Well, it was a long wait, but at least DS was having a good day, and was patient. It helped that he knew ahead of time he didn't have to worry about any needles. I'm beginning to learn what a PITA it's going to be once DS ages out of DH's insurance. After all of my work to get DS set up with good specialists, I found out NONE of them accept Medicaid, and it's apparently not legal to offer to pay cash for an appointment. This could get ugly. I mean, how do these people find doctors? (I tried to check on the internet. Not working. Not even the government site was helpful.) That sucks! Have you considered asking current doctors if they can recommend dr who takes Medicade? Long shot at best but all I could come up with. They are losing patient anyway if you can’t even pay cash for treatment.

Well, DS had another appointment today. This one we spent longer in the waiting room, and then waiting for the doctor, than yesterday. I did explain that in the not-too-distant future that DS was going to be too old to be on DH's policy, and even this doctor, who has apparently been a fixture in the community for awhile, had no recommendations. He did write himself a note, and I did tell him I don't mind doing a lot of driving (I suggested a community about an hour & 1/2 from here) to get DS to a doctor. Maybe next week I'll call & find out if he's found anyone. It's frankly a bit scary, after talking to 3 different doctor's offices on the phone, that NO ONE knows who provides services under Medicaid, or will even venture a guess. I'm know my kid isn't the first, and surely won't be the last. Are people "down South" really that dense, or is it a matter of "I don't give a darn"?

busymom have you called the office that administers the state Medicaid plan to see what they recommend for doctors. I realize that Oregon is a lot different that most states with regards to Medicaid but we have different insurance plans that cover different areas, roughly by county. The company I work for administers the Medicaid plan for a 3 county area. Not only do they help find doctors, they will coordinate appointments across the various providers, arrange rides if need be and a new thing they are getting ready to start is to send home a weeks worth of healthy meals after a hospitalization, if needed.

Is it the weekend yet? My stomach was really upset last night and is still rumbly this morning. Guess I better go find some breakfast and hit the road to work.

Hi Kids! It's been a busy day. I didn't even stop in the coffee shop this morning. Mostly the same old, same old.

Good Morning Kids! Finally, we're done with the last doctor appointment of the week. And as I mentioned earlier, none of the docs accept Medicaid, BUT, this last specialist might be switching to a group that accepts Medicaid, so stay tuned... I haven't stopped at the liquor store in a long time, but this week has been something else, so I may have to rethink it.

Sorry but I got the impression no one at the present doctors office knew of any Medicaid doctors. Maybe I missed an update about having problems finding Medicaid doctors. If so, never mind, my bad.

No, you are correct. Not ONE doctor recommended any other doctor, nor clinic. I'm going to be doing some scrambling in the next several weeks to see what I can find out. I think I'll start with the local university. At least back home, doctors who served at the university hospital generally helped everyone. But then, we've already noticed a lot of differences in our new home state, so who knows?

Busy, maybe call Medicaid? They might be able to provide some names or tell you if a certain doctor accepts.

I will say up front that I didn't go thru this site but it popped up when I did a google search. It seems to list by city in FL midway thru the site. May or may not help at all. And you have probably already run across it, if so NEVER MIND
www.doctor.com/FL/Medicaid-Florida
ETA: and I am sure you are looking for specialist so it may be a total waste of reading time.

Thanks for the website, NoNamePerson. I haven't received the card for DS yet, so I don't know which type of Medicaid program he'll be on (there's more than one here), but the website doesn't have a category for basic Medicaid, so I'll have to wait for the card. If it isn't one thing, it's a thousand...

I found my trouble stirring stick again at work. It got lost at the end of the big project. I was so tired and stressed I haven't been digging down into the trenches trying to ferret out potential issues and problems. Today I was starting to feel more like myself and really dug into the next project I will be working on. It actually is picking up the project I was on before the big project came along and bumped everyone off their current projects.

Good Morning Kids! So thankful it's Friday! I need to take a break from the drama, & catch up on basic housework. Otherwise, stuff tends to pile up around here.

Hoping for a quiet weekend. I am getting a new chair at work and am actually quite excited. Who knew that a new chair could be so good. It will even have arms. You have to ask to get arms because they feels that people slouch to one side leaning on the arms and therefore aren't using proper posture. We have a person whose job is to help with work environment issues so reduce on the job injuries.

I slept 10 1/2 hours last night and feel so much better. This mornings breakfast was some cold leftover pizza from last night. Time to get started on my weekend chores.

Hiya peeps! We go back into town Sunday and I have been catching up since. It's been a difficult and sad two weeks, in some respects, good in other respects. The trip was good for DH, but stressful for me. When you have to do it all and plan it all it's not fun to be on vacation. But he enjoyed it, so it was worth it. A dear friend of mine has been diagnosed with cancer again. He went through chemo before, went into remission and it is back. He and his wife had to sell their home and are moving to the northern part of the state, where their sons live and cancer treatment options are better. I had no opportunity to see them before they left; his treatments have been exhausting. I hate that I did not get a goodby, but I totally understand. His health and her stress levels have to come first. I only hope their sons and DILs are as helpful as they should be at a time like this.
Work has been awful. I like my work but hate my job, if that makes any sense. The people there are why, ungrateful brats who show up whenever and think vacation is their right after being on the job three or four months (!). I waited 22 months before I took a week - long vacation. I hate being the only one who can work all the case file types and handle the worst clients -- there's no backup and no relief. I am seeing a retirement specialist at my credit union on Monday. If the numbers work, I am looking at a target date of 5-1-2020. I plan to keep working, but part time, doing what I want instead of what I hate.

Mornin Muffins!
Nancy, what made my retirement numbers work, was NOT working. Not paying for gas, clothes, etc really brought the budget in line. Good luck.

Row, row, row your boat. Maybe I will help that guy Noah, up the street, to finish his boat. Enough with the rain already.

Hello peeps! Had a race this morning, then came home and found out a nice neighbor passed away; 83 years old, lived alone, no family or close friends. He had been sick for awhile and the police found him, peacefully gone, watching TV. He had made his final arrangements with his attorney, but that still sucks, to have no one to say goodbye to when the end comes. I never ever want to be that kind of person. Got my numbers together for the retirement meeting tomorrow, except my state pension, because the website did not like me today. So I will have to call tomorrow and get myself reset and at least get the monthly figure. That is all I need at this point. My bad for missing brunch, so I brought snacks.

Yup, it's been acting like a Monday. DS has to go back to the dentist, but at least he handled today's visit well. Afterwards we went to Wally World, and noticed a car parked in front of, and blocking a cart corral. Welcome to Flor-I-Duh!

Does anyone know if Wyouser is ok or not? Really miss his musings and hoping his absence is not due to an illness.
