I'm German Irish too. Green eyes with reddish brown hair (I think. It's been awhile since I've seen my true color) but no freckles and lily white skin. I certainly have the Irish temper and the love of drinking!

I know i am Irish because my wife always yells out O'Archie when we are in bed together. If there was any truth to that my DH would think he is God.

I am proudly not Irish, especially on that dreadful holiday. I'm a little Irish, but most people are; even my friends who immigrated say the Irish are the world's cockroaches! That said, I effing hate Amateur Day. I drink something Wednesday through Sunday. Why do I need to make a mockery of a feast day?

3/4 Irish and 1/4 German. I'm getting ready to make corn beef and cabbage this week end. I buy the soda bread though, never tried baking.

100% something else all of one kind though. But I love Irish music, does that count?

Irish by last name only. DH's father is 100% Irish, mother came from Waterford. DH is 1/2 Irish and 1/2 Italian and all annoying. He takes after the paleface burning in the sun and peeling right away Irish side. I'll stick to the Scot and English side in my family. I hate myself and apparently with good reason.

I made soda bread a few years ago, it came out OK but I could probably do better. Maybe I'll make some this weekend! My Irish great grandmother was (my mother thinks at least) an indentured Irish servant in Canada who came down here to MA at some point, interesting how that's a lot of families' stories. She was born in Nova Scotia so that's the only thing my mother can think of. She married a Scot, so technically I'm 1/8 Scot and 1/8 Irish but I usually just say Irish. My father's 100% Italian too... I also have several friends who are the same combination as I am: 50% Italian, 25% Irish, 25% German. Popular mix!

I'm mostly Irish - but not the fun, drinking Catholic Irish. I came from the boring, protestant North Irish. You know, the ones that sided with England, and hated all the Catholics. I guess the good news is that my peeps had all the money and assets. I always feel very conflicted on St. Patty's day, and just wish I were a Viking. Then I could celebrate without guilt, like my husband.

I used to get bummed out that i couldn't say I'm Irish or I'm Scottish or German or Italian..I have no firm heritage. I'm from Eastern Canada and my ancestors pretty much married who ever got off the boat. So English, Irish, Scottish, French. But now I think, hey that just gives me an excuse to go to the Highland Games and give the Macdonald side some haggis, or my French side can Vive L'Acadie! in August..my great great great great grandfather was a Little so today I'm Irish.
How many hundreds of years do we have to be on another continent before we don't identify with European roots that our ancestors experienced 400 years ago but have no bearing on our present culture?
