration lol. They didn't care. But we did stay together most of the ride. Sooo..... I'm back at my 15.5 miles and ready to aim for more.

For the first time in ages I went out and got some exercise. It's been ridiculously hot here, and still is. I did a fast walk for 6 miles. Not quite a jog as I didn't want to overdo it, but it was nice. Too hot for most people to be out on the path. Next time I will take a water bottle with me!

Step challenge update--I came in second place. I did reach my personal goal of 400,000 steps.
Now to work on losing weight.
Have a great day .

Glad to hear a few updates? How is everyone else doing?
I went to my fitness class again last week - I really like it! I did not go to the gym over the weekend. It was nice just to have a day where I didn't HAVE to get something done. I need to go this weekend and I should really figure out how to get there a third time. The problem is that I'm still nursing my baby. So I need to be home at a reasonable time after work to feed her. And she sleeps well at night most of the time- but I'm not ready to commit to a 5:30am or 6am work out yet... Even though that is what I need to do...
Weight is about the same. Food choices are mostly reasonable (with iced coffee thrown in) and I am trying to eat more because I am hungry all of the time! Weight is about the same. I have my second meeting with the nutritionist tomorrow. I think I will be giving up dairy.... I'll update y'all next week!

I'm going out for a long bike ride today. I usually only go 12km or so on my own, but I'll go closer to 25 or 30km today. I have to do something! I can't remember if I posted this here, but at the beginning of the week I had bad acid reflux that took 3 days to clear. I'm feeling better now thank god, but it was a reminder about how all this stuff is to improve my health not just to look good. And I am working to try to figure out what makes me want to binge in the first place. I started keeping a written food diary instead of logging stuff on sparkpeople.com. I'm looking for patterns and also writing down emotions and what is going on when I eat. So far I'm not eating enough in the morning which I know from past trial and error means that I am eating either too much at night or too late into the evening. I also decided to set some goals for exercise. I like how it looks when people post the numbers in a table format so I am going to start doing that. I know it looks like a lot, but it really isn't. In the first place I probably shouldn't include the dog walk as exercise. Back when I was doing 4-5 miles at a time I could, but the dogs are getting older and with the hot weather it is more pleasant to just go a bit slower so they can sniff more. My aim is to walk them 2-3 miles a morning, but I'm giving myself days to just do the minimum because there are times when weather or my schedule doesn't permit that much. The bike rides are intended to be my cardio, and because of intensity I'm going to aim for 60 minute sessions 3 times a week. And yoga is really more for my mental health than anything. I'm going to do the Yoga with Adrienne program during the day, and a different yoga for bedtime routine at night. I've been grinding my teeth and getting headaches, the yoga really seems to help with that. Once I get back into good habits I might add strength training back. I like stronglifts style weight training which is quick and easy, but for now I need to lose weight and my appetite gets too out of control for me to lose weight when I lift heavy.
| August Goal | August Actual | morning dog walk at least 2 miles | 25 days 15 days |
| bike | 11 days | 1 | yoga max 30 min | 15 days |
| pm yoga max 30 min | 15 days |

Well, I'm done with birthday celebrating. That means no more cake, no more eating out, and cutting back on the wine. So sad! However, I'm feeling better which is a good thing. It's amazing how little it takes for me to feel like crap anymore. I've been exercising right along, so that's a plus at least.
My fruit/veggie challenge is going ok so far. As I'm tracking things, I realize that I'm getting 4 servings of fruits and veggies regularly. It's that last serving of veggies that I'm having a hard time with. If the challenge let me do 3 servings of fruit and 2 of veggies instead of the other way around, I'd be golden! So now I'm off to figure out some dinner options that include more veggies.

