This one person I occasionally hang out with just loves to doll me up. She says I have low self esteem.
Granted I am not happy with my looks and I am not a hottie. She even had me walk in a room. I have to add that she does this when she is drunk and I just let her get on with it.
She says she always sees me with my hair up. That's because I am just going to hang out your house darling....LOL
It does make me wonder if I am oozing low self esteem and don't know it ;D
BTW I am 39 and she is 49, maybe I should just chalk it up to her wanting to be the big sister type to me at that point.

Interesting. Are you aware of having low self esteem?
Or maybe you just can't be bothered spending loads of time applying make-up and shopping for the perfect clothes and accessories to ensure you always look your best even when just nipping round to a friends for a cosy night in?
She could well be projecting? Does she have any self confidence or body issues? Or maybe it's just her personality type that she thinks everyone should have the same interests and concerns as she does, so she is trying to convert you into becoming a more glamorous friend who she can then spend more time discussing fashion and make-up with?

Try an experiment. Next time go to her house with full makeup and dressed a tish better than usual and see what happens. If nothing happens, the next time go as your usual lay-about look. This will make for some good journal entries.

Shandi brings up some excellent points I shall ponder. She and her DH used to own a bar and DH and me would go there on Sat night and my hair was always down cos she said Fri night "your hair is always up" She was never there Sat. night. Actually now that I think about it she was there some Sat nights so I don't know WTE she is talking about. I very rarely wear make up, even as a teenager.

I think you should just dress in a way that makes you comfortable. But, i have found that it can be very fun to experiment a bit with new looks, makeup, jewelry, hair, and nails. I was never a girly girl and pretty much casual and an athletic tomboy. But, my 10 yr old daughter is very much into pretty jewelry, nails, shoes, and clothes. I never was but in order to have a bit of fun with her, i opened myself up to enjoying this type of stuff and now i really do. It can be lots of fun to just try some new things. So, if you feel like doing so, buy some things you usually wouldn't or try something new for fun.
