He doesn't need one because Obama is a socialist Kenyan born Muslim antichrist who wants to destroy the US? Which will play great with "extremely conservative" and "born again" voters. Now he just needs to come up with something to sway the other 80% of them.

Sure, they both are humans with two eyes, a pancreas, etc. Just tell them the Muslim atheists are setting up a Moon base to attack Israel and they'll find a way, even if it does mean closing every school in the country. Why Newt's name isn't on the Virginia ballot: "Virginia Attorney General Confirms Investigation Of Newt Gingrich Ballot Petition" www.mediaite.com/online/virginia-attorney-general-confirms-investigation-of-newt-gingrich-ballot-petition/"About a month ago, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich told supporters that his failure to get on the Virginia Republican primary ballot was the result of what he called “fraud” by one of his campaign’s signature collectors, who turned in 1,500 bogus signatures. Now, progressive blogger and broadcaster Brad Friedman is reporting that the Virginia Attorney General’s office and the State board of Elections have confirmed that they are investigating the incident." But it's over a month ago, so according to Newtonian logic, that's ancient history (but somehow, Obama and Alinsky is still fair game). Also: "Newt Gingrich: The real ACORN scandal: Its enablers By: Newt Gingrich" washingtonexaminer.com/node/165741"What's more, Attorney General Eric Holder should follow the lead of at least 14 states and start a federal investigation of ACORN. If Democrats want the American people to believe they're serious about their denunciations of the group's behavior, they will support such an investigation." Sorry, since it was written in 2009, I can't declare it rank hypocrisy, due to it being so long, long ago. All is forgiven! Or maybe the ACORN scandal is only true because someone dressed as a pimp investigated it. I'm jealous of Republicans, they have the funnest rules.

Well, the problem now, is, money- distance between the next few states- time- No candidate can concentrate too much time in any one state. They have to do the shotgun approach now. Be everywhere, every day. Crisscrossing the country This favors the super pac candidates, or in this case Romney. it is not just money. it is organization. Newt is very badly organized. because of this, he won't show well on Super Tuesday. i suspect he will be out of the race in March.

Oh my gosh, part the seas. Pbp and I agree on something once again! ;D Regarding spending, it would be nice if the SCOTUS would review and overturn last year's decision. As it is, it is virtually insuring that the GOP "Establishment approved" candidate wins out over one that maybe the people would have preferred. people are no longer candidates. corporations are.

Obama's problem is that he has lost a lot of support with independents and a lot of African Americans. Winning support is hard enough. But when you lose a block of supporters it is impossable to get them back. Voters don't have a tendency to make what they consider the same mistake twice. They move on.

They move on. that might be true, but independents are a fickle bunch. if they don't identify with the opposition, they might either sit it out or vote for the guy they voted for last time. i think this is what happened in 2004.

Hopelessly fractured by petty internal infighting among its factions, the GOP just can't seem to come up with a candidate that can garner broad party support.

The billions upon billions spent by the SuperPACs disagree with you.
Presidential candidates are like any other product. The more they're advertised, the more they're "purchased".
I lost all faith in the US electorate during the Democratic primaries in 2000. At this point I suppose shuffling one more smiling face into the captain's seat on the Titanic can't hurt.

You can't buy votes.
Who ever thinks that is totally unfamilier with southern politics.

So, do you think that's basically it for the Republican primary and Romney is the guy, or does this thing still have legs? 46 States to go. 95% of the delegates are still up for grabs. I can only say that I think it is regrettable that Newt got dragged down by the Romney attack machine. I think if Newt is dragged down by Romney's attack ads, Obama's would bury him.

Was Newt ever a serious contender? Really? 3 divorces and all his racist comments? There is no way anyone seriously believed he could be your President. Rumor has it he's going to be appointed your next Prime Minister if he doesn't win here.

I think if Newt is dragged down by Romney's attack ads, Obama's would bury him. You're right- and it's starting to be a serious concern of mine. Is Newt capable of rising above this garbage and sticking to the ideas? Or, is Newt so self-conscious and so insecure that he can't help but become indignant and lash out? If he can stick to ideas- if he can champion a cause-- he has a shot. From the right wingers at CNN: It turns out [Newt] was right, and those that accused him of tax fraud were wrong.

We need to limit funding of campaigns. that is an EXTREMELY popular issue that NOBODY is really talking about. gee. i wonder why? I'd go the other direction. I'd abolish ALL limits on contributions to political campaigns, but require real-time disclosure on the internet of the individuals, organizations, corporations, etc. that donate.

Yeah like the cost of the 3 trillion space station that has never been tried yet
Remember our last "space race". A total waste of money UNLESS you count the industries that came out of it (like computers, etc). Yes it was probably a waste of money but we (as a country) did gain something from it. Much better than investing (if you want to call it that) in the green agenda where you flush tons of money down a rat hole to pay off your friends & backers.
(I'm on narcotics so the above may not make sense).

WWII
Space Race
Green Energy
All cost Billions of dollars but many many different discoveries and products came and will come from them.
Waste of money? Maybe, maybe not. You would have to research the benefits to society from each one.

Is the Space Race Over? When did it end?
Are there many nuclear warheads in orbit? What are the odds?
