Dollar General is having a promotion where you buy 3 of certains items and get $2.00 off instantly. I bought 2 pouches of Country Time lemonade @ $1.00 each and a Jello @ $.75. Subtotal was $.75 and then I used a $1/2 MQ on the lemonade. She gave me $.25 back. I did the deal twice.
At Staples I used my $2.00 reward to buy Avery tabs for $2.00.
Rite Aid had Bayer BOBO1/2 and earn $2.00 UPs. I used $4/2 MQ and $1.00 VV to get free Bayer and $4.00 in UPs. Colgate was $3.50 minus $1.00 MQ and get $3.00 in UPs. Oral B TB was $2.99 minus $1.00 MQ and get $2.00 in UPs. I hadn't been shopping too much at Rite Aid the past few weeks but this week there are a few good deals.
I used my two $5.00 catalinas at Family Dollar to get some Gain fabric softener, saran wrap, Cascade and a jar of roasted peppers, spending $1.91 and saving $11.40.
I used my 30% Kohls coupon to get a pair of pants and a couple of tops and got $10.00 in Kohls cash back.
I price matched almost everything at Walmart to get what I need for 4th of July.
Marvholly, you're doing good if you're getting Christmas gifts out of the way.

Does everyone want to have a new thread for July? I will start it but I doubt it is even worth it really as June didn't even use up three whole pages. dancinmama I just opened my last 12 pack of toilet paper. I thought you would like to know.

Geez, I remember the days we had 5 pages a day, now we can't hit that in a month! Toilet paper! I am still working of my stockpile of Scott I bought at Price Chopper, well over a year ago, during a Kimberly Clark cat deal that rolled. I was paying like $1.xx per 12 pack. I bought 13, think I sold two to BFF. I just opened one the other day and thought I need to see how many more I have in my cabinet in the utility room. TP has not been on my radar for SO long, I don't know what I'll do when I have to start buying it again!

I bought 2 Kraft salad dressings and 1 A-1 sauce @$2.00 each at Dollar General. $6.00 less $2.00 off instantly less $2.00/2 DGIPQ less $1.00/2 Kraft IPQ = $1.00 OOP. The Dollar General IPQ's are on their website.
Constanz, I remember when you got all that Scott TP. I wish I could find a deal that good. I have enough to last until some time next year but I think I will be doing the Quilted Northern deal at Rite Aid this week since I have extra UPs.

My DG is so coupon unfriendly though...we'll see... So, I had to just go look downstairs and I still have SIX 12 packs of Scott, plus the one I just opened. I only had maybe one or two other smaller packs of other various TP so I will easily have another YEARS worth! WOOHOO!

Hi all - I'm still here, too! I have been contemplating strategies to replace couponing, or at least optimize their usage. Mostly, it's the same ole, same ole. Know your best possible price (even though it seems to change daily!), try to work the ads to your best advantage, and cherry pick! One benefit I have seen lately is using Just4u's deal-match, although I know that that is not available everywhere. We are down to three grocery chains now, and if Safeway matches some of the worthwhile deals, and saves me a trip, all is good. It's not perfect - sometimes it seems like they say they are matching it, but problems ensue. This week Times had white nectarines at $1.20 per #, compared to other stores being $2-$3. Safeway deal-matched, but no stock... So off I go to Times. Another saving trick - try to stop waste. My stores all seem to be opening large deli departments where you can purchase ready-made food - of course, it's much cheaper to make it myself, but I need to recognize my limitations. If I'm buying stuff with good intentions, but then end up throwing it away, that's not frugal! Sometimes, even after years of trying to save, I feel like a lesson in how NOT to save on groceries, which is why I don't post often. Hopefully others can learn from my mistakes.

I wasn't going to do any but the TP but now I'll do the TB and Bayer. Where is the Bayer Q? Thanks, MonicaLee for updating the thread. Certainly seems we don't need a monthly thread for coupons. But saving money on groceries is about more than coupons. Let's keep it up!

