I am year end paper de-cluttering, geez the paper stuff I've kept. Now I need to find a confetti shredder to get it all torn so I can put it in the fire pit up at my brother's place.

Sugi, if you're going to burn it anyway, do you really need to shred it first?

Hey all - I'm going to be starting the 2015 thread tomorrow so we have some time to get in goals for the new year!
Just got home and the dogs are snoozing. I got sick on Friday and am now feeling all kinds of craptastic! trying to get caught up and everything put away tonight.

Thanks Smart in advance for the new thread! I got a lot done tonight! I keep all the papers for the house and everybody but DH in one vertical filing drawer in the desk. (DH shares another drawer with the papers from the rentals.) That desk drawer has been VERY tight for a couple of years. Tonight I burned a bunch of old tax returns, phone bills, health insurance papers, etc) and now there is room! Since I finally have room in that drawer again, I went through ALL of Shitepile (rather than just the recent mail), and burned or filed most of that too. I still have some mail to deal with but just a few things. Mon/Tues list: - pick up Bunny- completely finish Shitepile - bank (deposit check)

Most of the Christmas stuff is down and away. The outdoor lights are still up and couple odds and ends are still out. Next weekend the outdoor lights will come down and then they and the Christmas tree stands will go up into the attic.
I haven't moved the sewing table back into the kitchen yet but it isn't in the way of anything where it is.

Count updated to 1150
Added another 36 to my total from things I threw out last week or donated. I picked up 8 new bins for organizing my holiday decor today and have filled up 4 of them already. Am hoping to get another 100 things out to Goodwill this week if I feel better. I'm somewhat tempted to hoard everything to make my January count much higher but I suppose I'll be reasonable here. Working on my to do list for the house for next year and looking to build some new things in the coming months Right now I'm looking at a new table for behind the sofa with storage, a workbench in the garage and 2 tall towers to hold the new bins. I have a truck for the next few weeks too so I'm going to pick up all the wood and pegboards for the garage.

I actually made some progress over the Holidays. Did a massive cleaning in the basement that involved cussing and swearing at the top of my lungs at DH. I was home alone, once again stuck cleaning while he shopped. Decided that if we are NOT done with shopping by 12/20/15, there is no Open House on Xmas eve and MIL can just get over herself. Also got a bunch of stuff out of the kids rooms and back into the basement. And it's mostly organized in the basement. Except for the stuff the kids were playing with down there and the 2 bins of crap from DD's room that I want to go though before putting them on the shelf. DH was supposed to go though it but balked. I emptied DH's suitcase onto our bed this morning. This is the last of his stuff from the Vegas trip in early Nov. and I needed the suitcase for the kids overnight at my Mom's tonight. So now he'll have to deal with it. I usually don't care how long it takes him to unpack but since I needed something for the kids and didn't want to go back to the basement....

I made progress on the unpacking front yesterday. Ok, DH and I did. I'm slow as molasses uphill on my own. The living room only has 2 boxes left in it. Picture albums and other homeless stuff. I've asked Mom if I can have one of the millions of shelves she has that's bigger than the one I have. We'll see if she'll part with anything. Other than those 2, the living/dining/kitchen area is DONE. My bedroom is another story......

Snort, my bedroom is another story and I don't have the excuse of moving for it.

This time I have an excuse, usually it's just DH doesn't like the living room to be all cluttered so he clutters our room instead.

I've been absent from this thread and really slacking on the decluttering front.
I'm combining my New Year's Resolution with my decluttering dreams for 2015.
I WILL gain FULL control of my house and the crap in it. I made a good start this year, but I didn't go far enough.
I'm about to begin by sorting and organizing the Christmas clutter.

Speaking of cluttered bedrooms, this year the Christmas tree was put in OUR bedroom. (Usually, one of the kids wants it, but neither did this year.) We traditionally take down the tree on New Year's, so we'll be stuck with it a few more days.
I switched out Mom's laundry, & picked up her little tree to store back at our house. I mailed the last of the Christmas cards (except for one that I'm still waiting on an address correction on), & this afternoon I plan to catch up on my filing.

It looks like we'll be sending out Groundhog's Day cards again this year instead of Christmas cards....
