No, it's not what you think. We moved a few months back. My old house had this amazing soaker jacuzzi tub (that we put in when we gutted the bathroom). I use to take nice long soaks almost daily. Besides being incredibly relaxing, it also helped with my skin condition (Mutant Psoriasis). I am fortunate to have an especially resistant to treatment version. Yea me. Soaking in Oatmeal and Neutrogna oil baths are all that gives me a bit of relief (on top of the tar/salycylic acid treatment, dermal therapy lotion, etc). In the new house, yep - no soaker tub. This has (of course ) caused the worse flare-up of my life. I now have patches erupting in areas I've never had them before. I'm almost to the point of calling the local hotels and seeing if any have rooms with soaker tubs. At this point I would gladly pay $100 for a few hours of relief. We may have to put the bathroom remodel in front of the kitchen remodel. Not really fair to DH but it's better then me killing someone. Any other ideas?

The kitchen can wait Sorry it's acting up so badly Any good friends/relatives nearby that may have a tub you can "borrow"?

Come visit me. I have a nice Jacuzzi tub. I'll even bring you wine.
However, there will be 2 kids and cat who randomly will barge in.

The kitchen can wait Sorry it's acting up so badly Any good friends/relatives nearby that may have a tub you can "borrow"? Appreciate that. The closest family member has a phobia about other people seeing, let alone using, her private bath. I get that (it's her haven). The two closet friends I'd be comforatble asking actually just put in walk in steam showers. They never take baths. I'm not to the point of asking casual friends yet if I can use their tub .

BUT (truth) I asked DH if there was any way we could just buy a tub and stick it in the basement for me to use for now. He doesn't think that will work.

Sorry, Floridians tend to forget everyone isn't at 90* temps in September. Though if it was really bad I'd be tempted at putting it inside somewhere where you can easily drag it outside to it. Just wear a bathing suit so as not to scare/scar the children.

Check with your doctor, and see if one of the hospitals or outpatient clinics has a therapeutic pool/spa/tub you could use. Several of our local hospitals have hydrotherapy centers for patients who need water-based exercise and the like.

I don't think they'd like me gumming up the works. That's why I'm trying to find an individual tub. That way I can clean it out when I'm done.

If you can't find a bath tub in your area I would recommend Elocon Ointment in the meantime.

Sorry about this....
I have a jacuzzi tub, if you want to take a very long road trip! You'd probably be joined by a couple of animals though, because they can't resist watching water.
I can also relate to the psoriasis. I have it to, but it mostly seems confined to my scalp, under my hair or around my ears. But when I was in NY last year dealing with my dad's pancreatic cancer diagnosis, the psoriasis went apeshit and worked its way down one side of my face. Of course, all the drugs that I had to deal with this were in WA. When I got back to WA, once I had access to my drugs and way less stress, it was gone.
BTW.....I HAVE rented a hotel room to get a jacuzzi tub when my hips were acting up before my surgery (when I lived in KY). It was just so cold and damp that I couldn't get warm and I needed the warmth and water.

These places have those tubs, and use them for therapeutic reasons like yours. My local hospital does (it's part of the burn/wound care unit). I had no idea they did, until I checked their web site. And I think commercial plumbing can handle the likes of you.

If your doc is affiliated with that hospital, it will help. You may have to get the good old referral to use the facility, but if the kiddie pool in the basement idea sounds kinda chilly, this might be a good option. Now, if DH wants to get into the kiddie pool with you and warm it up....

I don't know how you did it.

Thanks, but you do. Mine is very mild, it only pops out when I am really stressed.
However, and this is really something interesting I discovered.....it totally went away while I was on IV antibiotics, for the first time since I was a child. I was on them for 6 months, but everything cleared up like a baby's skin. When I went off the antibiotics, it started up again but in different areas (now behind my ears is the biggest one).
So I'm guessing that part of the response in psoriasis is a function of my body's reaction to my normal flora.

DH has psoriasis, fairly mild, that he has had since a child. His parents put him on goat milk and that keeps it under control. He can't drink cows milk.
Don't know if this slight dietary change will help you or not.
Sorry you are fighting this.

I need one too. I need the Neutrogena oils too. The new bathtub is in but no plumbing in there yet. Not a soaker tub just standard but it's been so long since I had a bath and I can't wait. Worse than that is we have no heat either and it's freezing in here. The bathroom radiator was unhooked so they can put in the floor and they asked us if we wanted them filled again in the meantime and dh said no we'd be ok with no heat for a couple weeks. I could start a fire but too lazy to get wood so dragging space heater around. I should, better, be getting a bath next wkend and it will be a good one.

Its nowhere near the same, but I am a huge fan of steam rooms(not saunas!). Its not always easy to find women's gyms with steam rooms, but for me, I used them as stress relief, kept my weight more stable as I would sweat out those three to five pounds of water weight if needed, and very important to me - kept my sinuses hydrated and moving. It overall helped with my skin's appearance. I lotion right after showers, baths, and steams. I use fast absorbing lotions when at the gym. There is nothing better than Dr. Hauska body lotion IMO if your budget can support it. Obviously, you probably have to watch ingredients, etc. but look for fast absorbing,
ack .. health food brands or those rated for very sensitive skin. Also, up all the other stress relief things you like to do to lessen the impact of not having your bath available now.

Are they putting a new floor in? If so, look into getting radiant heat in the floors. Apparently it is a pad that they set in and it takes as much power as a light bulb. The tiler was setting the tile in the new floor last year and mentioned it. I REALLY wish we had stopped him then and there and looked at installation of one as that floor is freaking cold (especially during early morning bathroom runs). Tiler said it wasn't a lot, only about $200.

I am finally looking at getting some work done on my condo and this was one of the things I considered looking into. Now I definitely will

isn't there some kind of thing you can hang over the side of a regular tub to turn it into a whirlpool? maybe google that. it wouldn't be as good as a jacuzzi tub but could work in the interim....and I agree - bathroom remodel will have to come before kitchen.

Can you soak hand towels in your oatmeal/oils and place it on your skin? Sit on a shower curtain liner so you don't get your floors or rugs all wet.

Yep! I used to have one. The place were I live now though, has such a shallow, tiny tub, it didn't work. So I gave it away. One of the hospitals in my area has a large individual size soaker/jacuzzi tub. It is part of the 'womens clinic'. With permission, they allow others to reserve and use it. GOOD LUCK!
