Hello From Duffminster. Markets sure have been challenging lately, gold and silver included. I plug along over at the Duffminster Times with the help of Old and Gray and few other lucid vetrans of Money Talk. I have link from there over to here and I hope I've driven some traffic this way. We are not as prolific in content creation but hopefully we have a few pearls to consider. These particular subjects are quite perplexing and I thought I'd bring my thinking on the subject over here and also I've missed the dialogue and occasionally the conflict of the old MSN community. With that out of the way, I'd like to get to the subject of this post. It appears that the expectations of the Santa Clause rally this year are being somewhat tempered by the Laurel and Hardy show in the EU lead by Merkel and Sarkozy. I know that most fund managers are under-performing the indexes and the indexes are under performing gold and they'd really like to see that Santa Clause rally here. Maybe the Laurel and Hardy show with the help of some major Fed/IMF/ECB/ECU or some other 3 letter acronym combined with spin from one of the 3 letter networks will help them achieve that goal. Personally, I think we might get a bounce but after December 21st, it looks like all bets are off. That said, given the confusion and dissent and seemingly "make it up as you go" showing of the Merkel and Sarkozy photo op and ECU foot in the mouth proposals, I have a fair degree of skepticism to put it lightly. Here is the piece I wrote over at Duffminster earlier and I'd love to know your thoughts: "Why Merkel and Sarkozy are kidding themselves" - CBS - "More talk of a magically bigger firewall" FT AlphavilleIf I don't get back here before then I just wanted to wish all of you a wonderful Holiday season (for those of you who believe, a Merry Christmas) and a healthy, happy and profitable new year! Duffminster

DUFF.. AS POSTED ON MY DUFFMINISTER BLOG:
THIS TIME THERE IS NO REDRESS TO FRANCE.. THEY ARE ON THE CREDIT WATCH WITH EVERY AAA IN THE EU.. THAT INCLUDES FINLAND.. WE SHOW FINLAND SHOULD BE EXEMPT AS THEY HAVE UNDER OUR SYSTEM A SCORE OF 1.1+ SO THEY ARE INDEED OVER THE 1.00+/- 0.025 FOR AAA...SO WHY NOW.. IT IS ABOUT ONE YEAR TOO LATE FOR FRANCE.. FRANCE AS OF NOW HAS A FUTURE RATING OF B+ ON OUR SYSTEM.
NOW FOR THE BANKS.. AGAIN ON CREDIT WATCH FROM S&P.. AGAIN ABOUT ONE YEAR TOO LATE TO BE OF ANY MEANING... LOOK AT DAXIA.. GREAT RATING UNTIL THEY WENT INTO INSOLVENCY LAST MONTH.. AGAIN THEY WERE THE RECEIPT OF THE LARGEST BAILOUT BY THE FEDERAL RESERVE.. BIGGER THEN BOA OR CITIBANK COMBINED..
BOTTOM LINE IS THE $$$$$ IS LEAVING THE EUROPEAN UNION TO THE USA...M3 HAS GROWN BY OVER ONE TRILLION DOLLARS THIS YEAR..MORE TO COME AND THAT SHOULD BE IN THE BOND AND STOCK MARKET BY 12/31/2011.
JUST A THOUGHT, BRUCE

Duffminster, Enjoy stopping in to read Duffminster Times as much as possible . My respects to you and all the others from the old msn boards. Some good people. In reply to your post , it is as laughable as it is plausible to think that any of the 5 key ideas outlined in the article will ever surface. Communism and Socialism are as dead as the presidents on our dollar bill. Printing more dollars and substituting euros is not the answer. Accepting personal responsibility and facing the massive debt seem to be as much of an illusion there as it is here. All I know is if I operated like some of these Banks and their Government's do, ours included, I would be bankrupt, dead or in jail. Merry Christmas

I think a lot of debris has been washed away by the rising tide of the market this year. A couple of debates have been settled for sure.
