Dear sister: I tried to tell you the governor does not have the authority to waive the making up of snow days. Signed, Sorry you don't want to make up the time but children need their education Guess that varies by state as in West Virginia the governor does have that authority. My hometown missed a week due to issues and it was waived.

Good grief! I just got back from a movie, and before it began, a dad was entertaining a child with a video on his cell phone before the show started. Like, his kid couldn't just wait for 15 minutes, and needed to be entertained the entire time?!? The worst part was, he had the volume loud, and I was thinking I was going to have to ask him to shut it off when the movie started.

To think I got told I was distracting when I saw the Beatles Eight Days A Week movie because I was dancing in my seat. I was not standing up and I was on the aisle. I wasn't making noise, just moving around in my seat.
Got told they couldn't enjoy the movie with me acting like that.

There were several families seated in our section, and at least two of them had electronic devices loud enough for other diners to hear. Whatever happened to good ol' kid's menus with crayons??

Iggy aka IG Especially since I had heard from friends that at some showings around the country, people sang along to the songs. This was a movie with concert footage never seen before.

A thought on kids using electronics in restaurants, movie theaters, etc. We sometimes take our sons tablet with us on outings, Walmart, dentist & doctors and McDonalds. He has autism and just turned 15 this past Tuesday. YouTube is his “thing” and having the tablet with us keeps him calm and less anxious on these outings. Age wise he is fifteen and intellectually approximately two. Also nonverbal and it is hard to make him understand what is happening. I have no idea if this is the case with families some of you have seen in public places.

The volume of said distraction might need to be addressed if others can hear it. After all, there are headphones with volume limiting capabilities for small kids out there. (I am also all for any kind of help/comfort for people of any age in situations they may need it, like your son.)

And while the restaurant situation was different, your post is a good reminder things aren't always what they seem outside looking in. A side note: When they come in, her son likes to play with the Legos here in my office, and likes my "smooth windows".

Dude, We are strangers. I do not need to know the details of the surgery on your personal parts. I’d be happier thinking of you as a Ken doll, with no personal parts at all. I’ll be buying brain bleach at lunch.

I kind of doubt that this particular child had autism, because the dad had the volume on his cell phone VERY loud. My own "kid", and his friends on the spectrum, have all kinds of issues with loud sounds. (That's why those headphones that help to block noise come in handy.)

Dear potential insured, You told me last week no one else should be listed as a driver on your policy. However, today, directly in my view to the parking lot, I see someone else drove you here in the vehicle in question. Signed, Sigh....
I've called people out for that. I also had a guy tell me that his wife didn't drive. Guess who wrecked the car about a week later. People suck.

WTH is with people having their phones away from their ears so you have to hear both conversations at the top of their lungs ?

WTH is with people having their phones away from their ears so you have to hear both conversations at the top of their lungs ? Drives me nuts. I just start talking to myself loud (Yabba babba do and mumbo jumbo) enough for them to hear and think I'm touched in the head so they move off!! I can carry off crazy very convincing. Of course this only takes place in a store/parking lot, etc. Never in a restaurant- don't want to disturb more than the asshole with the two way conversation

Note to everyone in my office.... I told (some of you) so. Y'all thought that love affair between the dude and hot mama was so great, huh? He was wonderful for her, they were great together, it all happened so fast it was meant to be.... Nah. I knew better, and said so months ago. I knew the whole love on the job thing is not a good idea. Especially when it ends...badly.
This morning, I overheard hot mama all gushy over the dude, and how they were looking for a place together for him, her and her two kiddoes. He called out today for some murky reason involving "family issues." Even our HR boss could not make heads or tails of his reason for being out. He showed up today at 5 p.m., a half-hour before closing, announced that this was his last day and cleaned out his desk.
Yup. Her meal ticket is gone (literally; he was buying her lunch every day because she never had any money). Dumped hot mama and outta here. Talk about awkward.

He’s probably married and his wife found out! Nope....he is single. But the thought is he met someone else and was scared of committing to her and the kids. There was a few years' age difference between them, but a vast difference in terms of life experience. She is twice-married and two kids. He's a single dude who likes to fish, party and play golf and live life on his own terms. He is not hurting financially; owns a motorcycle and a truck and lives in a decent rental apartment alone.
As far as I know, neither of her baby daddies is in the picture, sooooooooo...........he would have been picking up the financial slack on those kids. I think he saw the walls closing in and ran. Did not say a word to me when he left. Not a surprise. And I was glad my desk was surrounded by a cubicle taller than me. Because if he'd seen my face, and known what I wanted to do to his sorry ass, he would have run faster. Frankly, the last thing he would have packed up as he left were his teeth in a baggie. I don't much care for hot mama (she's a snitch and a kiss-ass) and I never trusted him from the start. But still...you have no class when you do this to someone. And as much as I'd like to say to her, "Toots, you can do better for yourself than that," I won't.
