I just learned that Amazon offers FRESH in Seattle. It's interesting, but I'd be wary about someone picking my produce I think...
I did order from Applegate a few times before they stopped their mail service...

I got a free gift card from peapod when one of my kids was born and used it. I would say that, in general, I'm not cheap when it comes to spending money on things that free up my time. But it bothered me to know I was overpaying for groceries when I used those services (plus delivery fee). Plus, it's not like it eliminates trip the grocery stores since you always have to go back.
So no, I wouldn't use it again.

No.
I have "slight" control issues, so someone picking out my tomatoes would not work for me.

Several years back, when my Mom was still living in her house, I arranged to have her groceries delivered to her home every week. It actually worked out quite well. They always showed up within the 2 hour time frame that they promised, & I only recall one time where they made a mistake on her order.
BTW, this was a higher-end grocery store, so their produce was very good!

There is an older couple that posts on another board I belong to that uses both Walmart and Schwan's for most of their food items. Schwan's has a decent variety of frozen foods and delivers to your door. They have a friend that takes the Mrs. to the store at least once every 2 weeks, so I don't know what they do for other fresh items between times. Walmart evidently has a $4.95 delivery fee for an order over a certain amount.

I wouldn't personally do an online order/delivery. I like to check dates, as well as look at the fresh meats and produce to select my own for fat content (meat), bruising or browning on veggies/fruits etc.
It would be ok if you eat a lot of packaged or frozen foods.
(I might change my opinion in the middle of winter, when I'm driving through snow-covered streets or bundling up against freezing temps/navigating snowdrifts cane-in-hand to get to the store and back).

I use a service. $11 flat fee for delivery. With 3 young kids it is so completely worth it for me. I absolutely love it. I was concerned about some of the stuff others have mentioned, but have had no issues. My produce always looks acceptable. For the milk and meat they give you the freshest stuff available. I actually didn't know meat use by dates went so far out because usually in the store it is only 1-3 days off.
I don't use it every week. I probably average twice a month and will run by the store in between to grab milk or bread if needed. I can check the ads and get an order completed in 10-15 minutes. I get it the next day in the 2 hour window I pick. So, so, so much better than dragging the kids to the store, dealing with crowds, waiting in line, loading my car, unloading my car.
I would seriously recommend it to anyone that is really busy and does not enjoy shopping.

As an experiment, I subscribed to a produce delivery service. Between that and Amazon I was able to avoid any local shopping for over a year. The produce delivery service also offered things like bread, butter, eggs, etc.
During that time I mostly baked my own bread and made my own yogurt. The service was expensive, but considering everything I had going on and my hatred for shopping, it was worth it. One thing in my favor is the fact that I'm not a huge meat eater, I'm perfectly happy with soups, salads, a pot of beans, etc. They also sell meat, but those prices were pretty outrageous for what you wound up getting.
I stopped the delivery service for awhile, but recently started up again. I was eating healthier since the stuff cost so much I couldn't see letting most of it go to waste. I'm doing most of my shopping online but buying certain things locally now. One thing about the online delivery service is they are awesome about issuing credits if you end up with something unacceptable. There's been a few times it looked like the lettuce or spinach was run over by a tractor and tossed in my box, and they've refunded the price without any hassle.

I did order some things that mother liked from Schwan's; however, she's not really able to eat much anymore and takes mostly fortified liquids for nourishment. I do have trouble getting out to shop but there really isn't any good, reliable delivery service in the area. I just have someone sit with mother so I can go to the store and I stock up with things I can freeze. There's only me to feed so it's not really all that difficult and I don't have to go that often. If I need just a couple of things (like eggs, milk, butter, etc.), my daughter will pick them up when she's coming to visit. Mother's liquids I order by the case online.

No have not nor will use because:
HATE having to pay for delivery (VERY tight budget) No way I would let some probably 1/2 educated or less kid pick out my produce & meat My stores frequently have manager specials I like that were NOT on the print ad

My mother has difficulty walking, and even using the in-store scooter was hard for her. She has used Shop-Rite's service for a couple of years now, and is very happy with it. There is a $10.00 fee for the service, plus $5.00 if she has it delivered. Usually she goes to the store to pick it up, just to get out of the house for a bit. She has been happy with the meats and produce the store employees have picked out for her.

