I cut down on my use of batteries by buying a ShakeLight flashlight. I live in an Urban Area with a lot of light pollution so even when there's no electricity at night it's still pretty bright inside and outside my house. I do need a flashlight but it's not pitch black in the house. I bought a couple of ShakeLights and now I no longer need to keep a flashlight "charging" or buy and change batteries. The ShakeLights have done a great job over the last 10 years... That's 10 years of fewer batteries, and the shakelights should last many many more years. Before buying something new that needs a battery ask yourself if it's really worth it... I've seen Air Fresheners that require a battery for goodness sake!!

Think about things for a while before buying them. What might be a strong want when you find it might be a resistible want even a few minutes later and if you wait a week you might forget you ever saw it.

What happened to a clean house doesn't need deodorizers? I agree for a spray on in the bathrooms but use only if the fan can't handle it! I also buy pine cleaner from a place that sells wholesale. I get 1/2 ga. for about the same price as 2-3 pine-sols & this stuff is soooo much stronger....that 1/2 gal. will last me at least 2 yrs. Love washing my shower liners with it in the washer....makes the whole house smell clean!

I'll try to remember to look up the granite recipe but what I sort of remember is maybe 1/4 C rubbing alcohol (I think I use the 90% or whatever stuff not the 70%) and a few drops of soap (I think we use Dawn) and the rest water. This makes a quart. Shake it well, put it in a spray bottle and I use a generous amount. I'm pretty happy with it. Super easy and it lasts a while.
I tried to make my own window cleaner from a recipe online and didn't like it nearly as much.

What happened to a clean house doesn't need deodorizers? Read more: notmsnmoney.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=smartspending&action=display&thread=3987&page=2#ixzz1G4AOp8KvI'm too lazy to it up so I can't cite a source, but all those deodorizers are actually bad for your lungs. Molecules of nasty things get in the air and then into your lungs. Even candles emit fumes that aren't healthy. I have two cats that I've had for 9 years. When I got them, I said that if you ever walked into my house and smelled cat, they'd be gone. So far, so good. Most of my cleaning is done with diluted Mr. Clean or Spic'n'Span. I really can't see the need for deodorizers. Disclaimer: I personally use deodorant every day.
