I'm lucky to be as healthy as I am

It's nice to hear someone appreciate that they have good health ~ I think many people take that for granted.

I take 3 meds for chronic, severe asthma that I've struggled with since toddler-hood.
I take meds for high cholesterol and high triglycerides.
I take a med for my thyroid.
I take 3 meds for high blood pressure.
I take 3 meds for diabetes (which I've had for 20+ years).

I am currently 17 weeks into a quest to eat healthier and get healthier and lose weight. So far, so good. And I've started biking, too.

I am one who appreciates their good health also. I don't even have a Dr. I get a kick out of Blue Cross calling me periodically to let me know what tests I should have done, etc and I end the conversation with "does this mean I have to get a doctor" Silence on the other end.

My health is great. I think I will load up on vaccinations. Walgreen's has signs outside with all the different ones, but then I go in and have to wait. I noticed the last time I was waiting, the shingles vax which previously said 60 now says 50 (not anywhere near that age, but thought it was interesting that it was lowered 10 years). I also noticed they offer a pneumonia vax, which I wasn't previously aware that there was one. The only doctor I have is the one who delivered my babies, so I should get a GP, but until then the pharmacy is fine.

I, too, am very fortunate. The only medication I take is a beta-blocker (Inderal) for essential tremor (an inherited condition). That's not really necessary, it just makes it easier for me to do things that require fine motor skills. Other than that, I just take a multi-vitamin daily. At 72, I figure that's pretty darned fortunate!

I take no meds.  I used to work for a pharm company and I always joked I would never need to take those products that we made: for cholesterol, high blood pressure, ulcers and AIDS.

A lot of it is due to genetics.  At one point I had a cholesterol result >100.  Now it is less than 150.  My blood pressure is always low.  No other chronic problems.  My dad is 76 and does not take any medicines.  He did have an issue a couple months ago where he fainted, and they did tons of test and basically said he had low blood pressure.

Of course I am still trying to lose the "baby weight" but my youngest just turned 20!  Another 20 pounds would do for me.

Wish I could say the same for DH.  I just refiled his scripts and it is $190 for 3 months with insurance!

My 90 year old father takes no medications.  Amazing.  

My mother didn't take any medications until the last couple years of her life.  

I have different problems and do take meds.  I have depression.  Without those meds, I would not be alive today.

I take OTC allergy meds, year round. some vitamins, too. other than that, I picked up an anti-anxiety med scrip this past winter that I use as-needed - which tends to be not at all most of the time, and then twice a day (max) for a few days when shit's stupid stressful. now that I'm looking at finally closing on the condo that's been so mentally toxic, I expect that will mostly go away.....which would be awesome. I hate taking anything, ever, unless it's absolutely necessary.