I did and it was wonderful. Long ago. Yes, I paid more for some things but I also planned out my meals so the was less waste. They were even careful with produce picking. Something I really appreciated. The delivery fee at that time was $5 and I always tipped the guy $5 more. They'd even send the bill monthly.

I just picked 2 things randomly off the top of my head. Grapes are $1-$1.50/pound at grocery stores now and they are selling on peapod for $3/pound. Nabisco graham crackers can be bought at Walmart.com for $2.98/box and they are $4.29/box at peapod. I'd rather just shop at Whole Foods and get organic groceries for that price Besides, you can basically do 75% of your grocery shopping online anyways by just placing regular online orders for non-perishables. Ever month or so, I buy paper towels, TP, OTC medicines, cracker-type things, etc from Walmart...free shipping over $50. And around every month, I'll go to Aldi and buy a bunch of stuff that is really cheap there, like Frozen fruit. And then every week, I go to the grocery store and get fresh stuff.

I live in a densely populated urban area - with lots of grocery store choices within 1 mile of my house. I'm also single. While I like the idea of someone else shopping for me... it wouldn't really save me much time.
I'm also not sure how I feel about paying premium prices for my groceries -- since I wouldn't necessarily be 'shopping the sales' or maybe would just have a 'standing order' that gets delivered regardless of price.

My BFF in Nor Cal has used Safeway's home delivery program. I think she uses it for two reasons: She cannot stand/can't be bothered with crowds, and is a very busy entrepreneur. Luck with your paper!

For me it'd be very price dependent, if I can get much better prices at the local store, I'm not going to bother having it delivered. Especially since I have 3 stores right near me at work, it's not hard to stop when I leave.

I love Amazon and use it all the time. ALL the time. (I just felt that I needed to start off with that disclaimer.) If I could get a person or service to follow my list precisely and buy exactly what I asked for, I probably WOULD be just comfortable having someone else shop for me. In fact, earlier this summer, I did have several friends do some shopping for me, and it made me realized just how specific and detailed such a list needs to be in order to have it work. It also helps if the shopper has some basic common sense for things like (check the best by / use by / expiration date on the cottage cheese and buy the one with the date the FURTHEST out) without having to be told. Or, in my case, "don't by the huge family-size mondo container of cottage cheese for one person, when the most common size is significantly smaller. Perhaps you could call me if you're not sure?" I currently get groceries at 3 different stores because no one store carries (as my wonderful DH explains) "all the weird food that you want purchased." So having the option to get someone to go to just Trader Joes, for example, would be awesome .... so I wouldn't have to drive separately to that store for eggplant hummus, pea pods, Southern Greens, sirloin, chicken patties, chicken sausage, roasted beets, etc. (For things like fresh veggies, I actually can get what I need at any of several stores, actually)

It's nice to have the option.
One person who used the service was getting their items stolen off the porch. I don't know why the groceries were left on the porch.

I order almost all of my non-perishable items from Walmart.com. Free shipping and it's fairly quick.
In Angel's case, I think having all groceries delivered is a great idea! For me personally, I'd worry about the cold items. How do you know whomever is packing your order is doing it in a timely manner and items aren't left out at room temperature? Or, do they pack perishables in a cooler of some sort? Plus, you'd have to be home during their delivery window to put things in the fridge or freezer right away.
IDK - it's a nice option for those who truly need it, but for me, I'll stick to buying my own perishable items and produce for now.

I have ordered from pea pod in the past... It has been a lifesaver in the middle of winter when nursing a cold.

to answer the OP - if Wegman's offered delivery I would be all over that....if I need something and Wegman's has it, I buy it there. I've bought makeup, skincare, deodorant, paper towels, and school supplies in addition to food. I'm all about convenience.

If I didn't live in a town of 2,000, I would love it. It's for services like this that I miss the large city living. I do too much impulse buying so I'd probably save money. No meat in my life, so that isn't an issue. From my rather simple lists, not a lot could go wrong.
One of my clients who lives in the larger city of around 30,000 did use the delivery service of one of the grocery chains. She said since she can't drive, it was better than her trying to get on and off the bus at the facility where she lived.
