I don't want to give Loop any ideas, but I'm all for diamond bands. My engagement ring has eight (four to each side of the center diamond), and my wedding band is solid diamonds all around, but heck, we did not go on a honeymoon. I figured it was a better investment than a trip someplace.
DH is gold with platinum inlay.

DId you lift over the weekend? No, and I already tore the house apart looking for the stupid thing, called the hotel to see if anyone turned it in, and even dug through all the seats in my car. That sucker is nowhere to be found. Did you contact the organizers of the con as well?

I'm pretty sure I was wearing it when we went to the convention. I noticed that I wasn't near the end of the day on Tuesday. I don't remember taking it off at any point. Loop is kind of ticked."
Would it be wrong of me to call you an IDIOT?!?

Anyone here have wood bands? They look pretty cool, but I'm wondering how they'd hold up? for real....no more geek conventions for you Have you considered scouring the pawn shops? Might find something "previously enjoyed" that you like for somewhat less. Or, better yet, how about going without a ring? Do you care? I figure that Loop does, but just a thought.

Would it be wrong of me to call you an IDIOT?!? Weird... that was the first word she said when I mentioned I couldn't find my ring.

Why do you both have to get new sets? Beats me. I looked all over for my ring and couldn't find it, so I mentioned getting a new one and the next thing I know Loop is looking up new wedding sets (2 rings) and showing me a picture of an engagement ring that would match one of the sets she found perfectly. I was like, "Uh.... say what now?" I'm hoping she was fucking with me, but sometimes I can't tell.

We got ours at e-weddingbands.com. DH and I both have plain platinum bands although his is a slightly different style. We never take them off- much simpler that way.

Dark, I honestly think Loop is probably most upset because of the sentimental value of the ring... DH has lost 2 and I was upset over the first one b/c that was the original and I had it engraved prior to the wedding... the second one I was more annoyed because I still have both my wedding and engagement rings and didn't understand how he could keep losing them.. but then I realized he was a guy and guys are dumb... so then I felt bad for him having to go through life as a dumb male.. and then I felt morally superior... and then... well.. you get the idea... Lmao! Dark there's an idea, if you do enough stupid shit, she'll get used to it. So then she'll just roll her eyes and call you an idiot.

I would never want a new engagement ring. Besides the fact that I think my engagement ring and wedding band is absolutely perfect, I have sentimental attachment to it. I don't wear any jewelry except my rings. I'm not a jewelry person, but I do love my rings.

A friend of mine's husband lost his on his honeymoon, it's someplace on the beach in Cabo. He had cast both wedding bands himself (he is a dentist and used the gold for castings).
Not sure if he's replaced it since then though.....

I'm starting to think she might be the dense one, since she's still surprised by whatever the latest idiotic thing is.

It took two lost rings to figure that out? Man! I saved a bunch of money! I already knew that. Dark - Check her history on the computer. I'll bet she was already ring shopping and has your ring with your other jewels. LOL!!

You eliminate the occassional strokes of brilliance!
My main concern is that your inante intelligence and good taste in choosing/staying with her may make it impossible to convince her of your level of idiocy but maybe if you keep working on it ...
ETA = Nah, don't see it happening - just accept your lack of idiocy.

I love it when Dark forces me to come to my own defense. I wasn't pissed when he lost the ring, more annoyed. He's never liked our rings though.. or maybe he's just never liked mine or something because it's "too plain" and he's always had this weird need to show off through my rings. My rings, btw, are the only jewelry I wear. And the thing I liked most about the rings is the story of it... They were given to us by a random waitress whose name I don't even remember. She overheard us talking about how difficult it was to find a ring on the cheap, so she got her husband to make them for us and gave them to us. I love that our rings were the product of a random act of kindness. I also liked that they're beat to shit, show the joint, tarnish easily, and all the other metaphorical things that resemble an ACTUAL marriage. Perfect rings are for delusional people Anyway, since he's always wanted to get new bands anyway, I figure we might as well get a new matching set. I'll probably still wear the old band *too*, but we're in this mess together, might as well express that. Plus, we're coming up on our anniversary and have no other gift plans, so it's convenient.

Ours don't match either. And I'm not wearing mine right now. I got all scaly underneath my rings so I took them off to heal.
My parents will be married 50 years this October. I don't think my Dad's worn his ring in 49.8 years... His ring is HUGE - both in circumference and width. I'm not sure what it's made of but I don't think it's gold.

Ours don't match either. And I'm not wearing mine right now. I got all scaly underneath my rings so I took them off Beth, that has happened to me in the past. Soap and moisturizer and crap gets stuck in the openings and causes irritation. I let mine soak in a hot water/white vinegar mixture and then scrub with a toothbrush to get that crap out.

Yeah, I think it's chlorine. I wore then to water aerobics a couple of times in the 2 weeks before this happened - I was hoping the chlorine would help clean them even though it's bad for the metal.

It's not like I lost it on purpose!
Dang women... *grumble grumble grumble*
Don't I get any credit for not losing it for over a decade? That's not bad right? Longer than most marriages last.
