But it does happen. I know of two cases. One being my next door neighbor who was celebrating her last child going to K. The end of the year she had her last child for sure as she demanded doctor tie her tubes after she gave birth for the very last time! The other happened many years ago so there's a 16 and a 17 year old when the last child was born. Surprise!

My DH had a vasectomy - the odds of an "oops" happening after a vasectomy (according to my OB/Gyn) is 1 in 600. Better odds than winning the lottery!!!

I have threatened to send DH back for a second procedure just to make sure it didn't repair itself!

Yikes! Dark, you can. Heck from time to time to see if you. Are still shooting blanks. I think I would with odds like that.

I don't normally ask about your kids either, but I'm feeling all paternal today, so please share your favorite "I must be doing something right" stories. I've been thinking about this all day and well I can't think of any story lately that makes me think I've been doing something right. Oh the pleasure of having a 2 year old who only wants to push the limits. Dark - Your girls sound amazing and as a fellow 30 year old, count me as another who thinks you are too young for kids that old. I know I am.

I had a nightmare like that the other day. We were watching our daughters graduate, either high school or college I'm not sure which, and Loop turns to me to tell me she was pregnant. She was like hugely pregnant when she told me. Cut to a freaky hospital and her giving birth. Cut to us at home waking up in the middle night with baby crying. Then I woke up drenched in sweat. That's hilarious. Your "backup vasectomy" is called Loop getting her tubes tied. Just sayin'.

He is very open minded and respectful to everyone. We were having friends over for dinner one night when he was 9 or 10 and he asked who was coming and I said "Angela and her girlfriend" He said "They are lesbians right?" I said that yes they were lesbians. His response was "Cool, I don't have any lesbian friends yet" I your boy.

Your "backup vasectomy" is called Loop getting her tubes tied. Just sayin'. Then I would still have a chance of spontaneous correction on my vasectomy and she'd have a chance of spontaneous correction on the tubal. Maybe I should just have my testicles completely removed. I could get some Nueticles put in instead.

I could get some Nueticles put in instead. TMI dude. TMI. And what are the odds of BOTH tubal ligations failing? One in a gazillion? At that point wouldn't you assume that your kid was really, really interested in being born and just decide to let them?

My 16 yr old DD is on the beach playing hooky from school today. Does that make me mother of the year or what? Mine would be, but the weather is nasty. ;D

You'll need to give my DH some moral support when the time comes. At the moment, we'd need a boy cat and a boy human to even the playing field. Plus the two nieces and his sister. He's way outnumbered. Course, it's his own fault for not giving me a boy in the first place

ETA:
Seriously though I think it is great that your girls have such inquisitive minds.
It is also nice to see the boys being praised for caretaking
Gives me hope for the future of the human race.

Ok, Dark. You did INVITE us to brag. My son was a college senior who was graduating in August. Because of that, he had to take the final before the actual class was over. So then I get this telephone call. Him: Mom, I took the final today and then went to class. During the break, my professor asked, "Did you tell anyone what was on the final? If you did, I will have to flunk you." Me: <Heart pounding, wondering if you can really tell your child it's ok to lie but knowing that not graduating would be pretty awful>: Son, I don't know what to say. Him: Mom, I didn't ask if I should lie or not. I told him I told what the essay question was. My question to you is whether he can fail me or not. I was utterly impressed, but then this has always been my "honest" kid. By the way, I told him that if his professor told this story to anyone, the response would be: "Be glad he told you. Did you want him to lie to you? He graduated on schedule. Your girls are ALMOST as cool, Dark.

I taught DD how to add and subtract fractions in her head on a Walmart trip at the start of 3rd grade.
DS once did less than perfect on a math test so he wouldn't set the curve too high so that his buddies would get better grades.

Oh, and can't forget V.C. Andrews... Such disturbing books. Yeah, they are. VC Andrews and The Thorn Birds are the books my older sister took away from me, saying I wasn't old enough for them. My Mom never took a book away from me but she did read most of what was brought home. She can't leave a book alone.