checking in, it's been awhile. I'm not sure if I've checked in since I started my new job, actually, so here we go. for a few months now, I've been wavering in this 10lb deadband, and right now I'm sitting at the top of it. I've been making stupid food choices, and drinking a bunch while I'm out w/friends, and it all needs to stop. I joined a big dietbet game with a few of my girlfriends, where you win back your ante* if you lose 4% of your sign-in weight in whatever the game length is - in our case, just under 4 weeks. for me, that means 8lbs by 9/1. 8lbs is absolutely doable if I can clean up my act! *at least your ante. the way dietbet works is that when the game is over, the pot is split by everyone that met the 4% goal. the particular game my friends and I hopped in on is huge, and the pot is obscene. I've wasted money on worse things lol.... but seriously, if I'm cleaning up my act anyway, I may as well gain from someone else's half-assed commitment. today, I felt like hell when I woke up, at almost noon. funny how that happens when you're out til 4am after tearing up the bar. I hadn't been out to see my roommate play in awhile, so I tagged along (since I'd have a built-in DD...) and ended up going out for breakfast after the set. then we got home and played with the pup for a bit, so it was late by the time we called it a night. so today, I fought tourist traffic to hit the grocery store. I bought fixins for Cobb salads for work lunches this week, and a couple things to make a pot of chicken tortellini soup as well. I had pretty much everything else in the house for the latter. I didn't finish prepping all the salad fixins tonight, but I'll be able to do that tomorrow night. one work meal tomorrow will be some of that soup, I'll just grab something light near the office for the other work meal. (my new hours are 9-730, four days a week) I'll pack up the salad stuff for Tuesday and have soup/salad for my 2 work meals the rest of the week. I also took the pup for a walk tonight, it's been awhile for that as well. we've spent the past few weekends either at the beach or on the boat, I haven't seen my neighborhood in a long time! not tomorrow morning, but I will also be waking up earlier with the new normal, and taking her for a walk before I shower and get ready for work in the am. starting work so late (to me, anyway) means I can realistically plan to do that year round.

After reaching my step goal I too it easy. Well way too easy.
This weeks goal 90,000 steps. Maintain weight or have it move in correct direction.
Vacation was not good for the weight. Need to lose about 1.5 pounds to get back to pre-vacation weight.
Have a great week everyone.

chiver78 I've been wondering about you! welcome back! Stop partying like a rockstar and come back to us! missk82- interested to see how things go for you with the nutritionist! keep us updated! flamingo glad the birthday was great. hope you had some cake and wine for me! Things are moving along for me... I stepped on the scale yesterday and was down about a pound and a half. I think half of that is probably due to me chopping off 6 inches of hair, but whatever, I will take it! I keep saying it, but I really need to step up the core work. I have only been doing it about once a week. I need more. I bought 5 new pairs of pants in the next size down and they are all just slightly snug around the waist (where I carry weight) I also need to add in additional strength training AND yoga. I am going to set up a calendar for my workouts during my lunch time and have the alerts go to my phone. at least then i won't have the excuse of "I keep forgetting!!!"

I'm back, I promise! ;D today has been a day of grazing. had a bacon egg and cheese English muffin w/my coffee on my drive in to work, then a big Cobb salad for lunch. I had a cup (literal cup) of chicken tortellini soup around 6 while still at the office, and I just fished up half a small veggie-loaded pub pizza. I had to come out to my roommate's set for a little bit to check in for some house stuff, tonight's venue is right up the street. today was rainy and gross, and I've felt like a lump all day. going to set my alarm for early am tomorrow, will hopefully get out for a walk before work - with or without the pup. she was over the moon Sunday night when I took her all over hell and creation in the neighborhood for a long walk. definitely want to keep that going. we both need it! sent from my electronic distraction

Okay, things are going well for me. Even only having done a couple of days of yoga consistently I can tell that I'm making a positive change. Last night DH started in just after I finished my before bed yoga. I started to respond with my voice raised and I felt negative energy creeping in. I didn't intend to give an angry response, but I needed to raise my voice as I was in the other room. I caught it pretty quick and adjusted myself. And I think DH was baiting me a bit, and when it didn't work he stopped too. Normally I would have probably given into that and had a fight. Instead my sleep is improving and I'm making better choices during the day. I'm drinking 3 liters of water, and despite the fact that I have sweet tea in the fridge (which I normally would drink in a day or two) I'm only reaching for small glasses maybe once or twice a day. I am about to head out on the dog walk with the intention of doing 2 miles. I'll eat some fruit for breakfast, head back out for a bike ride, and finish with some yoga. That gives me enough time to shower, and make a small lunch around 11am. Then I'll do some errands and go to the grocery store. I'm in a vegetable rut. I haven't found any inspiration online, and not a lot looks good in the store lately... I'm determined to change this today though. | August goal days | August actual days | morning walk 2 mile min | 25 15 | 4 3 | bike

