-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We've received a record number of complaints and report about this thread, and things aren't improving. So the thread is being locked.

I am curious. What was the total number of complaints, and number of "reports"?
Could we have a break out of Conservative numbers versus Liberal numbers on those two issues? Enquiring minds want to know!

Due to National Geographic Magazine, I now believe rudimentary religion was achieved before "permanent village status" was achieved. Any comments?

No, you may not. Reports to mods are kept in strict confidence. All I will say is there was plenty of offenses and reporting from both sides.

Reports to mods are kept in strict confidence. Good to see that's the new policy. Some of them used to taunt us openly on the board for using that feature, thus many of us stopped using it...I'm glad the adults are back in charge now...

I had my post changed by a MOD & an email about 2 weeks ago. I thought that they were very nice about it. I would have suspended me had I had the same take on my comment that the MOD did. (One reason I would hate to be a MOD. How stupid would you look if you had to suspend yourself).
But to comment on your comment: I didn't feel violated.

I was not pleased having my thread closed through no fault of my own. I thought the mods should have hammered the offenders and left the thread intact.

I was not pleased having my thread closed through no fault of my own. I thought the mods should have hammered the offenders and left the thread intact. Agreed. Commentator went for a match against a mod, so a mod brings in several different mods, to check the claim of "poor mod activity", and to monitor the situation. And I must say, I had to agree. the Mods were not doing anything wrong, other than winding up not reprimanding the person responsible.

What am I missing that you are spending so much time starting a thread about something so trivial or unimportant?? Do you see youself as someone who is supposed to second guess the mods calls or decisions???

Valuebuy, you don't know whether another poster is reprimanded, or not, in all cases. Some discussions take place through PMs rather than on the open boards. Posters will not know of those, so it's easy to assume a poster hasn't been reprimanded for something you found offensive. That just might not be the case.

I personally was glad to see another one of Lakhota's threads about religion closed..it really served no purpose but to stirr up a lot religious vs non religious outrageous comments that serve no purpose here..and to replay it again is ridiculous since many of the posts were bizarre and troubling IMHO

I felt the thread was shutdown due to posters who do not know when to let it go. The thread should stay, the poster(s) involved, should get the time out, if warranted. I do not think I mentioned whether personal pm's or public reprimands were part of the answer, or part of the problem, or whether they were used or not used. As an example, no mod said publicly, "I am bringing another mod in to look at the situation." It was obvious, that this was done, due to the number of mods who showed up. No Biggie. Probably the right thing to do, since the thread was drifting. Shutting down the thread imo, was not the right thing to do.

I disagree with that entire comment VB...and think it is silly to say the least And don't understand why you should care at all..

It was a very relevant thread. It should be reopened. There are more updates to the story.

This part of your post, Value Buy, is what I was referring to in my answering post. I really can't respond to what you might feel about what should have happened. Your feelings, and your opinions are yours, not mine. The decision was made by those whose responsibility it is to make them.

Do you see youself as someone who is supposed to second guess the mods calls or decisions??? Where is this coming from? I thought it was a great thread. I asked if we could get a head count of liberals versus conservatives on the number of pm's and "report", so we could get a better understanding of how many thin skinned problem posters we have here. I was not asking for names, just the numbers behind the posters involved. Kind of like the after election poll questions asked by major media in key voting pricincts in the important elections, so they can call the election before the poll closes. After all, it was not me who claimed it was a new record

But you failed to post what Congressman Akin's Communication Director said to try and defuse this so called controversy being played out by Liberals who saw it as an opportunity to go after a Christian Conservative member of congress...it was much to do about nothing

Ok but what was accomplished with Lakhota's thread ..was it worthwhile or worthy of some further discussions?? I think NOT Most of the discussions were absurd
Do you really care about how many thin skinned posters we have here??

Your feelings, and your opinions are yours, not mine. The decision was made by those whose responsibility it is to make them. Okay, I see your point. All I did was agree with Lakhota about threads being shutdown. I believe the threads should be considered "safe", if of approved material, and the posters should be taken care of as necessary. Of course, if it is "secret" how a poster is taken care of, we should all be told this is how we are operating here. I see we have had several posters disappear, and lo and behold, a moderator let's it be known they are now history, in another thread days later. It never seems to be posted in the thread, that made them disappear. If someone is to be banned, I, and I believe, many others here, would prefer it happens in that thread. I am just not used to this type of operation, I guess.
