Update to Race #1, #2, #3 and #4!!$1161.30 paid off in the last 2 weeks!!
We got our back rent from Renter #1 so glad to be back on track with that!
I had a day surgery on Friday and am off of work now until the Monday after Thanksgiving. Excited for my 10 days off! In true Banker Gurl style, I have a large To Do list ready to go for this time. I am on modified bed rest for a few days from the surgery, but still have lots I can do with minimal physical activity.
Reselling continues to go well with over $700 in sales picked up last week!
I'm very excited with how close the Store Loan is to being paid off!!
Savings is at $18,600.00 (this needs to be updated and reduced due to large bills, that is next on my To Do list!)

It's been slow going on the debt this past month. The payments to the repair guy came out of the checking account which meant anything I bought was bought using the CC and because the repair guy cost nearly $2000 (between the Nov 1st and Dec 1st paychecks), that was $2000 less paid towards the CC. Add to that all my moving expenses during the month of October and the CC balance has a net increase rather than a net decrease. I expected it but it sucks to see it actually come to pass. BUT, my mortgage and bills are all paid so it's still all good. The carpet gets installed next Tuesday and the house should be on the market very shortly after that. Once it sells, I can throw a poop-ton of funds at the CC. If it doesn't sell in December, I will still be back to normal pay-down come the Jan 1st paycheck. Oh, and I'm also working with $500 less each month because there is no part-time job here so I have to keep that in mind when it comes to how much I can actually pay off.

nidena - will you be looking for a PT job at the new place? I'm thinking about it. There's a couple positions that I've seen on Indeed that I may go talk to a manager and see if they'd like to hire me until they find someone to fill the position permanently. I don't want to work more than three or four days and I don't want to work a variety of hours so it'd be me saying: "I can offer you Wed-Sat, noon to 5pm at $XX/hr." The worst that can happen is they say "No, thank you."

Sunday begins the last month of 2019. I already bought my brother, SIL, and niece Christmas presents from Lands' End back in October (and sent them shortly after purchasing them) so I will get them only cards. I'm not sure what I'll get my dad and stepmom. Probably some great gourmet food item since they don't actually NEED anything.
If you're shopping for gift-giving occasions, have you finished? Did you take score any great Black Friday deals?

nidena, I think it's a great idea to give something consumable. I asked my family to make Amazon wish lists (with enough choices that they won't know exactly what I chose) and will have items shipped directly to those who will not be here for Christmas. I'm checking their lists today to see if anything is on sale for Black Friday.

Update - Pay-no-Interest! 12/1/19
$3,390.00 (New debt total: 08/2018 $388,835; starting debt 05/2007: 369,884)This has been a good year in terms of my mortgage debt pay down. I've listed the stats below:
2020 Goals:
I've made the decision that I'll pay the house off when I hit the 10-year mark. We bought the house in March of 2010 and so March is the month. Until then, I'll focus on saving and investing any extra income that we have.

SO excited! We're not even "racing" the mortgage yet, but DH already said to throw a big chunk at it. We're really going to be cruising by the time I start the race in March!
swordguy- Welcome back! nidena- Haven't started shopping yet, but I have the money budgeted and ready to go. I tend to wait too long to get started, but then wrap it all up in a day or two. Its not the best process, but it works for me.

Update: Forwardwego 12/2/2019 $37,300 (11/3/2019 $38,648. C208)
Hoping to get down to $36K by end of month. This mortgage is at 3.187% and the rate adjusts in 15 months. If the boat sells, then we have a shot at beating the rate change (which will be an increase.) If no sale, then at least the higher rate will be on a relatively smaller amount, and less additional expense than going through refinance.

As of around 11:30 this morning, Christmas shopping is complete for 2019! Most everybody wanted gift cards, and those who didn't were early with their Amazon wish lists. I charged everything on a cashback credit card, and will pay it off online tomorrow. I am beyond happy to have this done.
I save all year to pay cash for Christmas gifts, and highly recommend it. If you haven't tried it, figure out your Christmas budget, divide by 12, and put that much in a separate savings account every month. You'll be glad you did.

Slow and steady, steady and slow, that's the way I'll always go. Paying off this loan early would save me less than $100 in interest. While I would like to add more to it, it just doesn't make sense. The new carpet is installed in the DE house. It's scheduled to be cleaned on the 12th. Then, hopefully, it'll go on the market.

After reading a thread on the YM board, I went ahead and canx my life insurance. I got it because, while in the military, we were required to have it and I knew I wouldn't have the military policy when I finished my 20 years there. So, I got a much smaller policy to cover basic funeral expenses with my dad as beneficiary. He was in his early 60s at the time. That was ten years ago. My payments into the policy totaled just over $2000 and it has a cash value of $1110 which I had them put into my 3-6 Months savings account. I currently deposit $50/mo into this account and I will probably just increase the deposit to include what I was paying to the insurance policy. My thought being: it's better to deposit $35 into an account from which I can pull ALL the funds than to pay $35 and never see it again.

