No, you should go for a moderately paced run. Get moving.

Otto, a lot of us are dieting. Some of us do it for all our lives. It's OK to find it tough going sometimes. But not OK to hate it all the time. It has to cross over from being a plan to becoming a lifestyle. From being something you think about all the time to something that's on autopilot. And too strict won't work well, by the way. It's like trying to live too frugally in terms of your finances. If you squeeze too hard, you find yourself deprived, and then you look for ways to cheat. Work at the exercise and eating right, but do it with other goals besides the one you have - I'm assuming that goal is weight loss. If you don't know your blood pressure, cholesterol or triglyceride levels, find out what they are. Aim to get those in line, too, in addition to the weight loss. It's added incentive, not added goals, to help keep you on track. And you can do this. You are in good company here.

Hi Otto, I hear what you are saying about the ice cream, but I as well use to have that dilemma from time to time until I decided to change my life for the better. I went through my fridge, cabinets and tossed out (actually donated to pantry) all my processed foods and sweet snacks. I now buy fruits, fresh veggies, and some meats to eat. I cook homemade meals, breads, and fruit smoothies I have for breakfast every morning with added flax-seed. I lost around 90 lbs in around 6 mths time. I also walk 2 to 4 miles per day when it is warmer weather, and since the cold weather has arrived, I now do around 2 our workouts each day. My only treat I give myself, and one of my favorites is a maple bar every 2 weeks. I do snack on a lot of apples, oranges, and enjoy cooking homemade meals.
It was hard at first, but after the second week, it got a lot easier. I can even go shopping at the market and browse the sweets and bakery section, but i don't buy anything. It is so tempting to want to buy a dozen maple bars, but I don't, and eating blueberries and grapes are just as good as candy and other junk food is.
Good luck with your diet, because everyone can change their eating habits to healthier ones. It just takes a little time to adjust to eater healthier foods.
