Yep. That's why we told the folks at the daycare why we pulled DD out and yes, we did call and report the incident to child protective services.
I will NEVER again expose my kid to that kind of risk if there is any way I can help it.

OMG that is horrible captain! You made the right decision.
After several experiences trying to be the "beacon of light" for some messed up friends I've decided that I am not equipped to be one and I refuse to expose my child to it.

Drama - that is the reason we will likely have an only child. I will not expose DD to any risk that can be avoided and I've seen and heard too many horror stories about what happens to the poor kids before the finally get into "the system".

"I ask DD what happened after the friend's mom picked her up and she said the friend was choking our pet with it's collar and threatened to do the same to her if she told." That is truly disturbing ETA: I know a family who had a foster kid who set their cat on fire. This child was also only 6 yrs old. She had been severely abused by both her biological parents and then by a different foster family. By the time this loving family got her she seemed beyond help and they couldn't have her around because they were afraid she might harm other kids in the family. This was several years ago and I sometimes wonder what this child is doing now. sometimes it is hard to help a child once they are so far gone. Almost40 - sorry to hear that. I wish I had some answers.

I think it is a really rotten situation for those kids and I feel bad for them, but I have to think of my child first. She was here first and is my responsibility. I am not going to put her into the type of situations I landed myself in in high school.

I give serious props to the foster families who take those cases on.

I don't foster care is a great answer i either. There are good foster families, no question. But, there are some pretty sad foster families and abusive foster families as well. And the best of a bad situation is to get help for their mom and dad and to try to help them learn to become better parents so the kids can grow up with their own families. And, yes, some of those families are not so great, but the alternative of foster care may actually be worse.

But the nice thing about foster care is if they are abusive, you can easily be moved. Doesn't take years and dozens of chances.

I wouldn't be so sure about that.

Well, I am sure. I checked on those foster homes. At least monthly. So does the caseworker so there's at least twice a month.
