Speaking fillet, I had what was supposedly fillet mignon at three separate events over the past couple of months. None of the three were remotely good and one of them was actually not edible. It had the texture of dry meatloaf. ugh.

My dog ok with eating onions....maybe it is just because we didn't know 'dogs not supposed to'...said who?
Whats the diff between leftovers? If its lobster leftovers or mignog leftovers or bologna leftovers...I am not going to eat it - its leftovers!!!!!!!!

Afew years ago we weren't supposed to eat eggs! Remember? Now they say 'especially for women' - eggs are excellent source of everything for beauty and health ad not at all bad cholesterol! So do you think I will trust some faded website with no apparent reputation? Of course my dog eats onions if they are in good smelly leftovers!

Trust whomever you want... just thought I would bring it to your attention, not everyone is aware of the problems onions can cause for pets.
I do hope no harm comes to your dog, but I also think it's pretty irresponsible to dismiss any suggestion that something you're feeding your animal could cause major health problems. It's not the type of thing that is going to cause them to keel over immediately, but long-term consumption CAN cause major problems for dogs. If you don't like the link I posted, look it up for yourself.

My husband's ex psycho best friend feeds her dog chocolate cake. Big huge slices of it. Used to drive me insane!

TLoony - If you love your dog and you don't want high vet bills try not to feed him onions, chocolate, garlic, mushrooms, grapes, raisins... that may be toxic to your dog. Why risk it or why risk smelling their stinky farts? You do know dogs feel pain and get sick like humans, right? Here is a list of foods that could hurt your dog: www.wisegeek.org/which-foods-are-toxic-to-cats-and-dogs.htm

It had the texture of dry meatloaf. ugh. LOTS of butchers/stores in the US treat "tenderloin" as "filet mignon" even though true filet mignon consists of only a small part of the tenderloin. So it's completely plausible that at 3 events serving "filet mignon" you weren't actually ever served filet mignon.

'true filet mignon consists of only a small part of the tenderloin' You mean 6lb piece of meat I bought only 'partially a mignon'? Which part? Left or right? Filet mignon IS tenderloin, however only those 'pretty' medalions you can serve on a plate to look pretty are 'mignons'. The 'tail' is not so pretty on the plate so it will be used as 'tenderloin bits' or something else but it is SAME SAME SAME meat!!! THE SAME!!!!!!!! And POM! Just don't take your dog to the vet and you will not have vet's bills

true filet mignon is from the front of hte tenderloin, it's the part which is smaller and comes to more of a point.
::Filet mignon IS tenderloin::
That's true, filet mignon is tenderloin, but all tenderloin is not filet mignon.
ETA: Even better than my explanation, justme posted a nice picture that shows it really well.

Some of the filet I've had probably isn't true filet, but does still come from the tenderloin, and is still freaking delicious and amazing.

Also, true filet mignon can be hard to cook. Tenderloin tends to be easier due to the size.

Actually in France it refers to the tenderloin of a pork. In the US it is the tenderloin of beef. Same cut different animal.

Actually the term "filet mignon" means a filet that is small, dainty and cute. In North America, it traditionally refers to beef. If you order filet mignon in Quebec, you're not going to get pork.

Tloony you might want to check what country you are in. Just because they use the word filet mignon in France doesn't mean it is the same thing in the US.
There are several words I have learned in Italian that means something different in English.
Bimbo being one.

I don't think you should say that to Angel. It's not nice, and she's married to a large, armed man. Plus she swings a mean Cabernet bottle. Plus she knows guys named Luigi and Vinny, and they can outfit you with concrete overshoes in exactly your size.

And what does bimbo mean in Italy? I will make sure to ask Luigi and Vinni when they come for me...I am not sure I'll be able to tell you. Unless they will only come for my body....
