We took 6 bags of clothes, etc to the house in town and went out for dinner. I also stopped at the grocer before coming home.
Hubs put up a big LED light over what will be my sewing room area in the basement again He is thinking of doing something with the outside wall, he does not think it needs insulated, he said it is on the outside of the basement wall. The walls had forms when the concrete was poured that made them look like bricks, so paint would look good. The wall doesn't feel cold, but I don't know. He is thinking of painting it and possibly with insulating paint?? A drop ceiling then a door. I can move my 60 inch telly in there and a recliner, the room is 20 by 12. But my sewing stuff really fills it. The TV stand is on rollers anyway so can be moved.
We really need to have the upstairs bedroom a bedroom again.

It's 7:20 am and I haven't done squat except pee, open diet pepsi and contemplate the universe. Things will get moving later. I'll probably mow the back 40 and go from there.

I was dressed for a morning at home then remembered I had a certified letter at the post office. Change clothes again. I ate so much yesterday celebrating that I am not hungry today. My mouth is but my stomach says NO. Bought lottery tickets after listening to old man trying to sell the clerk on a measure vote coming up in Nov. She was firmly against. I'm not used to buying these so I messed up and didn't get 2 plays. Oh well.

Did my workout with trainer. I’m going to miss it but not the outgo of money. Found a purse that’s okay so I’m not using it until I know for sure it’s as good as I can get.

Another VA day, and was it cold when I got out of my warm car in the parking lot. As usual, I took my lunch. I've accepted an additional volunteer position with the VA, and I'll be working 10-2 PM on Tuesday and Thursday. This time it will be in the new drug and alcohol treatment center....simple jobs like answering the phone and escorting at time the veteran from the center back into the hospital or clinic area. I think it will be a nice change from the hospital main desk + will give me some additional time out of the house.
For now, I'm off to Dillards and Christopher and Banks for a little shopping.

Another sunny, but cool, day. We ran several errands, had a late breakfast out (used AARP discount and gift card) and were back home a little after noon. Such an exciting life we lead...hah!
We got rid of a lot of household items when we moved four years ago but there is still a lot I need to go through. Right now I'm off to go sort through a couple of boxes in the garage. I'm pretty sure most, if not all, will end up at the Goodwill or in the garbage. So.Much.Stuff!!

We're in the low 80s and sunny today. 70s forecast for tomorrow and Wednesday, then into the 60s. A good chance of rain on Saturday and some chance the end of next week. Not too shabby, really.

Swept the kitchen. Hung up the bedrooms curtains that I washed. Went to the pharmacy to pick up my prescriptions. Dropped off 2 bags of stuff at the Salvation Army. Went to Dollarama to buy garbage bags. Went to Esposito Market to do my grocery shopping. All in all, a full day.

How cold does it get where you are? Where I live, a lot of basements, we stay 2 feet away from the cold walls. I put a small heater in my unfinished basement to keep the duct work warm.
The basement is heated and cooled, at least 65 in the winter, not a lot of air vented down there, we just divert so much, when I'm down there in winter I run an electric heater. He is going to put a door on the room and a drop ceiling, the room is 20 X 12. To me its freezing, to hubs would be comfortable. The wall doesn't feel cold, he is wanting to just paint it, he is afraid of mold and mildew. We have a dehumidifier set at 50% humidity down there, it runs a lot. But nothing feels or smells damp. The previous owner said we need to run it and we agree.
We have an old house we are working on that none was run in all summer, I had the smell down, now its back, we gave son that dehumidifier and bought a new one for that house. I don't want that kind of smell in our house. We have a good furnace in it, need to add an AC its no good, they didn't have a new one of those put in. Hubs broke the fitting putting the dehumidifier together, I think he fixed it and its running now but I'm going to have to put out damprid stuff and probably painting and keeping heat in it will help. It was empty almost 5 years and the basement flooded during that time. It's cleaned and now we just get some water in cracks where the basement meets the floor. Hubs is going to tile around the outside and improve drainage, I'm going to seal with an elastomeric product I found then paint with a sealant, very expensive stuff. I think that will also help the smell. It's a lot of work to bring these old houses back at times. It was built in 1910. I remediated mold in the basement about 2 years ago. I bought a product online, again, very expensive, used a yellow raincoat, hood, googles, respirator, and gloves taped on and a weed sprayer. It got rid of it and has never come back, it was up under the floor and joists, thank goodness not black mold or that would have been a big issue.
Anyway he now has my LED light in my sewing room in our basement, its awesome. He placed it so I won't have shadow,s as you age, light for sewing is a necessity. He is in town doing some work on that house so the tenant can have a yard sale inside so back and forth. I had stripped and resealed and painted the living room windows there, bought new rope for the weights. You can order stuff like that from house restorers online. Had to remove the woodwork and sealed at the ends of the weight boxes and I cleaned and sealed 3 sides of the storm windows, the bottom is open for drainage. He is putting all that back together, we don't want people messing with those. We will shut the bedroom doors and the kitchen area so the public can just get into the living room, its really big.
Hubs has about 3 projects he is trying to do, house in town, finish wiring in his garage, and work in my basement room. I hope to start helping him next week.

