Squirrel Nut Zippers - Hell In the afterlife You could be headed for the serious strife Now you make the scene all day But tomorrow there'll be Hell to pay People listen attentively I mean about future calamity I used to think the idea was obsolete Until I heard the old man stamping his feet. This is a place where eternally Fire is applied to the body Teeth are extruded and bones are ground Then baked into cakes which are passed around. Beauty, talent, fame, money, refinement Top skill and brain But all the things you try to hide Will be revealed on the other side. Now the D and the A and the M and the N and the A And the T and the I-O-N Lose your face, lose your name Then get fitted for a suit of flame

C r a c k e r-Eurotrash GirlWell I've been up to Paris, and I've slept in a park. Went down to Barcelona, someone broke in my car. And I'll search the world over for my angel in black. Yeah, I'll search the world over for a Euro-trash Girl. Took the train down to Athens, and I slept [live: sometimes "bathed"] in a fountain. Some Swiss junkie in Turin [Earlier versions "Zurich" instead of "Turin"] ripped me off for my cash. Yeah, I'll search the world over for my angel in black. Yeah, search the world over for a Eurotrash Girl. The CRS on the metro shook me down for a bribe. On my knees for the sergeant when my passport arrived. Yeah, I'll search the world over for my angel in black. Yeah, I'll search the world over for a Euro-trash Girl Euro-trash Girl, Euro-trash girl. Euro-trash Girl, Euro-trash girl. Called my mom from a payphone I said "I'm down to my last." She said "I sent you to college... now go call your dad." And the waitress that he married, well she hung up the phone. You know she never did like me, but I can stand on my own. Sold my plasma in Amsterdam. Spent it all in a night, buying drinks at the Melk Weg for a soldier in drag. And I'll search the world over for my angel in black. Yeah, I'll search the world over for a Eurotrash Girl Euro-trash Girl, Euro-trash girl. Euro-trash Girl, (I'm a) Euro-trash girl. Yeah, I'll search the world over for my angel in black. Yeah, I'll search the world over for a Eurotrash Girl (solo Johnny) ( < Alpha Notes - Best Gituar Solo Ever)Got a tattoo in Berlin (and a case of the crabs). A rose and a dagger on the palm of my hand. And I'll search the world over for my angel in black. Yeah, I'll search the world over for a Eurotrash Girl. Euro-trash Girl, Euro-trash girl. Euro-trash Girl, (I'm a) Euro-trash girl. Yeah, I'll search the world over for my angel in black. Yeah, I'll search the world over for a Eurotrash Girl.

Today's Theme is all things Japanese. Shonen Knife is a three Girl Japanese Band. They sing about rather mundane Interpretations of American Pop Culture Themes like Food, Barbies, Household Items, Haunted Houses. Their Music is even more adorable because their Engilsh isn't so good and the the Translation of Grammar from Japanese to English in the Lyrics gives their Music a Naive and Unique Charm (like Godzilla Movies). Like the Ramones their songs tend to be short (this one is a little over a munite or less) and intense. Shonen Knife Tortoise Brand Pot Scrubbing Cleaner's Theme Sea Turtle Another Excellent Version. 54 Second Punk Version in Japanese. Shonen Knife - Tortoise Brand (Pot Cleaner)Tortoise Brand Pot Cleaner Specially selected Pot Cleaner The best pot cleaner in the world is Specially selected Tortoise Brand Tortoise Brand Pot Cleaner Specially selected Pot Cleaner The best pot cleaner in the world is Specially selected Tortoise Brand

In Keeping with the Japanese Theme today, this song from 80's New Wave Band the Vapors (best known for their Underground Hit "Turning Japanese") is about our English Protagonist Factory Worker and his Japanese Pen Pal in 1938. He is struggling to understand the War Fever that was spreading prior to the outbreak of WWII. Japan invaded Manchuria and China in July 1937 and Attacked Pearl Harbor Dec. 7, 1941. Excellent Bass and Rythm in this song. The Vapors- Letter From HiroI think it was Thursday, I think it was late, 1930 - Eight. Got a letter from Hiro, but left out the date He said he was waiting for an outbreak. Took a look in the mirror, should have been me. But there was nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing to see. I draw apart the curtains, trying to look downstairs It was utterly futile, so I combed my hair -CHORUS- but all the kids in the factory say my letter from Hiro came too late communication, keeps me out of touch. the sense means nothing, well nothing much, like the sign on the door, too hard to see too soft to touch, the age of reason, is out to lunch. but all the kids in the factory say, my letter from Hiro, came too late too late, too late, too late 9 o'clock in the morning, sun rising in my head, and I'm not quite sure if I'm just insecure or if the problem is simply that we don't understand about the guns and the crossfire, and the social disease. and while the sun was rising somewhere in the east and then a "frag" meant more to Hiro than to me And all the kids in the factory say, my letter from Hiro came too late.

