I love Rachmaninoff's rhapsody, nia. It's so soothing. Just beautiful.

When I was a teen, my friends and I loved to take our piano practice time and fill it up with improv. My mom was not a musician and never really noticed, but my dad caught on pretty quickly so I had to choose my practice times with that in mind. A few years ago, I ran into a kid on YT who dabbled in improv and was certainly better than I every was. He was 15 or so with a wonderful gift for taking music many would consider boring and staid and bringing it to life. Some would think - "heretic!" but I thought it was delightful and besides it reminded me of my own misspent youth. Fast forward to 2013. The kid on YT should be almost winding up his edu at a music conservatory in New England. He has quite a collection of fans, composes, performs and records ... plus still takes time to add a YT video now and then. He started with Pachelbel's Canon and here's the most recent version I see. Not fancy but a lot of fun. Enjoy.

Played beautifully by Zimerman.
Krystian Zimerman (born December 5, 1956) is a Polish classical pianist who has been hailed as one of the finest living pianists.

Played beautifully by Rubinstein. Longing of the heart and euphoria.
