Well first, show me where in the Constitution he's required to do so. Silly me for thinking he's just required to accept or veto things and it's up to Congress to make the bills.
And second, why bother? That's what you get for saying NO! to everything. Oh, and conservatives would whine about that too. They'd whine whether he had a plan or not. The damned if you do routine got old years ago.
Sorry, if Boehner stopped worrying about jobs! jobs! jobs! in January, shouldn't you? Oh, and I guess you weren't listening about Congress not being in session. Or would you rather he act like a dictator?
And who needs jarhead1976, et al. when a spambot could give the same empty catchphrase? I bet Rush or Beck could sell you some.
So you admit the Speaker of House is doing a terrible job of leading? Conservative motto number #23 "we want to lead, but we don't want to take any responsibility."
One-sided partisian crybaby whining is a possibility. Or maybe impossible expectations like solving the jobs crisis when Congress is out of session. Or maybe hypocrisy; where's that "Breaking News: Boehner is on vacation again!" thread? Oh, and Boehner plays golf too!

Obama: Political gridlock damaging U.S. 4:14 pm ET 08/11/2011 - MarketWatch Databased News WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- President Barack Obama flew to Michigan Thursday to say he's frustrated with political gridlock in Washington that Obama says is causing the U.S. to slip behind its competitors. "What we have seen in Washington in the last few months has been ... the worst kind of gridlock ... that has undermined public confidence and impeded our efforts to take the steps we need for our economy. It has made things worse instead of better," said Obama, the Illinois Democrat who's running for a second term as president the 2012 elections.
"There is nothing wrong with our country. There is something wrong with our politics," he said.
He called on Congress to extend the payroll tax cut, approve free trade agreements, and pass a highway construction bill.
The president said he will put out more proposals "week-by-week" to help create jobs.
Obama chose a Johnson Controls plant in Western Michigan to highlight his position that Congress must not halt spending altogether in its effort to balance the budget.
Instead lawmakers should continue to make strategic "investments" in research and technology to create jobs despite the tough fiscal environment, he said.
The Johnson Controls plant makes advanced batteries for hybrid and electric autos. The company received $300 million in federal stimulus funding in 2009 to help build the plant and has since hired about 150 people to work on the batteries.
Michigan is a key state for Obama's reelection bid. Obama carried the state in 2008.
Economists said that Michigan's economy has been improving over the past two years but has a long way to go.
Adolfo Laurenti, deputy chief economist at Mesirow Financial in Chicago, said the Midwest economy is struggling to create jobs and a large segment of the workforce does not have the skills for the high-tech manufacturing.
"This is not our grandfather's manufacturing sector with an assembly-line like a Charlie Chaplin movie, Laurenti said.
In today's manufacturing plants, workers sit behind computers to make sure the computer and the machines are carrying out the work, he noted.
The state's economy was in a continual recession over the past decade and Michigan also has lost population.
Michigan's improvement is due to the rebound in manufacturing in the past two years. The state has tried to diversify away from manufacturing without much success, said Sophia Koropeckyj, an economist at Moody's Analytics.
Obama will fly this evening to attend two fund-raisers in New York City.
Asked whether the president felt awkward raising cash while the economic outlook has deteriorated, White House spokesman Jay Carney replied: "Americans understand that our political system functions the way it does and that candidates have to raise money. I certainly expect that members of Congress are doing the same thing as well as presidential candidates."

Who needs a monetary policy when you can play some golf. Its an empty office even when he's there. Golfing on Martha's Vineyard is not a bad gig instead of working on the country's debt crisis... Maybe Obama's caddy will take text messages for him. So he can multitask, play golf and play president of the United States......

there is this thing called the executive branch. it has a different function than the legislative branch. i keep hearing this complaint over and over again, but it is not the president's job to draft legislation, i don't believe. Right, not asking him to draft, but he clearly was not working with Congress. All he wanted was to raise the debt ceiling, period. In his speech the other night, as soon as he brought up raising taxes the Dow plummeted 200 points from 400. Better he doesn't make any more speeches anyway as he's definately out of the loop and over his head. If he really "wanted" to raise the debt ceiling, he probably could have done so under the 14th Amendment, and then let the chips fall where they may. He opted to let Senate and the House duke it out.

The fact that President Obama took another vacation doesn't bother me much, to be honest (mkitty please be sitting when you read this). What bothers me is that mkitty doesn't understand that there is a difference between what the President of the U.S. does (or doesn't do) & any other politician.
Also it bothers me that President Obama doesn't understand that it wasn't politically advisable to take a vacation at this point in time. Why didn't he realize that & did those around him not point it out or did they not know the political ramifications? (Like someone comparing him to Nero who fiddled while Rome burned). Didn't they teach him in politics 101 that you have to appear concerned if you captain of a ship & it hits an iceberg? From what I've seen President Obama didn't take that class (or of course a math class, the way he spends money).
I as a conservative would have advised him to take a vacation at this time. The only real reason that I can think of that he would have would be that he knows he's a 1 term President & wants to get all the goodies he can while he can.

>>>Sorry, if Boehner stopped worrying about jobs! jobs! jobs! in January, shouldn't you? Oh, and I guess you weren't listening about Congress not being in session. Or would you rather he act like a dictator?<<< Is David Cameron a dictator because he called Parliament back from their vacation? Your comments are lame. We have a dictator as he wants to run the country of Big Government and does what he dam well pleases, as ramming his health care down our throats and not listening to the people or the medical profession, and not considering the cost over the next 10 years. Remember "for the people, by the people" All I remember is "spread the wealth".

oldtex: Exactly, if you read back I had mentioned that already and it was in his own words. The chips don't fall anymore in his favor, he knows he's history and I think he will be relieved as he won't have to read so many empty speeches with his heart not in it. I think the Obama family had a slice of the good life for 4 years.

I thought he was in Michigan today? He has to go to one of the most expensive places in the States. I reckon it will cost the taxpayers close to $100, 000 for 9 days there. Maybe more, at $50,000 a week just for lodging.

I remember when a moderator would tell people if they had nothing to add, not to bother with the one liners....... Of course these people were from the other side of the pew.

Maybe he'll go to his imaginary house in Sweden. Any proof of that, diamonds? I've asked you already, but you seem hell-bent on ignoring my question.

I will now try to stay on topic, per your observation.

diamonds has said that Obama bought a house in Sweden..... hence weltz's question about it...it sounds a lot like the typical "throw random crap at the wall and see what sticks & if anyone will run with it".....

Ir was reported while he was in Sweden he purchased a house. I cannot prove it, nor can you prove he did not. I see "frick" can't go anywhere without "frack" ;D.

Hey, did you hear? Rick Perry bought a 17 million dollar house in the south of France. He doesn't want to drink recycled sewer water like his fellow citizens in Texas. I cannot prove it, nor can you prove he did not.
See how that works?