If you search yoga with adrienne it should pop up. Yesterday I did the day 6 class which is abs. It was just a 16 minute video, but this morning my abs were sore! I'm trying to do more core work because my planks are sad, and a couple of times in the last 3 months or so I've had a sore spot in my midsection like I have a hernia. Since I've started exercising regularly it hasn't happened again, but I am probably going to do this video and other stuff focusing on my core a couple of times a week.

I extended my bike ride by 25% this morning. I used DH's bike, which was really hard for me to mount despite not being much bigger, and I finally was able to get up this big hill that I always have to walk part of the way up. This whole time I thought DH was only able to do it because he is strong, but now I understand the power behind his 14 extra gears. I would start taking his bike on all my solo rides, but the seat is awful. I wanted to quit on the way home, not because my thighs burned but because the seat hurt so badly.

Sent from my HTC One_M8 using proboards I agree with 45 minutes being too long at certain times of the day. And at that late at night I need a calming yoga session that is very different from what I like to do in the morning. I think I made progress in my yoga practice when I realized that thinking I had to do at least an hour of yoga (like I was in a paid class) was not helpful. Especially since I was trying to practice every day. Sometimes you don't have that much time, and sometimes your body doesn't need that much. I've started doing my own before bed yoga routine adapted from something I found in a magazine. Even though I only modified it a little bit- adding a couple of poses I really like in some transitions- it made me realize that I know my body and what feels good so there is no reason I can't do more stuff on my own. Especially at night when I am trying to minimize screen time. I've done yoga long enough to know correct positioning. Other places to get good yoga classes online is Do Yoga With Me you can contribute by donation if you feel moved to do so. For a while I was using YogaGlo but I wasn't consistently doing the classes and didn't want to pay the monthly fee anymore. It is easy to pause or cancel online. I like those classes better than the ones on Do Yoga With Me, but I've been using youtube and especially the yoga with Adrienne lately. I'm also debating buying this app that helps you make your own yoga routines. It has a neat feature where when you are putting the poses together it shows you only the ones that flow with what you have previously. Have fun with the 30 days of yoga!

Have fun with the 30 days of yoga! i tried to sign up with the 30 day of yoga... but when I go to yogawithadriene.com/30days-confirmation/ the link to subscribe isn't clickable. I tried a few browsers but couldn't get it to work. NEVERMIND- got it to work! going to give the first video a go now! What day are you on?

Since I didn't do her video Friday or over the weekend I am on Day 7.
I was totally lazy over the weekend as far as exercise goes. I cleaned my garage on Sunday, but on Saturday I just lazed around. And Friday after the bike ride I didn't do any yoga like I normally would. Between my stomach still being sore from the ab workout and my bum hurting from the bike seat I just didn't feel like it.

Did not have a great week only 58315 steps. I was very lazy as far a steps or any other activity.
I am going to set this weeks step goal at 80,000.
Keep up the good work everyone.
Have a great week.

Ok...I'm back. My 6 weeks of celebrating has to come to an end. On the plus side, cutting my steps 30% and eating with complete abandon, I only gained 3 pounds, so the damage wasn't too bad. But I'm feeling really lazy and tired all the time now. I fired up MFP again this morning and am going to make myself do my lunch walk today. I think I've only done it a few times the past month (but it's been so damn hot!!)

Day one back on the wagon was rough. When I went out for my lunch walk it was kind of raining and I wanted to just say screw it, but I went. After work, I had to go to Sam's Club (which is 30 miles out of my way) so I ate gas station hot dogs for dinner...but I logged them in MFP! I so wanted to make a big bowl of popcorn or have ice cream while I watched TV...like I have almost every night now for weeks, but I abstained and survived.
