Thank you all. I didn't get a chance to login over the weekend. You all gave me some really good suggestions. I will make a list and see what works for us. Again, thanks a bunch.

"I don't want him playing too many video games or watching too much TV. We allow 1 hour of screen time every day. I also want him to learn to entertain himself without constantly looking for company."
You should consider loosening that restriction in the summers. Also consider a weekly library trip.

Last summer I made a schedule - A craft, an activity, a movie or computer time, reading time, time with friends, lunch time and free time.

The gs's are signed up for some week long camps. Like the Y, the near by Audubon Nature Center and the town theater for arts. We, as grandparents, will be filling in too. I think we'll be stittng at their house because their community pool is across the street from their house.

I've not read all the way through...I'm supposed to be working. I'm seriously type A, so this doesn't work for everyone: We have morning, afternoon, and evening lists. Chores, educational activities, fun, and exercise are worked in throughout the day in addition to brushing teeth, etc. There's a routine to the day so that everyone k ows what to expect.