I picked up scripts got the new insurances picked out, we have to make an appointment to go in and both of us sign of to finalize.
Picked up scripts. Bought some more groceries. Met with hubs at old house in town, looking at kitchen cabinets, going to try stripping those, have to finish bedroom windows first 2 are half done, 1 not started.
Came home, sat down, have done laundry and fixed dinner. I reconciled Sept for the rental property account.
Now I'm getting ready to write up a review of DD's case worker, its extensive, sigh, his supervisor is requesting that, will do tonight. Got to bring her and MIL's reports up to date. Now I have a new one on DD I have to do about meds, hospitalizations, whether she can work, etc back to 2016 its just another report someone likely sticks in a file so they can do a checkmark that its done. I am sick of doing all this work, I just want to quit. It's like having a job an getting paid no money for it.

I am enjoying our first cool weather of the year but concerned for all the folks in central Texas with the flooding there; I grew up in that area. Washed one load today, went for a walk, took a shower, and got the mail taken care of. DH is feeling fairly good. Today we got one of the medications that was supposed to come Friday; thankfully they rushed us some from a local place. He can't afford to be without the pain medicine too long.

Never drink wine until late when you have to function the next day. Sigh. But it was fun and I got to see their pictures from Greece. Beautiful but they said the water was cold. In Greece?

Had a cup of hot chamomile tea and my Linzess. Helped DD with her hair and teeth, she is mad. I gave her an extra pill, she is very mad. They are doing a quarterly review today, last one she was angry, screaming, and crying. It's required by the state but this time they have said she doesn't have to come so I'm going to see if we can do it. I gave her extra meds yesterday and today as she was mad about it yesterday too and angry most of the day. I dread it when she gets like that and upsets me for the day too. She wants to quit going and not going to happen. She only goes 2 days a week now and lays in bed most of the time unless I make her go someplace with me. I try to find things for her to do, but she listens to music, plays on her computer, and sleeps. Trying to get her motivated is bad but she has tried to do so many things without success I think she has given up. I feel so sorry for her.

Not much, slept half the day or more. I slept mainly so I wouldn't think about or want to eat. I worked on my puzzle for awhile. I am so hungry, I have drank chicken broth and drinking another ginger ale, not diet. I can't eat anything after midnight, I'm really worried about my hypoglycemia kicking in. We are there at 7:30, says the procedure is at 9:30. That many hours with nothing to eat and little if nothing today. Last time I got my colonoscopy, had to call them and they let me eat a bit, can't remember what. I have a terrible headache, have most of the day. I know with them looking at my stomach I can't. I will be so glad to get this over with. I notice it said that if a person is diabetic not to take their meds. I would think that could really end badly for them, wow.
Tonight I worked on QuickBooks for awhile. I have used it for years, set up a new renter and somehow screwed it up royally last month, had never done that before. I finally figured out what I did and fixed it but took me a couple of hours, but wow. Fixed my hair and am drying it. Have my clothes laid out for in the morning.
I have to get up at 5:30. I'm tired so I know I will sleep tonight even after sleeping today. I am tired a lot anymore. I wish I could take something for this headache, but I'm not.
Need to let the dog out too for him to potty.

I did two loads of dishes today and three loads of laundry. Far different from the deep cleaning I had planned. I’ve had 4 days off from work and spent most of it sleeping. Friday I slept until noon, stayed up until 3pm, then took a nap until 10pm. Got up for an hour or so then went back to bed. I know I’ve been flirting with a cold for awhile, but I didn’t realize I was so exhausted.

