Happy anniversary, Murpath! It's too cold to do any hounding around here and most places are closed anyways. We're also remodeling a bedroom and in between, I've been cooking up cold weather food and baking cookies. Have a great time tonight.

Murpath Happy anniversary.
Local store had a sale on one of those ‘premium brand, all organic, plain non-fat yogurts last week. NEVER again. I’m going back to Aldi's. It is all watery.

Neither of my 2 local fruit/veg markets are running ads this week-no flyer and nothing online. Guess they figure people will be needing stuff sooo much they will pay anything. NOT!! There are other places I shop that have decent deals on veggies and I still have apples & clementines. I will survive w/o the locals.

Did I miss it? Is there a deal on Finish coming up? Unfortunately I have not seen anything. It would have been this week if CVS had their usual sale with the 2.15 MQ that came out. RA has it for 3.99 this week, so will be 1.84.

I think Target has Finish on sale. Not sure about Meijer, Safeway or WalMart. Nothing at CVS or WAG.

FreeSalsa: CVS has it at B1G150%. The price up here is usually @ $6.99. So $10.48 minus 4.30=$6.18. WAGS has it on sale at $3.99 so $1.84 after q. Same at RA. Don't know about Target.

Well, another nail in the couponing coffin for me. Just went to my one and only grocery store near my home and was checking out with a bunch of IP's, only to be told they stopped taking them 2 days ago because there was so much fraud. So, that pretty much kills my deals. There are a few grocery stores near the city I work in, none are very convenient to go to, and the last thing I want to do is grocery shop after I've worked all day. I may be happy I got that sam's membership this year after all...sigh...

I'm still waiting for the refund checks.

Today was my first adventure at a discount grocery store, I'm assuming it is the same set up as Dancinmama's Grocery Outlet.
I'm HOOKED!
My best score I would say was a 24 pack of Nathan's hot dogs, 2/$3.99. I only bought one because there are only two of us and we won't eat 48 hot dogs all year! There were also boxes of Cascadian Farms organic cereal for .99/box that I picked up and some items and brands I didn't recognize but my friend from work tells me they are from whole foods. I walked out with a cart full of groceries for about $28.00. It seems like this store has mostly organic and vegan items, which is new to me but something I'm certainly more willing to try at such a huge discount. I'm really not a big worrier about expiration dates, especially if something is sealed or frozen, so this was right up my alley. I hate that perfectly good food gets wasted because of expiration dates!
The downside is that this place is about 45 minutes from my house. We do have family in the area and it's not unheard of that we're up that way about once a month or so, so this will definitely be a stopping point for us from here on out. Next time I will bring a cooler with me as they had greek yogurts 10/$2.00 today and we are big consumers of yogurt.
I am so happy that we went, although to ease the blow on the driving we made a day of it and went for lunch too. It was a really good day and I'm hoping this catches on in my area and we get our own store soon!

Constanz NONE of my independent markets take IPs. However, their prices are SOOO much better than the chain stores that I do shop them primarily. Once in a while I find something at CVS, Wag or Dollar Tree and am able to use an IP.
I envy those of you w/Grocery outlet type stores. I wouldn't even mind a distant trip 1x/month or so, especially since it would likely be closer to oen of my daughters or the BIG outlet malls in northern IL or Kenosha WI.
One of these days I need to do a shop for me day. Will need several nice (reasonably warm) days in a row so all needed errands get done & then I can do me.

I am coming close to half of my budgeted amount for the month. I have bought almost a month's worth of meat, a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables, and *gasp* Christmas candy on clearance. I got a lot of dye free/scent free detergent too at amazing prices. Do you ever get a little excited when there is a coupon for one of your favorite treats? I have been hoping for one for Celestial Tea. Today there is one in the paper, and I said YAY! I need to get out less. Trust me, as a mailman it is get out less not more.

My store that stopped taking IP's isn't really an independent market. They are a small chain in the area. Oh well, it is what it is. My exciting purchase of the day was Hellmann's mayo, 30 oz jar for $1.00, after $1 store coupon and .99 MC, after I just bought some a week and a half ago at Target for 2.99 after coupon cuz I was OUT. Oh well, I have two now that should last me awhile...