Ruby DD2 suggested for Christmas 2011 that I get the grands magazine subscriptions. Now I just check that the kids still like them & renew. Easy, peasy.
Monica Good for altering the title. We sure don’t need a monthly these days. I was thinking about that yesterday and remembering the good old days (and how many pages were the GREAT JMo stories- I miss her).
Free Salsa As I recall (already cut them out) the Bayer coupon were the week of 6/23.
So many, including my bloggers, have been posting GREAT Dollar General deals so I looked to see if any in my area. NONE. I only have Dollar Tree on my regular travels. There is a Family Dollar 3 mi away but waaaay off from my general direction of travel.

Hitenny, you made some good points about food waste costing money and I see a few of my bananas that are looking extra ripe so I might make a couple of loaves of banana bread today. I also have been price matching at Walmart on certain items. I got the best tasting red grapes for $.75 lb. and a head of lettuce for $.69.
Lately, I've been finding my bargains in different stores than I had a few years ago. I hardly ever shopped at Walmart or the dollar stores before but now I am finding that I can find some pretty good staples there. My coupon savings for June was the highest this year so far, while my spending was the lowest. However, I haven't been finding too many good rebates lately and I used to have them coming in the mail every month.
Freesalsa, the Bayer MQ's were in last week's insert RP, I think. The $4/2 expired already but there was also a $2/1 MQ that expires in August.

Aloha, Hitenny! Good to see you are still with us. Don't feel badly about your purchase mistakes. We've all been there. DD2 finally found a small quasi-one bedroom studio near the hospital where she's interning for a year. It's been newly renovated, is in a great, safe area, and was below her $1,000 budget: $925 w/all utilities, cable, and internet. Not that she'll be there much but she did need a place to shower, eat and crash! We went to tons of "viewings", filled out many applns. to no avail. We went for an ice cream after the last viewing on Saturday--totally defeated, really. Can't believe how many people were looking for studios!!! I told her to check her phone to see if there were any new ones. We found one that had a viewing scheduled for yesterday. I told her to call the lady (it was Sunday) and explain that she's a doctor, had only that day off to look at the place etc., etc.. Needless to say, the lady called her back later in the evening and she got the place. DD2 needed help with the security deposit because she doesn't get $$ until mid-July so we went out there yesterday to see it. Absolutely the best one we'd seen--and the lady wanted an intern from the hospital. Sometimes fate steps in. As for deals: I've found that combining q's with Target q's has helped the grocery bottom line. I also check out their meat because oftentimes, it is reduced. I bought 3 boneless pork chops for $1.74 after one such reduction. Like Dancinmama, I also frequent the Grocery Outlet and the 99cent store. Although not the least expensive, I love to go to the Farmers Market on Saturdays. Their summer fruit is delicious. And then there's toilet paper: wish there would be a good deal out there. I'm down to @ 50 rolls.

We had to buy a new computer/printer because our died. I cannot get the coupons.com to print. I keep installing the the thing and it downloads but still won't print. Any computer gurus out there know what I'm doing wrong. Also, this computer has the new Windows version--it's taking me forever to figure things out on this thing! Where's my "free cell" They took solitaire and free cell games off and we had to download different versions which I hate!

In my area all Salvation Army stores will be running a 50% off all clothing sale on 7/4. I preshopped my 2 stores on Tue & the one closest to my home has a blouse & a velour warm up suit I like. Also, found a dime in the bottom of a purse I looked at.
Decided I do NOT need a Sun paper this week since there is only the P&G coupon insert. The ‘values’ of their insert coupons is WAAAAY too low for me to spend $$ on a paper.
In spite of NOT hitting WAG on Tue I had a good shopping run: 2 bags chex Mix 2 pkg Oscar Mayer hot dogs 1 pkg Barilla pasta 2 cans stewed tomatoes 1 45 oz soft margarine
Total OOP was $4.75 including tax (yes, food is taxed in IL, just at a lower rate than non-food, prepared food (deli) or food out (restaurants).
Ruby I find I am shopping MUCH more at Aldi and have added Dollar Tree to the group although there are a number of items I do NOT like from $ store.
Murpath I got a new computer last Nov w/ Windows 7. Coupons.com downloaded fine BUT I can’t get smartsource to enable after I download. The only cure I have heard about is to use Mozilla or firefox.