My endoscope is over, my pancreas is healthy, yes! I had polyps in my stomach, he cut some out. But my issue is the bottom of my esophagus is narrowed, they stretched it. He said I will likely need this done every year if I don't want it to become a real problem, no surprise to me. My poor mom over 20 years ago had that issue. She essentially starved as she couldn't swallow and would get choked all the time. Toward the end had to have a feeding tube. They didn't even look for this problem till she was very old. I remember her having to eat small amounts and she said it was like the food was trickling down. No one did anything, she suffered with this for many years.
They are going to still do an MRI of my side to see if they can figure out why it hurts so bad. I'm betting its my ribs and spine where I have osteoarthritis and degenerative disk disease and by all the stress from my flat feet. It stopped for a couple of months with Linzess but now its started again on Saturday. I was hoping it would quit.
I hurt all over today, no pain or arthritis pills. Just taking a few others to catch me up. If they can solve that issue and I can get something done with my foot I should be in good shape. I am going to make real efforts to lost weight and see if that helps my foot. We all need to lose weight. Hubs is funny, he said quit fixing us foods that taste good just fix us stuff.

Long day. I covered someone else's class, did a PD session, and still had to get a test ready, finish prepping for tomorrow, etc.
All the stuff that I didn't do is hanging over me. I have 3 sets of essays to grade this weekend, and I want to go to Christmas Village with my DIL. Then the community college dean is coming to observe me on Monday. I guess he can't fire me because they don't pay my salary. And if he convinced my real employers to fire me, I was retiring, anyway. But I have struggled to find something he would find interesting to observe. I am not a lecturer and am not even sure how you lecture about writing when that is something you have to do.
It will be fine, but I wasn't supposed to be observed this year (she whined). I did that last year several times. Oh, come in my classes any time you want (they do), but leave the clipboard with the formal paperwork at the door.
<Sigh>

I want to lose 10 to 20 pounds, its not a good time around the holidays to start, but I hope to not gain anymore for now at least so that's a beginning. I made up my mind quite a few things I want to change. The first was get rid of all this stuff around here, I have made huge strides and I will continue working in my office, getting rid of things in the kitchen and laundry room. Otherwise its in pretty good shape now.
I know the weight on my feet does not help them, and I want to do anything I can to help them whether I get surgery or not, weight off alone will help. 170 puts me within parameters of normal so about 17 pounds to get there. I have gotten to 175 many times and just can't get below and maintain it, have to exercise like crazy and starve to do so, so its a very difficult goal for me to get to and keep. I am still feeling so much better since the dilation, I can't believe how that changed anything but somehow it has. Like I said I feel like I am getting plenty of air or oxygen whichever. If I can get my foot fixed that is going to get me very mobile again. I want an active lifestyle and I'll be damned if I'm settling for this.
So 1 goal down and a second that I didn't know was a goal till I had the endoscope. So onward to improve my health and hopefully for all of us. Dinner tonight was vegetarian with some cheese topping, but way less calories. Going to get out my vegetarian cookbooks and see what I can find we will like. It will be hit and miss for some time, but you have to start somewhere.

Not much today again.
I think hubs is going to finish my sewing room downstairs. He said he can put a ceiling in it, I need to repaint the drywall but also going to paint the outside wall of the basement. Hubs thinks it will be warm enough without insulating it. He is going to put a furnace duct into that room and add a door. I told him that would be a nice Christmas present. We wish we had a bathroom down there. There is a water spigot in the mechanical room at least. I think I may be able to get him to partition off the main area too and make us 3 really nice rooms down there. That will leave actually 4 more if he does that, the pantry plus big storage area. The mechanical room which is huge and contains all our decorations and some supplies on a big shelving unit that was left from when the house was built, we have never gone through it. Then beside it will be a big storage room with another huge box of leftover pipes and stuff I want to take out. That area has our extra clothing and shelving units with bedroom and extra kitchen supplies. 1800 sq foot of usable space down there too. I'm suggesting to hubs we put a composting toilet down there, wouldn't have to do a lot of work with that kind.
This will add a lot of usable area, like we need it, LOL! But it will make the house more saleable too, as at some point in our lives that will have to happen.
I am talking to hubs about selling about 10 acres of farm land we own, it seems to be selling for around $6k to $7k an acre, we get $1795 a year off it and pay almost as much in taxes, he is thinking about it. And the next year selling the lot in Texas, same deal there though we make about $2k off it a year, but if we can get $40k why not.

I was up early. Bible Study then hungry in worship service. I got a Target turkey that was 25% off. I took a nap this afternoon and slept so deeply that I woke myself up.
I had made a pickle jar fairy garden with rocks that my great grandson had painted like family members. I did Sponge Bob Square Pants and Patrick underwater scenes on the side. The markers faded so I painted it with paints. Sponge Bob and Patrick look like Halloween ghouls. I did find clear Christmas ornaments to paint. I have painted 3 and now have 5. The inspiration for the next one will be grasses. Watching creepy murder movies on Lifetime channel.

