#1 reason is that they don't make enough money.

Put me down for only #6 BUT:
Add treating DD2 & grands to some things as she is in the middle of a divorce.

One of my reasons, I see something and think "wouldn't that be great" and then imagine all sorts of ways I will use that, but in reality, never will and it will sit there pretty much unused. I have learned to come back to reality, like no I am not going to churn my own butter so I really don't need to buy that butter churner today.

Regarding #4, Poor as a Child. Well I was not poor, but my best childhood friend was wealthy so I always FELT poor. We would go shopping and I would have $10 and she would have $60. Now I have the money to spend but sometimes am too tight to part with it, I think it to death before opening the wallet.

Then I would be in a store like Michaels/Hobby Lobby with stuff in shopping cart. I would walk around for a while and then start putting stuff back on the shelf. Kinda gave me some satisfaction thinking I "needed, wanted" it but truly didn't, so didn't buy it. No longer a problem now since I have reached the stage in life "IF IT NEEDS DUSTING, I DON'T NEED IT"

It also helps that DH is now retired and cannot go to a store alone or use the computer so that has REALLY cut down on the amount of crap that comes through the door. Food, booze, books and cat supplies are about all we ever buy nowadays.

I think "Poor as a child" can go either way as far as contributing to either being an over-spender or a saver. For me it was the latter rather than the former.

I am still looking at that Eagle, its down to $52 now. If it goes to $45k, we might be interested. The price doesn't matter - if you don't need it at 52, you don't need it at 45.
