Late to the party here but damn, Dark, that sucks. At least you didn't lose yours 4 months after getting married like my dear, dear husband did We replaced it with a nice looking $50 tungsten band from a mall kiosk guy, the same one my best friend's husband replaced his with after he lost it at MY husband's bachelor party

Grrr. You know it's hard enough finding jewelry to please one woman, trying to please five of you at once is impossible. You only have to please Loop. I'm pretty sure it is statistically impossible to please five of us at once But since you posted them we are going to comment. Don't forget, it's not our money that's getting spent. We to spend other people's money.

Some fish in Ocean City, MD is enjoying my DH's wedding ring. I ended up buying him the same ring, just a size smaller.

Go to a pawn shop and pick out something that you can both live with. Put the savings towards your new store. That's an idea too. However, I really like the ones in post #96. Granted, they could be the most expensive of what was posted too...

The funny thing is, he lost is playing manhunt in the woods. For real my DH's bachelor party was basically a huge camping/drinking/poker/grilling weekend in a cabin up in NH. My friend's husband had been losing weight and his ring was a bit loose, and it must've flew off while they were running around in the dark. They combed the place but no luck. My friend was way more upset than I was when my DH lost his, lol. My DH was just a dumbass with his ring - he put it in his hoodie pocket to help his mom with groceries, then an hour or so later realized it was gone checked the car, checked at the store, checked his sister's driveway. Nothing. Some jerk probably found it & sold it

That sucks that it slid out of his pocket. Not the best choice of places to put it though. Some guy friends of mine were out last fall. When I met them the next day for a football game they were telling me about searching the bar floor the night before to find the one guy's ring. His wife would not have been happy.

Pretty! This is my wedding band: www.jared.com/product1|10451|10001|-1|530635907|19061|19061.20805.20836 Doesn't look as good by itself as it looks with my engagement ring (pear solitaire in a high white gold setting) I'm careful w/ my rings, won't ever lose them hopefully, I still wear the little silver heart ring DH got me 10 years ago when we started dating

OK where did you find the Star Wars rings? DH is a huge Star Wars nerd and he actually suggested something like that when we got married. He also wanted to me to walk down the aisle to the Imperial March but that was a bit too much for my tastes.

My other favorite bit of wedding band history is that of ancient Jewish wedding rings. They were counted as part of the family wealth, so they were put on the bride's finger during the wedding ceremoney, and then put away. When I was on theknot.com while planning my wedding, I learned that even now among traditional Jews, wedding rings are supposed to be plain metal (no diamonds or other decoration) so that it's easier to evaluate the worth of the ring just by weighing it. I checked out your link- they are beautiful, but clearly not made for everyday wear!

I liked the ones in Dark's post #99
And you are an idiot . . . like there is no where you could have gotten a silver band with a joint showing and "found" it under the car seat or something? No worries, you probably would have gotten the inscription wrong or something & loop would call you out on it.
Loop's taste in rings is totally different than yours. I don't think you should get matching bands. Maybe the same metal but pick what each of you want. What is going to cost you is pulling off a new story to go with the rings, since you had a good story for the original ones. Letting your kids pick the inscriptions or something like that might be a meaningful way to go. Otherwise you are stuck with spelunking for a good stone to get inlaid in Loop's ring!!

Weren't you going to buy these today? I didn't even bother to vote since they so obviously were the rings you had to buy...

OK where did you find the Star Wars rings? Etsy. They're hand made by some Star Wars nerd somewhere. Search for (wedding bands Star Wars) on the handmade section and you'll find them. If you just search for wedding band sets on there you'll find freaking thousands. I had no idea there were that many people who made jewelry. And you are an idiot . . . like there is no where you could have gotten a silver band with a joint showing and "found" it under the car seat or something? No worries, you probably would have gotten the inscription wrong or something & loop would call you out on it. Maybe, but our bands were completely identical. I have pretty thin fingers for a dude, so they're even the exact same size. It was a plain half round silver band though, so I probably could find a ring that will look pretty much identical fairly easily. I mostly mentioned that I'd lost it because I was hoping Loop had found it. Next time I'll keep my mouth shut and replace it on the sly... uh... if there is a next time. Which there won't be. OK, on to page 6.

Okay, so how did we come out on the rings, Dark ? Still deciding. My SIL and nieces were in town from Hawaii this weekend, along with Loop's cousins and their babies from Utah and Washington. We'll take playing with nieces and nephews that we don't see often over ring shopping any day. For now I'm wearing some random silver ring that I found in Loop's jewelry box. She's pretty sure it wasn't a gift from an ex or anything, and it fits, so whatever. I'm half tempted to just keep the thing and not have to buy new rings, but that probably won't fly.

FI lost his from his first marriage, it was winter, and he doesn't have full feeling in his ring finger as it is, and it slipped off, he ended up finding it right about the time he was getting divorced.
This time we spent a lot of time finding a size that wasn't tooooo tight but wouldn't come off, we got him a tungsten carbide ring.

If it makes you feel any better, I think the wood ones are kind of cool, and definitely unique. But do you need to take the wood ones off every time you wash your hands or do dishes? Because that up's the potential for losing them, if that's the case. And I like #96 too. And the one Dark posted shortly after that.

But do you need to take the wood ones off every time you wash your hands or do dishes? I'm not sure. One of the guys selling wood rings offers a lifetime guarantee and free periodic refinishing. He says they're basically waterproof as long as the finish is kept up, so they'll withstand hand washing or bathing occasionally, but recommends taking them off before swimming and whatnot. If water gets into them they can split or crack. Other sites say they aren't water proof at all and should be removed before swimming, bathing, or hand washing. Either way I don't think they'll stand up to the way we wear our rings which is pretty much all the time. At least not for very long. It's a bummer because I really like them. We'll probably go with solid metal of some sort like the ones Loop posted that everybody likes. I did find a couple inlayed rings that are still in the running... I think. This one is 7mm wide with a 2mm inlay channel. He can make them narrower though, so we'd probably go with 4mm rings with the 2mm inlay channel so it wouldn't be as clunky looking.

Dark, both of those are very nice, but my choice is the top one. The stone is much more interesting and attractive. I also like the color and setting better.

The top one isn't stone. It's box elder with a blue stain. Wood inlays are completely sealed and don't have the water issue. The guy also does one where the wood is lightly stained blue, so the little knots don't pick up the color and stay yellow. Like this: I think they look awesome, but Loop's not a fan.
