Not sure if I am posting this too late, but.... Sorry, it's gotta be butta when it comes to baking. I know people will say they have used margerine, and for cooking, I agree. But baking is a whole different science. You need to respect the ingredients and measurements called for. Not only is it a flavor issue, it's a matter of the proportion of water in your bread if you use the Crisco sticks as opposed to butter.

Yes, Crisco melts. It basically turns into vegetable oil. (But with a smoke point than butter, which is why it is what you fry chicken in)
So, nancy is right - if it is an ingredient in the dough, you're going to want to run to the store.
If it is basically a glue to hold a cinnamon topping onto your bread, you may be able to fudge it. But if there is a lot of it, you may notice the flavor change.

I agree. I had to go to the store for the butter last weekend in order to make chocolate chip cookies.

My mom always used the butter (the real thing, not margarine....just like everyone has been saying) when baking bread...makes for a much better texture too.
