I was driving down the street yesterday and realized how many of the buildings were government agencies and how few were private businesses.
I believe that the ratio should be skewed to be far greater on the private business side.

I'll bite since it seems no one else will. What city is this that has more government buildings than private business?

No - just this area seems to have nearly an equal portion. This area does not include the state capital and the building surrounding it. We have several VA related building. Several immigration services related buildings. Several court houses. Several BIA buildings. Several emergency service buildings. Several public schools and district offices. All different parts and levels of government - but really - just so much government.

Being in the capital city, yes there are a large number of government offices in the downtown area. You don't really realize how many until you drive there on a Furlough Friday, the reduced traffic is just amazing.

I can't argue that.I actually invested in a REIT that concentrated on government properties a few years ago and did very well on it til it got bought out by another firm.

I don't see that. My town is on the upswing from the last 3 years. A lot of new business and construction.