I've managed to answer my own question from several weeks ago about %-off coupons at CVS. Here was one of my transactions from Friday: excedrin 24-ct: 4.99 excedrin 200-ct: 16.29 -$1/1 excedrin -$3/1 excedrin 200 ct. -4.26 (20% off CVS coupon) -$13 EBs = .02 OOP, got back $10 EBs for the excedrin This answered a couple of questions: 1. The 20% coupon took off a full 20% from the transaction, even though the excedrin was technically a "promotional" item that was producing EBs. The coupon worked because the excedrin was not on sale for a discounted price. 2. The 20% coupon reduced the total to less than $20 (the threshold needed to produce the $10 EB), yet they still printed. 3. The larger excedrin was 16.29 OR 2/$30 as indicated on my receipt, but it still wasn't considered a sale item. I had read on other boards that a deal like that might be considered a sale, even if you don't take advantage of the promotional pricing. I was kind of trying the transaction as an experiment, and it worked better than I thought it would Those %-off coupons aren't always very useful because of all the restrictions, but at least they might be helpful on occasional deals.

I don't think I have bought anything at CVS since about Black Friday (and that was a BAD sale). Strangely I have been shopping at WAG MUCH more than usual.

I stopped by CVS yesterday and got the $0.50 CRT for the soup and used a $0.50 EB to get it for free. Reduces the need to stop by there unless something really good comes up.

Got my grocery ads either in the mail flyer or online for sales starting today. Nothing excites me. That is probably a good thing as it is supposed to get cold here again.

I have a $5/$20 on my J4U account at Safeway and I also have a J4U price of $1.85/box on Bigelow tea (Constant Comment). I'll be buying (11) 20-count boxes for $15.35 or around $1.40/box.
DS has a $5/$30 on his J4U. He has a 20% off bread/buns AND Safeway raisin bread @ $1.49/ea. in his J4U account. This means the final price will be $.89/ea. instead of the regular price of $2.99. Cheetos/Fritos are BOGO in the ad and he has a J4U price of $2.24/ea. which will make them $1.12/ea. But that means I'd have to buy (15) of each item to reach $30 which is waaaaay too many. I need whole cloves and I can get a 1.5 qt. of Dryer's ice cream (after J4U) for $2. I can throw in 50 cnt. bakery cookies if I need to or look for a manager's meat special to help reach the $30 mark.

Last time I did CVS was with the $50 each from the PayPal card. I bought corn oil and staples even at the high prices it was all free so it is safe in the cupboard. These days I am paying much more attention to Swagbucks and am on target to get $30 in gift card for amazon this month. Dh also runs it and is buying pool shock and pills with his to cut down on that expence ....pools are not cheap to run we need a filter and hope to pay $85 or less for that. we got a "used" one from amazon last year, by used they meant someone opened the box and returned it. So i try and get 6 gift cards a month and a few for him. like i said to dh every little bit helps out not there is no mq savings. My score from the GO was 2 boxes of newtons fruit things at $1.77 ea. They are a really nice cookie well worth the $ Oh and WM is selling purdue turkeys @&1.18 lb. A great stock up price for me.

Just wanted to pop in to say hello It's been awhile since I was here! We are currently STILL working off the stockpile from three years ago. Right now I am trying to not really buy any more than what we need as we are planning to move and may be somewhere even smaller in the interim. But I think of you all often and hope someday to jump back into the "game" (or, what's left of it). Did you all see DHunny on the GMA show? gma.yahoo.com/blogs/abc-blogs/super-savers-share-favorite-frugal-tips-121735613.html

Been meaning to posts great unmarked clearance deal at Rite Aid. 172 count Kleenex colors are ringing up .62ish. There are coupons, both MC and IP's and also a cat deal $1.50/7 and $2.00/9. My store had a ton the other day cuz they aren't marked. But, I bought the last 5 this morning.

Saveinla, I went to your farmer's market this morning and stood in line for the eggs that must be amazing since people were lined up down the sidewalk for them--and not expensive either! I can't wait to try them. Nice market, I got just a few other things, including a delicious cucumber that I paid too much for but I really wanted a cuke. It's delicious.
