I'm like most others. I buy clothes at Catos or Kohls on sale, with t-shirts, undies, bras coming from somewhere cheap like Walmart or Target. I'm not hard on my dress clothes, so they don't have to cost alot and will last a long time. Nights and weekends find me in sweats and t's, or if I have to go somewhere in jeans. I usually buy quality shoes because I have a bad foot and have to be very careful about heel height, etc. I get my hair cut wherever is inexpensive, but they do a decent job. I color my own hair now, so cost is about $10 every 6 weeks. I do my own mani/pedi's in the summer, but don't usually bother with nail polish unless I'm going somewhere. Way too hard on the nails. I do all my own yard work, and I'm a huge fan of DIYing, so am always up to my elbows in something. Everyone laughs at me at work, they can usually tell when I'm up to something because I hate to wear gloves and will have it all over my hands, arms and feet . I review, shop around, etc. to find the best deal on something, so have decorated my house very efficiently. It cracks me up to have my kids friends tell me they love my house! When the neighbor down the road encountered my daughter one day, he said he recognized her because she'd seen her at our house, and oh by the way, he loves our house and yard . I'd rather spend money on my house piddling than go shopping any day. My favorite stores are Lowes and Home Depot, not any clothing stores or mall shops. My makeup comes from the drug store. Luckily I don't work around people who dress over the top for work, so my clothes are nice, and they fit in with everyone else.

I may look frugal because I'm all about comfort and I am blessed to be able to dress very casually at work. That may be changing but until it does I will continue to wear pressed jeans and tees and casual tops. There is a local sporting goods store that I can get long sleeved tees for $8 each, short sleeve for $6 when not on sale so I usually stock up in different colors. A couple of classic jackets/blazers from a prior job make them look a bit more polished. I get jeans from Wally World or Target for about $20 if not on sale. Off work clothes are even more casual. I just don't follow fashion any more. I buy what looks good and fits comfortably. I have enough dressier clothes from the prior job for any dressier occasion. I do spend whatever it takes on both shoes and bras. I need uncommon sizes for both so I'm happy to spend what's needed for fit and comfort. But I will definitely buy if I find either on sale! I spend a bit more on my makeup. I only wear it to work and special occasion but it is well worth it for me. I'm one of those MK women that really thinks it is the best. Most people have no idea how old I am - they think I'm 10 years younger than I am. Or they lie really well! Hair is just a cut every 6-8 weeks. I don't color it and the gray is beginning to show but I really don't want the chemicals. If that makes people guess my real age then so be it. I've worked hard for these years!

i think it depends on the day. some days I'm dressed fabulously, my hair is rocking it and my makeup stays put. other days, i grab something more casual and pull my hair back and my makeup mysteriously disappears. i do have a combo of quality pieces and things from places like target and old navy. I've gained a few pounds over the holidays which is limiting my wardrobe choices... but that's a whole OTHER subject!

I try to dress nice and appropriate for work but I don't spend lots on my clothes. Most of my clothes are purchased from Kohls, jcpenny, or Marshalls or from Chadwicks onlne, and almost always on clearance. I like more traditional styles and I haven't bought many clothes for the last 2 years or so I do spend money on getting my hair highlighted and cut. I don't know if I look frugal, but I'm not carrying the ubiquitous Coach purse which every female under 40 in my office seems to feel the need to own. Not the really good leather ones which announce good quality and quiet money, but the cloth ones with Coach emblazoned all over them. I could really identify with the comment about thread bare towels...My towels don't match, but they are all coordinated with my shower curtain and none are thread bare. I don't think dressing like you don't have a penny to your name makes you look frugal, just either poor or cheap. There was a time in my life when I had very little and nice looking clothes are something I want/value. But I really don't care much about name brands just things I like.

I was "A little bit of knowledge" on the last board but reverted to my original "spice". I work in my garden most mornings and wear shoes that are definitely on their last legs. Then I walk to the store in them before I make my way back up to my 2nd fl condo. I keep hoping someone at the store will offer to buy me a new pair of shoes but so far, no such luck!

I don't think I do at work, maybe a bit because I've let my hair get crappy again and I don't wear makeup to cover the terrible state of my skin (onset by work related stress.) My work wardrobe, I hope looks nice enough, but I definitely cycle through them often. I wear the same outfits/pieces multiple times in a month. If you see me about during the weekends, I look 80% of the time like a total bum (old tshirt, jeans, velour hot pink tracksuit top). If you were my close friend, you'd know immediately or saw my home, you'd categorize me as uber frugal right away. (old but nice hand me down furniture from my parents, haven't been replaced since college, live like a college student come to think of it, 10+ year old car, etc etc)

I shop in TJ MAXX and Marshalls. I find lots of brand names that I wouldn't even consider buying at the mall. I'm not a mall shopper. My mom thinks I should spend more on myself but I perfer my way and my bank account reflects it. Most days I wear minimal makeup but I don't spend alot of money on it. One of my luxuries I will never give up is getting a color and cut every 6 weeks or so. I will always be a natural blond even in the nursing home. I am only 50 , so hopefully have a few cute years left.

Oh just to add.....a few years ago my mom bought my son one of those jersey zipped shirts in Macys for his Birthday and I just happen to pick out the same jersey in another color. She paid $74.00 and I paid $19.99 in Marshalls. She was so surprised and somewhat annoyed.

Marshalls is the store that has designer stuff cheaper? I think we call it winners here. I have gotten things there I really like but I have learned to be careful. Many of the items are seconds and when you look carefully you can see mistakes in the construction of the item.

As a business owner, I wear professional attire when I meet with clients. I do my best to purchase "classic" clothing and accessories that won't go out of style and I almost always buy everything on sale. I also try to find clothing that I can dress up or down depending on the occassion. I would say that overall I do not look frugal, but little do people know that I am!

I think I'm pretty frugal. But many people have commented that I look "high maintenance". I do most things myself and keep myself well groomed. My car is in mint condition, but is very old with low mileage. I keep my home very neat and clean and it's beautiful (to my taste, anyway.) That's hard to answer because we are also financially stable and in good shape. ETA: My kitties, however, are spoiled rotten!

I don't look frugal, I just look like a don't care what anyone thinks! I clean up nicely in inexpensive garb when need be. If someone doesn't like the way I dress, they should look away. hehe