The last Selection for today is not exactly Japanese but has a definite Hawaiian Surfer Musical Influence (ala Dick Dale), so...Close Enough. Kim Deal, My #1 Fantasy Crush in the Entire Music World formed her own Band called "The Breeders" when the Pixies Broke up in the late '90's. She kept her trademark "I'm performing in whatever I rolled out of bed wearing w/ no hair or makeup" look. In the Breeders she gave up her Bass and switched to Rythm Gituar. Intrestingly her (evil) Identical Twin Sister Kelly Deal was recruited to play Lead Gituar. Kelly was a Heroin Addict and sadly the Band Broke up after only Two Fantastic Albums. Kim went on to form another Band called the Amps and has since gone on Reunion tours with the Pixies again. I am Crazy about all of her Music because it is so unique and she really understands the Role of Bass and Rythm in a Song. Coupled with her unpretentious Devil-May-Care Attitude, she is irresistable to me (Amplified by my Inordinate Fettish for Women Bass Players. Are you listening Jane Wiedlin?). (good sound) (live video but crappy sound) The Breeders -- No AlohaNo bye, no aloha Gone with a rock promoter A rock promoter I know, I saw And now may die O the treats Saw it on the wall Motherhood means mental freeze (Freezeheads) No aloha I know, I saw And now may die No bye, no aloha Gone with a rock promoter A rock promoter I know, I saw And now may die

I am amazed at how the japanese people are able to embrace others' cultures and their life styles. Here this girl has taken on the Lowrider persona with the dress and singing. This was posted on my facebook wall by a facebook friend who is japanese and restores old cars. I simply adore her!

You can really close your eyes and totally lose yourself in this song. The Sundays Lead Singer Harriet Wheeler's Feathery Light Voice is sheer Musical Nirviana. It doesn't hurt that she is the Second most Adorable Woman in Rock and Roll (next to Leigh Nash of Sixpence). Good Sound. Video but Crappy Sound. The Sundays - GoodbyeI vow that it's goodbye I vow that it's goodbye and God bless Why did we have to assume We're exactly the same? O no, talking about yourself I vow that it's goodbye to the old ways Those stories were a good read They were dumb as well I could never be seen Falling down on my knees crawling O no, talk about a sell, sell, sell O as the heavens shudder baby I belong to you O they said you get what you deserve And all they said was true So is this what it's come to? Am I cold or just a little bit warm? O well Just give me an easy life and a peaceful death

Robyn Hitchcock and the Egyptians - So You Think You're In LoveSo you think you're in love Yes, you probably are But you wanna be straight about it Oh, you wanna be straight about it now So you think you're in love Yes, you probably are But you wanna be straight about it Oh, you wanna be straight about it now Can you imagine what the people say, can you? But the silent majority Is the crime of the century, you know it Are you sure that it's wise? No, you probably ain't You don't wanna be faint about it Oh, you shouldn't be faint about it now By the look in your eyes No, you probably ain't But you shouldn't be faint about it Oh, you gonna be faint about it now What is love made of, nobody knows What are you afraid of, everyone knows It's love, it's love So you think you're in love Yes, you probably are But you wanna be straight about it Oh, you gotta be straight about it now So you think you're in love Yes, you probably are But you wanna be straight about it Oh, you gotta be straight about it now So you think you're in love, yeah

Tura Satana from the Campy Cult Classic Faster cat Kill! Kill!Sorry for the Cheesy Video but it had the best sound. Sequestered in Memphis - The Hold SteadyIt started when we were dancing It got heavy when we got to the bathroom We didn't go back to her place We went to some place where she cat-sits She said, "I know I look tired But every thing's fried here in Memphis" Now they want to know exactly which bathroom Dude, does it make any difference? It can't be important Yeah, sure I'll tell my story again In bar light she looked alright In daylight she looked desperate That's alright, I was desperate too I'm getting pretty sick of this interview Subpoenaed in Texas Sequestered in Memphis Subpoenaed in Texas Sequestered in Memphis I think she drove a new Mustang I guess it might be a rental I remember she had satellite radio I guess she seemed a bit nervous, do you think I'm that stupid? C r a c k e r - Movie Star Well the movie star, well she crashed her car. But everyone said she was beautiful even without her head. Everyone said she was dangerous. Well the chief of police kept the crime off the streets. But deep in his heart, we all knew he felt differently. We all knew he was an anarchist. Chorus: Well I - I'd like to devour you But you - You'd prob'ly devour me. For your golden wheat, for your oat bran head. Deep in my heart Girl you're a beautiful animal I'll put a tag on your ear. Well the movie star, well she crashed her car. But everyone said she was beautiful even without her head. Everyone said she was dangerous. Well the chief of police kept the crime off the streets. But deep in his heart we all knew he felt differently. We all knew he was an anarchist. Well I - I'd like to devour you But you - You'd prob'ly devour me. Repeat Girl you're a beautiful animal. (8 times)
