Mornin Muffins! Another dreary day. Hopefully, it won't be too wet. Gotta go hit the Drivers' License center for my real ID.

Good Morning Kids! We got up early so we could walk on the beach before it got too hot for DS. We actually made a major find today--someone had left an expensive cell phone in the sand. The police patrolling the beach came by just as we found it, so we handed it off to them. Hopefully it'll find it's original owner.
It'll be another hot one today, but now the weathernerds are saying the rain will arrive Thursday instead of Friday. So, I may need to rethink when I do my errands. We'll wait & see what the weather has in store for us.

I ended up taking today off also in addition to Thursday and Friday and I didn't tell Mom. This is my day of rest I have been so tired. I think the last year with changing jobs, learning a new job, the commute etc finally caught up with me. Last night I slept 12 hours and feel better this morning. Mom and I leave tomorrow morning and Mom is already fussing on that. I told her we would leave around 9am and she keeps making snarky comments about leaving in the middle of the day. << big sigh >>. It is two a little over two hour drive, we can't check into the cabin until 2pm. Yes we always go into the town and do some shopping and have lunch but the stores in town all open at 10am. It won't kill us to be there an hour after the stores open, besides two of our favorite stores have closed. I know on Sunday she will employ every delaying tactic she knows so that we don't check out until 10:59.59, yes 59 minutes and 59 seconds before the 11am checkout time.

Your mom sounds like my mom and her sisters.
At our family reunion, the shelter reservation started at 10 AM. You probably wouldn't be the first one there if you arrived at 8 AM. As soon as we ate, those three were ready to get to air conditioning, so they would all go to my parents' house.
The three of them and some of their families would be there about an hour and 45 minutes before others arrived.

This is more of something that Mom looks so forward to and then combine that with her need to be in complete control of everything, it is hard to deal with her. She has come up with what is her ideal trip and this is pretty much set in stone. We always eat at the same restaurant in town, she will have a club house sandwich of which she will take half home for later. She would prefer that I also have a club house sandwich and will fuss that I don't but a chef salad, hamburger, or hot turkey sandwich is deemed an acceptable alternative. We will be gone three nights so breakfast the first day will be french toast, second morning pancakes, and the third morning toast and fried eggs. She will have a different breakfast meat each morning. She likes a big breakfast while "camping". Doesn't matter if anyone else would like something different that is not in her plan so it won't happen. Dinner the first night is usually snacky stuff or a hot dog since we had a big lunch. One night will be lasagna with french bread and the other night will be hamburgers on the BBQ. She will bring hot dogs and stuff for smores in hopes that I will build a campfire. The menu basically doesn't change, where we eat lunch doesn't change, which stores we visit in town is always the same. We have a script which must be followed. I also know that it probably won't be too much longer and she just won't be able to go so I know what's coming and you just put up with it.

Good Morning Kids! Well, the weatherman lied again. We were expecting to get up to rain, but so far, nothing. If I had known the rain was holding off, I would've tried to get in another walk with DS. Oh well. Tomorrow is another day (although it could be a wet one).
DS is being his normal, active self this morning. I may need to take him to one of the malls, or the big Wally World, to help him burn off some of that energy.

Sharon, just a caution about your mom. At some point you will have to become the parent. Start setting the stage now.

Mornin Muffins! We are supposed to get rain too!
Ners, sounds like allergies. Aprodine is a generic version of Actifed. It helps dry you out. You have to ask for it and sign for it at the pharmacy, but it does help.

I know it is allergies gone wild. I take Advil Cold & Sinus (also have to sign for) and Claritin. The Mucinex I added yesterday seems to be helping. I am also trying to drink more tea. This too will pass.

Good Morning Kids! Happy Friday! If you have grass allergies, the pollen count here is very high. We're supposed to get thunderstorms this afternoon, so I'd better get my errands done this morning. Sharon, I'm sorry for what you're dealing with, with your Mom. One of my old school friends used to describe her Mom as a "Queen Bee", insisting on doing everything her way, in her time frame. Unfortunately, when her Mom's health issues pushed her into a nursing home, she ended up with a group of Queen Bees, and there was plenty of drama at the home. Does that sound familiar?

Hello my freaky Friday peeps. Sharon, I hope you survive your trip. Mom sounds like a trip all by herself. Busy, I hope your son is doing OK. Heavy rain here the last few hours; glad I got the lawn mowed Tuesday. Chores and freelance tomorrow, as I will be doing an ocean swim in Miami Sunday. I got a lot done tonight: swept the floors, the dishwasher is running and a load of laundry is in the dryer. I will run in the morning and vacuum the rugs. Need to run out to gas up and get my prescriptions. Food will be light tomorrow, likely just salads with protein on top. I think DH will have fish (we had chicken tonight) with mac and cheese and a small portion of my salad.

Good Morning Kids! After getting a lot of rain yesterday, the sun is back.
I needed to get some alterations done on some curtains I'd bought for my kitchen, but they weren't quite finished with them yesterday. Hoping to pick them up today.

Wow! We got socked hard with a rainstorm that began just as church was ending. It was complete with loud thunder and lightening. We sort of hung around the church until it settled down a bit.

Hello my Sunday peeps! Speaking of rain, we are getting hit hard right now. I got back home about 1:30, did laundry right away and had a snack (nothing worse that laundry that smells like the salt water and grime of the bay. ). Fortunately, I prepped the meatloaf mix last night and it is in the oven now. I will start the Parmesan potatoes when the meatloaf comes out; they take about 30 minutes (it's a recipe from Cook's Country; sliced twice-baked Yukon Golds, dusted with cheese, with a sour cream and chive and rosemary dip on the side). The swim was great, my best time in the eight years I've done this. I finished fourth in my age group (only first place in each age group gets a trophy, because there are four races, and we would be there all day if they gave awards three deep).

I'm Baaaack!!!!!!!! Survived the trip with Mom. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, it couldn't have been better. Yesterday we took a walk in the morning. Mom used to be able to do the whole 2 mile loop. It is 1 mile from the store up to the bridge on the trail, then cross the bridge and a mile back to the store on the other side other river. It took her longer to do less than half of that loop then it used to take to do the entire thing. When she could do the entire loop it still took her about twice as long as it takes me. We stopped a lot and looked at the river and when we reached the campground, which isn't quite halfway to the bridge there was an open spot with a picnic table so we rested there quite a while before heading back. These weekend trips are a good gauge of just how bad Mom is getting. She still refuses to admit that her hands are getting tremors. Instead it would be 'It is so cold in here I'm shivering". I had already pretty much figured it takes her 3-4 hours in the morning to get up, have breakfast and get dressed but got confirmation of that. I absolutely can't get her to agree to go to an orthopedic doctor about her back. She would have so much more mobility if she could get some help there. She claims her regular MD told her that her back was full of arthritis and that there wasn't anything that could be done. The chiropractor asked me one time if Mom had ever had the hip replacement done that he thought she needed. I suspect the Chiro is telling me more of the truth than Mom and she doesn't want to even think about hip replacement. Other than that the trip went according to plan except we only had two breakfast meats. The first day we had our french toast with bacon and the second day was pancakes with links etc.

I love watching Cooks Country even though I am dangerous in the kitchen. But I have done this very recipe and it turned out really good.

It was good, though I should have sliced the potatoes a little thicker. But with the cheese and the sour cream and the bit of gravy from the meatloaf, it made a sort of very refined poutine.