Ok... jumping right on! I was here about 3 years back and fell off because a lot happened, lost job, moved to a different state 9 hours away, had a baby, got new job, etc. So not even going to search for my old post and just starting a new race to keep it moving. We made a good income, save a good chunk but also spend a lot. We also have been tiptoeing around this debt for 2 years now (since DD was born) and it has increased some and I want it gone. More so now that we are talking about trying for #2. We do have some options to us that would help accelerate it but I am also a money "hoarder"; savings makes me feel "secure" and more so with my job on a rocky place. So yes I know we could scale back from maxing 403b and 401k, the HSA and other savings to kind accelerate the paydown but I don't want to do that yet. My goal is to be done with this in 3 years max. I used about half of our immediate EF at the beginning of the year ~10k thanks to Murphy (basement flooded, some of it insurance did not cover); MA levied 2k of my wife income for what seems to be old taxes that we are working on getting back (we did pay) and had to send ~2k to the Feds and State on 04/15 (this past Monday) for 2018 Taxes. Weird how long it takes to save 10k and how quickly it was spent (~1 month). Goal is to simply pay this sucker down. I currently send about ~$1,600/month towards the debt paydown. Big concern is in the midst of my job (crazy story, was fired and re-hired within 24 hours), me trying to launch my side business, all the craziness that is our life, a toddler : I kinda missed that the 0% trial period on those cards was ending … Imagine my shock when I was paying them this month and noticed that the balance was not going down by much... That because most of the payments for most was going towards interest. So working on a plan for that, not 100% sure yet what will be the final detail. Enough talking; here we go (rounded the numbers since easier to post like that while at work. cawiau 04/17/19 $62,000
Account | Beginning

quick update, still treading water for now. I think my number's not due for another week if I keep to monthly updates. house is on the market, had a showing yesterday that didn't field an offer. oh well. Open House is planned for next weekend (12/15), hoping for a bidding war lol.... my overall balance went up for November as I had to buy a few things for the house - a new exterior door and other things to fix some massive wood rot under the old threshold, for instance - but....BUT! November to December, and there are still some payments left to go out for December, I have already knocked the total down almost $1300. Current plan while waiting to sell the house is to keep spending minimal. I seem to be doing okay with that, my biggest unpredictable expenses right now are the days I end up needing to bring the pups to daycare - $50/day for two of them. thankfully my employer is flexible and I can WFH as needed. that's what I did yesterday, and just took the pups on a long drive to get them out of the house. $50 back in my pocket that way! Also - I will be selling household things I'm not going to need when I no longer have a house. some things are pretty big ticket - like a generator, lawn mower, etc. things are looking up.

Not a great update, just a small bit of progress overall.... I'm having trouble transferring my money out of savings into checking to cover this month's early bills. So - I had to dip into more personal loan territory I'm afraid. Still - a decrease in overall debt! Hopefully will get this straightened out, and have a good ending to the year.....I may do a new year's eve update to make sure I'm ending on a good note? If - in fact - I am!!!

[img src="http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/wte.png" src="//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png" alt=" " class="smile"] Welcome back! You can do this!! Step one, facing it...check. Step 2, finding your peer support (WIRR)...check

You've paid off more than $10,000 in six months. That is awesome!

Between what I was able to pay and what I spent on the CC, the increase to my total debt is equal to my October debt balance + house repairs/new carpet + a little bit of the moving expenses. It'll be good to get back on track next month and see an obvious decrease between this month and next month. My next actual update should be awesome since I'm hoping to have the mortgage gone. <fingers crossed that the house sells quickly once it's listed>. Anyhow, here's my update:
UPDATE:
nidena: 12/6/2019 $166,775.14 (8/22/2007 $223,361.20 N453,503,NE648,NPT25)
The life insurance Cash posted to my savings account today. I plan to use $50-$100 and send some money to a friend. She's a newly single parent with two kids under the age of four.

Not a lot of progress this month. Won't be able to start hammering at it for another month or two.

ByeDebtBye: 12/09/19 $27,507.58 (09/28/18, $33,407.11, WIRR180)
I shouldn't allow myself a break from posting on here... I slid backwards $1,786.49. Not my proudest post. Working on paying down as much as possible by the end of the year.

But for me, I'm finding at the end of the year that I'm really struggling with funding all this holiday cheer and trying to make amends for past spending indiscretions. I will do soooo much better in 2020....I promise

Excel has a great built-in template that will set up a spreadsheet for a fixed rate mortgage.
