I know, I am very invested and I am working hard to stop. I also recognize that my own pride and work ethic will keep my name clean regardless of what they say or do. Many of my contacts have already reached out asking how I survived working for the male boss as long as I have. If they choose to talk shit about me, that will just reflect badly on him.
Bunny - haha! very funny, but absolutely not. I am realizing that I have put a lot of stock into measuring my professional success in line with the business success which is not correct. It feels like a family (the others that I work with) and I truly feel bonded with those people. In some ways, I feel guilt for "abandoning" them.
I am not a person who puts myself first, which has not served me well... Clearly. I am trying to change my mindset and actions but its not easy.

I can kind of relate to this, especially since most of the time I have changed jobs I actually came into an empty chair (person had left a month a go or so) or to a brand new position and had to learn as I went (self taught trial and error--what I would have given for someone to train me).....and each time when I was training someone that was replacing me I had an experience similar to what you describe.....after my 3 rd job I just learned to accept it somehow, as long as I did my best to train them I was happy

I will try to give my company plenty of time to replace me but I will give a drop dead date. My boss gave notice in January and they haven't started to find his replacement that I can see. I will give notice in January next year probably unless I get mad at the company. But I will say my last day will be May 1 or something like that. Then they have time but not all summer. April Fools day might be a good day to leave.