How funny! I had no problem with the smartsource one; and I do use Mozilla Firefox.

I was given a reimaged computer to borrow with Windows 8 on it, but he was good enough to include BringStartBack on it so that I could run it like the old windows. I still can't figure out how to get rid of the freaking "charms bar" though, and it drives me nuts I gave up on the games.

I knew I was having assorted computer issues (also it was >10 y/o). I started to pay attention to the 'feedback' on asst web sites re Windows 8. That is when I decided to get a new one while Windows 7 was still somewhat around.

Strange thought: If Safeway is running eggs for 0.99 wonder what my independent markets which are usually .30-.50 less than Safeway are charging? Will be checking later today.
Anyone else? My Safeway J4U personal deal ‘used’ to be 2 pages. For the last several weeks it has only been 1 page and that includes a whopping 0.02 off/lb on bananas. NOT for me.
Not going to Saeway or Jewel this week. Not going to my 2 near home fruit/veg markets. Going to my big fruit/veg market & the one near DD1 since I will be that way Sat. Also hitting the 2 indpendent markets near whee my Dad lived. I still go there since those stores have really good deals, the good Aldi is that way, there is a Target, Burlington outlet, Marshall's, PetsMart, Staples & kohl's in the area. Usually cheaper gas than near me too but this week it is cheaper near DD1.

Dancinmama wrote: LOL!! The very thing that I bought at RA with my UPs is going to be on sale at CVS this week. I guess that's what happens when you no longer look at the ad previews.
The strange thing is that it doesn't seem to really bother me.
Looks like you "retired" along with your DH!! Cheers! You noticed!! Long story short, I simply don't need to continue rolling rewards on a regular basis to stockpile more of what I already have in abundance.....especially when the lack of stock at my CVS was regularly forcing me to stay up past midnight on Saturday nights to shop. That is not to say that I am COMPLETELY retired. I did do the Splenda deal at WAGs a while back and did the Father's Day Home Improvement GC deal at RA, but that's been about it for the drug chains for the last several weeks.

We don't use many processed boxed mixes, but one that we do use is Rice A Roni Pilaf. DH likes to have it with any type of seafood/fish. I had a J4U price of $.83/box. When I got to Safeway it was also on sale BOGO, so instead of getting the (10) boxes that I had planned for $8.30, I got 14 boxes for $5.81 or $.415/box . I remember, however, that the last time I stockpiled it, I got it for $.15/box. And where are the coupons? I remember there used to be insert coupons for Rice A Roni and Pasta Roni regularly. I haven't seen one of those suckers in a very long time. Another product that I haven't seen coupons for is Snows clams. They used to put a coupon in the inserts once or twice a year and now have completely stopped.

I just looked at the Meijer preview ad for next week and I will be saving some time NOT shopping there. Prices rose on many items and there aren't the deals that they've had in the past. I will get a couple of free Orville R. treats at Kroger with ecards, but I hope our little stores have better deals next week. I'm really glad I stocked up on pop this week.
I plan on trying to roll UPs at Rite Aid at least long enough to get a decent price on toilet paper and Dawn.
I'm hoping to get zucchini and green beans this week from our garden.

I just received an "interesting" response from P&G on my submission for the $10 whitestrips rebate. Apparently it was rejected because I used a coupon on the purchase The rebate form contains the usual verbiage about how it "cannot be combined with any other offer" but doesn't say anything specific about coupons. Certainly combining coupons and rebates has never been a problem with P&G in the past. And seriously, the whitestrips were $45! Even with a coupon and a rebate, plus UPs used and received on the purchase, I was nowhere near break even on them much less moneymaker. I already left an annoyed message on the crest FB page, but I will definitely keep this new trend in mind. I used to rack up HBA products from P&G, but I'll probably limit myself to venus razors now. I already prefer colgate and listerine for oral care, since crest rinse turns my teeth brown
