Unfortunately with medical marijuana being passed by the voters of different states all the idiot needs to do is scream 'medical discrimination'. This is going to open a huge can of worms that no one wants except the pot heads and other druggies.
At times voters don't see beyond whatever someone wants them to see. Sad and gut-wrenching.

"At times?" - I think you meant "Most all of the time..."

This is going to open a huge can of worms that no one wants except the pot heads and other druggies. At times voters don't see beyond whatever someone wants them to see. Sad and gut-wrenching. Unless the person has a valid prescription, they'd have no claim of medical discrimination. This is the usual uninformed rant against medicinal marijuana. Would it be better if the person was popping vicodine at work?

Vicodin at work would depend on the drug testing policies at your job.
Another name for vicodin is the 'poor' man's heroin.

Vicodin gives a positive for opiates on drug screening.
One 'hit' of marijuana can keep your urine drug screen positive for 90 days.

I once tested positive for codeine on an employment drug test. I was recovering from pneumonia and had a prescription, all I had to do was show it to them.
A mechanic at a hospital I worked at got fired for being caught twice in the same night huffing nitrous oxide off the main supply tank.

We've had guys get fired for all kinds of dumb-azz stuff. Smoking pot at work (um, guys, we're federal employees--probably not the brightest way to be spending your time here...) stealing brass and copper from work, racking up a government credit card to pay for vacation and drinks at the bars, and looking at kiddie porn on the government computers. Can't think of anymore at the moment, but pretty stupid stuff.

Yep. And just because something is legal doesn't mean your place of employment can't have a policy against it anyway. Alcohol is legal, but I'd still get fired for drinking at work.

I didn't say that they can't have a policy against it. I'm saying that you don't get to cry medical discrimination unless you have a legitimate medical condition resulting in a prescription for medicinal marijuana. And why, pray tell, is vicodin less harmful in the workplace than medicinal marijuana?

Several night shift nurses have gotten fired recently for sleeping on the job. Other employees use their cell phone video cameras to capture the offenders napping. God help the patients that might have needed them during that time...

A nursing assistant in the ER was stealing wallets from patients. He kept them in his trunk. A lady saw him steal hers, reported it, they searched his car, and found several wallets and tons of narcotics

A nurse I know got fired for stealing narcotics. A different nurse had pulled the narcotics out of lock-up and a code-blue was called (pt's heart stopped). In the rush to help the patient, she sat the meds down in the med. room. When she came back, they were gone. The hospital drug tested everyone one the floor that night, he was the only one to test +, yet he denied everything.

I had a co-worker who routinely slept at his desk or would disappear and go out to his car and sleep. It took quite a while but they finally got rid of him. Now he drives a semi.

There's a reason why illegal possession of vicodine is a more serious crime than possession of marijuana.

I don't care if you're smokin' dope w/ a legal prescription, you are not driving the heavy equipment or working in a production area where I work. I value my safety too much!

My body's wired weird. I've had tylenol 3, percocet, and viccodin. They do a whole heck of a lot of nothing for getting me twisted or knocking down the pain. Then again tylenol in general does nothing for me. Its gotta be ibuprofen to do it. And since narcotic painkillers are generally mixed with tylenol I'd say that's why they don't work for me.

It's not a good idea to pee on a coworker. The guy then wrote a 17 page letter of explanation hoping to get his job back.

You should ask for vicoprofen then (it's vicodin and ibuprofen)

Yeah I know some of them are mixed with ibuprofen. Fortunately I haven't needed any in awhile and I'd like to keep it that way. Now muscle relaxers on the other hand will knock me out like no other.

How do you write a 17 page letter trying to explain or justify peeing on a co-worker?

a lot of nonsense about it being a natural bodily function and gibberish about time in his mother's womb, etc. It was a doozy.

Stupid Ways To Lose Your Job......
A stupid way, really stupid? An ex BIL of mine got fired from the P.O. for stealing toilet paper. Of course he had done a lot of other stuff but they caught him red handed with the tp & used it as an excuse.

Yeah, I want to know that too. That could come in handy. You never know. Double spaced?

It's not as difficult to fill 17 pages when one hand writes a letter. He didn't directly target the other guy, that guy just happened to be in the flow trajectory. The peed-upon was on a creeper working underneath the product our company builds. The Pee-ee was up inside the product and couldn't be bothered to climb out (and walk 10 ft. to the restroom) to do his business .... the result was a warm golden shower trickling down from above. The peed-upon couldn't figure out at first where the liquid was coming from or even what it was. It nearly came to blows when the ah-ha moment arrived.

Some crane operators will pee out the cab of their crane--kind of have to watch where you're walking around those guys. I worked with one guy, funny as hell, but "in the old days" he would pee in a coffee can (where high production was required) and then flick it or toss it at guys he didn't care for--me and another coworker told him that if he ever did it to us we'd beat the crap out of him He liked us though, so we were safe.
