Also attended Parochial Grammar School. Don't recall not being able to sing Away In A Manger, but looking back on those days as an adult now, it is amazing AND disgusting the long list of subjects that the nuns and priests tried and sometimes succeeded in brainwashing us kids with.

Catholic grammar school for me would have been seconf half of the 1950s to mid-1960s. In second grade, I and others in my class made our first communion. But before we could do that, we had to make our first confession. Fine: I confessed I stuck my tongue out at my mother when her back was turned and other criminal, youthful sins. As a school, we attended Friday morning mass every school week. But we had to go to confession first so we could all receive holy communion. One time I told my teacher I didn't have to go to confession because I didn't do anything sinful the past week. The nun told me to make something up and confess it. Right then and there I knew religion was not for me. You've Lost That Loving Feeling - The Righteous Brothers

So no lates there too.
