How much do people pay for their live trees? We get a live one every year from Home Depot for $30. Usually it's a 6-foot Frazier fir. We've had great luck with our trees. They are always full, and they usually stay nice into the first weekend of January when I take the tree down.
One year we went to Lowe's and it was the only tree we've had in years that dried out quickly.

We won't have a tree this year. Between traveling to MILs and all the stuff that's piled up in the living room due to the kitchen remodel there's no space. Hopefully the bulk of the construction ends by Wednesday and I can at least put up a wreath on the front door. I don't dare do it before because it's bound to get whacked!

And that is to walk out in the field, cut it ourselves, and haul it back to the car. Nobles are slow growing so they cost more, but they are the best trees ever. But the tree will be fresh cut and last up to 5 weeks. And we get free cider, candy canes, entered in a raffle and sometimes a hay ride to the upper field.

I think we'll have our first tree next year. I'll pick up lights and ornaments and a tree stand/tree skirt post-Christmas clearance this year. I would like to have a decorated house - I love walking the dog around the neighborhood and smiling at the lights during the holiday season.

If you are planning on a live tree, don't skimp on the tree stand. A good one is worth every penny in the trouble it saves.

I put my very small tree on an end table, but the new cat decided that each ornament needed to be removed. I have already taken it down. She is just a year old, so I will try again next year. I have had cats where I could have Christmas trees.

We always get our tree from a tree farm. This year, we got it on 12/01, but DS and I have been too sick too do anything with it so it is standing bear in our front window.

We just got ours on Saturday and it was $50 for any tree on the farm. We have a whole group of us who make a day out of it. No snow this year so the kiddos were disappointed that they couldn't sled or snowboard down the hills, but the dog loved the long walk and meeting all the other doggies. She was shivering by the time we were done, so I broke down and bought her a doggie sweater on Sunday.

The other reason I'll miss getting the tree is that this may be the last year that my poor old beagle will be up to going out with us. Not sure he'll be around next Christmas. ETA He loves the free candy canes

Last year was a shitty year. For multiple reasons. We did not feel festive. I'm the one who always gets stuck putting together our tree, and I just didn't want to do it.
So instead, I stuck a 5 foot pole inside one of my potted plants, then draped a strand of Christmas lights around the pole and called it my festivus tree. DH thought I was joking and would go ahead and drag out the tree and all the ornaments, but nope - we opened our presents under the festivus tree on Christmas.
Can't get away with that this year, I've got all my in laws coming over for Christmas. They already think I'm kind of strange, so I better go the traditional route. Dang it.
