Do you use a lot of hair products? What do you use and why? Do you use any mousse, gels, oils, etc? Do you find that makes a difference? I have very fine hair that is hard to manage and doesn't stay put. I really like the Got2B spray for hold but i think they are discontinuing it.

I have very fine hair, but a lot of it. Any heavy product makes it very limp. I swear by Ulta thickening conditioner and gloss treat once a week. I use Aveda confixor for styling and it works great.

I used to put these of products a lot but then it started damaging my hair. Now I simply use alterna shampoo and again the same shine, texture and density of my hair is coming back. So I will say everyone to use them in limit.

I use a firm hold styling gel daily to keep the locks under some control. I use an extra firm when my community theatre role requires a slick back look.
Edit: whoops, didn't see this was for Women in Red. Sorry about that.

I also pretty much only use aveda products.
Though John Frieda just relaunched a beach spray. It's not quite the same formula but they say it's better due to advanced technology. Lol. I need to get my hands on it and try it out. If it's as good as the old stuff that might be all I use. Definitely was pretty much the only thing I used all through high school.

I don't put products in my hair usually. I only put mousse in my hair when I wear it curly which isn't very often. I usually flat iron it straight.

I gave up products like mousse and hair spray a long time ago. It's really fine, and there's a lot of it. Putting stuff in it just frustrated me. If my hair is frizzy, I use this and it seems to work really well (and smells great).

I only use basic shampoo and conditioner. I have super thick hair and have to use conditioner to get a comb through my hair after washing.
I also use hair color due to gray hair. I started getting gray in my early 20s and would be completely gray now (early 50s). I dye to close to my original color - brown. I use low cost dye at home spending $5 or so a month.

I have thick slightly kinky hair. Add to that the need to use heavily medicated shampoo for a scalp condition and it's usually frizz city. I also flat iron it after ever shampoo and that also puts stress on it.
However, I've recently started using the Aveda conditioner. A little goes a long way and the difference just a month has made is amazing.
So I use coal tar or saylicilic acid shampoo, and the conditioner, and that's it. Other products tend to make my flare ups worse.

I have very fine hair too. I recently started using Matrix Vavoom Design Pulse Loosely Defined Texture Cream. One small dot in the palm & then pulled through my hair. Using this has caused people to actually comment on my hair (this is a first)!! It makes the hair a little glossy, slightly thicker & it holds the style I put in with hair dryer and round brush. It does not make my hair crispy, which all other mousse & spray seem to cause. I am loving it. I got it as part of a gift set, so not sure how much it costs, but I will hunt it down when this runs out for sure!! ETA: This one Added benefit - no hairspray needed when I use this (I hate hairspray)

Thing 1 has oily hair and was using clarifying shampoo every day. A girl I met at work told me she used Paul Mitchell Awapui shampoo and to get her some. It has made a world of difference! The clarifying shampoo was stripping the oils from her hair and then it was over compensating and making her hair even more oily.

I was just referring to them as the oldest and the youngest for a long time. Then I remembered Thing 1 and Thing 2 from Cat & The Hat and that became their new names.

Matrix Time Reset shampoo and conditioner. Pillow Proof blow dry spray and dry shampoo. I'll have to check into this. I don't wash my hair every day. I do every other day so it won't dry out.

I guess I am lucky because I use whatever brand. I think the current bottle is some Suave lavender that I probably bought 10 years ago with coupons. It is fine, but this is shampoo only. I use various forms of mousse, but my favorite is Herbal Essence and Got2be or whatever it is called.
I am 61 and should have trouble with thinning hair and graying hair. It's pretty much not a problem with either. There is a little gray, but very, very, very little. It only really shows when I look in the mirror. I am thinking my hair is somewhat thinner than maybe before, but it is really, really thick regardless. It is also very straight, coarse, and flat.
My great-grandmother was full-blooded Native American so I am thinking this explains my hair. It definitely explains the fact that it is straight, heavy, and coarse. My daughter is a blue-eyed blonde with hair with the same characteristics.
Anyway, I use shampoo and mousee. The mousse is to give it enough body that it isn't stuck to my head. I get rid of the crispiness or whatever by brushing it a lot.

I use a sulfate free shampoo. Every week or so I douse my hair down with coconut oil and wrap it up for a bit before washing it. My hair seems to be growing better and is much healthier looking than it's been in the past. I'm not good at all the girly stuff, so I have my hair cut in a style that I can wash it, quickly dry it and maybe flat iron it a bit if it's being obnoxious. I've kinda turned into a coconut oil junkie though...head to toe moisturizer, shaving cream, conditioner, a little bit on dry hair to tame any flyaways. I tried using it for oil pulling and that didn't work out to well. Actually, I just couldn't get into the whole oil pulling thing with any oil.

I have a lot of different shampoos, I have soft enough water with our softener that I don't need conditioner. Once in awhile I need to rinse it well with vinegar water.
I do use mousse anymore, helps to give it some volume so I don't have to wash and fix it every day. The bad part about long hair and working outside in a big yard as it will smell sweaty if not washed frequently and I think that is hard on it. I tried a like a line of products called Caviar for the hair but its obscenely expensive and I'm not sure I will continue using it. I also use things like Suave I got on sale.
DD is the one always trying new products. Her hair is coarse, I died it and didn't really help. Need to make sure she has vitamins and minerals, eggs also helps her skin and hair. I'm going to try to continue using up what we have and not buy any. Same with hand creams and things like that, we have tubes and bottles of all that stuff. Dying fractures the hair (lifts the cuticle), so makes it coarser & fuller. Have you tried straightening? They have some non-toxic straighteners out now that might make life easier if she can tolerate a salon for an hour and a half.
