Stove is a Kenmore, it's 7 years old, at the time it was the cheapest electric glass top available (builder special!). Recently, one of the burners would not turn off so had to replace a knob a few months ago. Was able to get the part from amazon for $40. When we the house, all the appliances were new. Had to replace the microwave 3 years in. Still have all the other originals, but they'll most likely all start to fail soon.

Hmm, I wanted the 5th burner for warming tortillas. We haven't yet had a party in our basement so I have never tried it out.
My stove in the kitchen has a warming drawer too. I used it maybe 1x.
Glad to see you back Cawiau!

I have a 7.5 qt. oval Le Creuset dutch oven. When I'm using it, I use the 5th burner to heat the dutch oven and then for browning or whatever else I'm cooking. It heats it evenly and does a great job. Then I finish the cooking or roasting in the oven.

Let's put it this way...I dislike cooking, but if I have to do it, I'm going to have the best cooking equipment I can find, and Le Crueset fits that description. I did use my www.lecreuset.com/cookware/french-ovens---braisers/braisers/3-1-2-qt-braiser
yesterday for country ribs. I browned them first on all sides then put it in the oven for 3 hours. Meat fell apart and was delicious.
I also keep the braiser with the lid on it sitting on the 5th burner of the stove, mine is turquoise in color, and sometimes I put my 7.5 coral oval dutch oven sitting there instead. I love seeing the colors, as all the Le Crueset I have is in a different color and that goes along with my 8 different colors of Fiestaware dishes.

DH after reading about the 50 year old SS appliances I am curious what color your 20 year old stove is? Black with silver trim. Cook top in counter is white. Dishwasher and fridge are SS.

I have a Universal gas stove, model Marlboro circa 1945/1946. It's very Art Deco. And small It have a 1/2 sized oven and 4 close together burners. It has no electric anything - so it always works. If I went with a vintage stove I'd rather have a reconditioned/refurbished merritt o'keefe in a normal size. I have friends with a Viking gas stove which they have a love/hate relationship with. Difficult to clean and while the ovens/broiler/warming pans are cool to have - it's difficult to get stuff in to and out of them and you cannot easily "see/check" what's in the oven for done-ness/progress. The stove is there remodel 'wish we had done that differently' thing. Everyone else has newer (replaced within the last 5 years) stoves. Some also have love/hate relationships mostly because of all the 'programming' or electronic buttons the things need to just heat up a pot of water. FWIW: How come on all the new stoves (it seems like it) you have to reach across the top of the stove to turn it on/off adjust your cooking? I think I'd have dozens of scars from burns (touching hot pots) and possibly have had a trip or two to the ER for burns from 'steaming pots' if I had to reach over the burners to get to the stove's controls.... Why are stoves built like that??

Mine is a GE induction range, 10 years old, due to be replaced. I am looking at Bosch, Fisher and Paykel and Viking, all of whom now make induction ranges. All four models I am considering are in the $3,500 to $8,000 range price-wise. One of them is the Viking custom model, where you can choose the door color.

My stove is a GE glass top. Nothing fancy. When house was built 5 years ago, the allowance didn't cover stainless, so it's black. As they die, they will be replaced with stainless--hopefully one at a time.
No doubt the stove will be last because I don't cook. I use the fancy microwave I got for all my cooking. It also can be used as a convection oven.

I have a 1946 Crossley. It came with the house which my grandfather built. I still have the manual and warranty card (which is how we know how old it is). THe oven is on the right, storage on the left and bottom 2 drawers. There is 1 large burner, 2 small burners and a removable stock pot burner which is about 8 inches deep (back left burner). Please excuse the mess around it.

I had one similar to yours when we were first married. Mine had 4 doors also, but the one on the left was quite narrow. I think we paid $30 for it used.
Yours is really cool....and amazingly, they are becoming quite valuable. There is a store in Georgia (don't remember the city) that hunts down old ones and refurbishing them and sells them for thousands of dollars.
Thanks for posting the picture!!!

I don't know how old mine is. I bought it for $150 5 years ago from somebody that needed some money and sold some things she'd put in storage when she moved out of her house. She'd only had it a short time before she put it in storage. I'm guessing it was bought 2 or 3 years before I got it.
It's a glass top with the long thing for a griddle I guess and a warming zone in the middle that I've never used. Honestly, I can barely figure out how to use the thing half the time, and all the buttons for using the oven are especially confusing. What happened to just turning a knob to turn the darn oven on? It also has some buttons for some convection something or other, but I don't even know what that is or what it's good for.
Obviously I'm not into cooking.
My stove and dishwasher are black. My refrigerator is white. Everything use to be white. I prefer black, but I'm not replacing a working refrigerator just because it doesn't match.

I have no idea how old it is as it was here when we moved in. We have a wall oven which works well and a separate cooktop which is electric with the elements. I hate it! I'd much rather have gas and when we redo the kitchen we'll replace both with a slide in gas stove. I'll have to run the gas line from where the water and heater are to the kitchen, but it'll be worth it to me.
MY Son-in-law is a cabinetmaker and has said he'll make the cabinets, but I need to get a kitchen designer to redesign my kitchen as it isn't cook friendly and is pretty small while not being open to the dining and living rooms. I want to open up a wall to the living/dining rooms and put in an island. We'll see if we can afford to do all that when we get ready to do that.

Our appliances are original to the house, about 25 years old. They are all Kenmore.
Kitchen is getting renovated next week and I tried to talk TD into a new stove and dishwasher. I almost had him there, and the appliance salesman at Lowe's talked him out of it. So despite the fact that the dishwasher sounds like a 747 about to take off, and all burners tilt to the left on the stove, I'm stuck with them until they die.
At least when they bring in the new countertops next week, I'll be able to see whether there is a gas line run to the stove.

I've got a stove from the same era, it is slightly different (burners are on left and right with large space in middle); we got it for $50 at a used appliance place nearly 20 years ago to replace the harvest gold stove that died. This stove is currently waiting for our l o n g kitchen remodel to end. I'm cooking on an apartment size stove of indeterminate age, I think it is a hotpoint. I really like simple and basic (no electronics, or even electricity), not much can go wrong, and I prefer gas. Well, except for the hassle of LP, since we don't have NG on our road.
