Fund NPR. The only ones wanting defunding are the major media owners - the major media owners already have a strangle hold on where most people get their info. They already have their hands in our pockets through laws being repealed that prevented media concentration. The airwaves are owned by the public - why do you think so many free-market zealots (conservatives/republicans) want to destroy and privatize the airwaves. Remember when high def TV came out - we gave away a two for one liscence agreement for these conglomerates and waited years before true high def came on line - meanwhile channels increased with that give away. Most still do not broadcast high def but still send interleaved broadcast that is compiled on your set - Half of what you should recieve. FUND NPR, PBS etc. or face the clearly sensationalizm we are fed today. Are 4th estate has been under attack for years and yet, we stay content with the crap that passes for news these days - Thats where private news tales us - cost cut and a dumbing down of information. Look how many people think the military option is the way to keep our country great when - in reality an informed citizenry is our only hope in defending this republic.

I wasn't referring to liberals in general, just to the ones who seem to demean anyone not in their group. Anyone who simply groups Beck with "most of the radical right" either hasn't paid much attention to Beck or I'm not sure what they mean by the "radical right." I suspect that a lot of people who consider themselves liberal as well as a lot of libertarians agree with a lot of Beck's positions ~ or at least consider them interesting. ,,,, Most of the people that condemn Glenn Beck are the ones that never really watched his shows. Nothing like having an open mind, although that creeps some liberals out.

Look how many people think the military option is the way to keep our country great when - in reality an informed citizenry is our only hope in defending this republic. I don't think so. NPR is unable to control it's liberal bias, and as such, should not be receiving federal funding. See the article and video below, and keep in mind this NPR exec thought he was talking to two Muslim men who wanted to donate $5 million, the source of which they did not wish to reveal; communities.washingtontimes.com/neighborhood/bill-kellys-truth-squad/2011/mar/9/conservative-video-stings-npr-ceo-schiller/Recorded on hidden camera, Schiller revealed his unabashed journalistic bias:
"The current Republican Party, particularly the Tea Party, is fanatically involved with people's personal lives," said Schiller in the video.
He described the movement as "white, middle America, gun-toting.""They're seriously racist people." Schiller also discussed the "anti-intellectual" component of the Republican Party.
"Liberals today might be more educated, fair and balanced than conservatives," said Schiller.
For decades, left-leaning journalists have hid behind a façade of objectivity. However, conservative complaint about mainstream media bias is now documentable. In this new age of internet media democracy, where the cameras are turned on the reporters themselves, the continuing pretense makes the media maintream a laughing stock. There is no objectivity. There is no balance. There is no journalism.
The idiom bears repeating: Those NPR journalists who live in biased glass houses, shouldn’t throw stones at Fox News.
And they definitely shouldn’t be publicly funded.

This doesn't prove that NPR is liberally biased. It only proves that one particular person MIGHT be liberally biased (or blowing smoke up the backsides of the Muslim men to secure their donation). And even then, it only proves his personal bias when out of the public eye, not necessarily the overall bias of the entire network.

Give me a break. Every single person employed by the network would need to show a bias to convince you? Ridiculous...

So ed1066, in starting this post you admitted that Glenn Beck is biased and, therefore we Liberals are happy and excited. I am a liberal (whatever that means in your head) and, it is sad to see such a person who represents your 'side' leave. So just because one perspective that stones should not be thrown at Fox news means you are incapable of accepting a diversity of opinion. Where should we draw the line of public vs. private opinion/news. You imply that diversity of opinion should be eliminated in a public forum - that NPR journalists should banned or that no public forums should be allowed. Do we throw information and substantial news under the bus because it does not get the ratings it should. Shall we make our news a popularity race and toss out substance - forget fact checking for ratings. When news fell in line with Bush's war in Iraq - beating the biased drum - failed to fact check - - when the facts or lack of facts regarding yellow cake were available to the news media - prior to the outing of Plame - prior to our United Nations show - should we have called NPR biased. - Mainstream media, according to you, has a liberal bias - that seams rather a convienient fairy tale - considering how consolidated the media has become and, into so few hands, those few hands that represent the largest, richest and most conservative entities on the planet. The reason I am not glad Beck is gone is because he always showed your point of view and thinking.

Watching the final Beck show. He opened with "I stand with Israel." God bless Beck, a fearless American.

If that made any sense, it'd be scary. It's kinda scary anyway.