I graded one (large) class's essays. Then I went to Home Depot (specialty light bulb), Michael's (looking around), Walmart (groceries), and Publix (more groceries). When I got back, I did a week's worth of ironing. I do not live a very interesting life.

Hubs actually thinks I should go to his class lunch they have once in awhile tomorrow. I suppose I could, not to enthusiastic.
I would love to go shopping, not necessarily to buy but just to look. Pennys, is here, boring, Sears, not much, Steinmart on the other side of the city, its ok I guess. There is TJ Maxx, I like their kitchen and bathroom stuff the most. There is a Kohls I don't go there, Burlington, again kitchen and bath plus decorative stuff. Sams used to have some decent clothes, now its those tissue paper shirts and all the big stuff that hangs on you. I have gotten to get motivated to sew, I have everything I need, just need to do it. The stiff neck got me for a couple of days, late this evening its finally feeling better, it hurt all day. I tried BackAid didn't do much so this afternoon took my arthrotec and hydrocodone and it finally helped. This is going to be a long boring winter.
I really don't want to dress from Walmart, sigh. Around the house I'm wearing some sweats, I think that looks awful, I bought a new sort of blue colored pair for around the house but they keep me comfortable. I really miss Macys, that was my go to store. They didn't have much of a selection here but it was better then nothing.
I bought some diabetic socks, a couple of days ago, they are nice and loose, that is so much better, I can't stand tight socks on my feet anymore.
At least tonight I'm feeling a lot better. Still breathing really good, that is wonderful, the difference in that. Still hope to get in better shape, then I will feel more like doing things.
I am going to order a couple of kerosene or LED lights for power outages, we need good light for those times.

Took a large donation to Goodwill (4 boxes and 2 large bags of clothing and "stuff"). I'm trying to look at the house through the eyes of my kids after I'm gone. I still have a large box of photos to sort. A few of the pictures I'll frame and hang but most will go into the kids' memory boxes.

VA this morning and then have choir practice this afternoon. The choir has a performance this Thursday at the Wellness Center in Rogers, AR Then Sunday afternoon (Veterans Day) we perform the program called "One Nation Under God". It is a salute to all the veterans. The fun part is we sing in the sanctuary and will also be accompanied by the church orchestra.....how cool is that?

It’s nice that there are people who are proud to be Americans

Our small community center always has ceremonies honoring veterans, a very patriotic community. When we had BIL's funeral the troops that came for his honor guard said they had never been treated so nice anywhere. I bet they were, the local VFW likely let them drink to their hearts content, LOL! They do treat them really nice.
Had breakfast of French toast, DD ate the rest of the spaghetti so she is happy. It was almost noon.
I dug in the freezer and took out a big chicken, and yep big, its over 5 pounds. It will take all day to thaw, tomorrow going to make chicken and noodles. Not sure may fry some of it and have mashed potatoes and green beans. A salad?
Today thawing out some ground beef, no decision on what to make with it yet. I need to thaw out a pound of bacon so I have pieces for seasoning. Like to give things a good flavor. I may make the stuff with ground beef, stewed tomatoes, and macaroni. It's good, not really a soup, more of a stew. Mom made it a lot.
I lay out fabric for DD's pj tops, I already cut out the pj bottoms the other day. I have a shirt to mend, a pair of DD's pj bottoms to mend also, ironing to do in there. And I think some pants of DD's to make the waist smaller for her. Need to bring in a bottle of water, we have 3 left to use, I will miss my hot water dispenser though, have to heat in the microwave or my little electric teakettle. But we spent a lot for the reverse osmosis system so sure am going to use it.
Yesterday put up my inflated turkey. He twisted in the wind last night, so need to scoot him around. It got to 29 when I went to bed, think it went lower and supposed to get colder yet. It's 31 right now, there is a scattering of snow out there where the sun is not hitting.
Hubs is down putting in a microwave for some renters. Theirs the door fell off. We debated on replacing it, but they moved in so quick we ended up not doing it. No issue it needed done, hubs asked the guy there to help as its 50 pounds and you have to hold it up. I used to help or he did them alone, we are changing some of that.
It is really cold out, I had the furnace to warm, did not turn it down when I went to bed and about 5 I guess I got to warm and woke up.
