Obviously it was the deregulation and the Pub ENFORCEMENT that did that. You are from bizarre world Watch the news someday. Nite!
No Obviously it was cause by a bill that the Democrats pushed through. If they hadn't lowered the requirements then the whole mess wouldn't have happened. If you don't understand that then YOU live in a bizarre world. Actually I think from what you post you DO live in a bizarre world where everything you see somehow fits in with what you believe. As for watching the news, why? You know WHO changed the law & what the results were. Any news story that doesn't put the blame in the real cause is warped by a liberal viewpoint.

The only thing more laughable than the above statement was when someone on the now-defunct UK Politics board called The Wall Street Journal a "liberal rag."
LOL!
Conservative Republicans can't stand any source or site that disagrees with their opinion or, heaven forbid, actually gives proof that their opinions are just flat-out wrong. Sources and sites like that, including Snopes, are relegated to being a "paragon of smoke and mirrors" or, perhaps, a "liberal rag" and summarily dismissed irrespective of the facts.
However, rest assured that the very same people who flippantly disregard Snopes now will be the first people quoting from Snopes when that site says something in support of a conservative argument.
This game of musical sources is really quite amusing if one can keep up with it.
As for the topic of this thread, the fact that some conservatives seem to take great delight in hawkishly waiting for Obama to say something dubious is indicative of some form of obsessive disorder.
Perhaps some may remember when Obama claimed that his uncle liberated a concentration camp? The Republicans were all over this like bees on honey trying to paint Obama as a liar. In fact the brew-ha-ha over this went all the way to the chairman of the RNC, who stupidly claimed that "Obama's statement requires a re-evaluation of his entire administration." (quote is paraphrased).
As it turned out, Obama's uncle did, in fact, liberate a concentration camp. However, it was a great uncle, and for that, Obama was crucified. Yet, in my own family, having several surviving great uncles, never once in my life did I EVER call them by "great uncle Archie" or "great uncle Cecil." Nope, they were always just "uncle." How odd ...
Granted, Obama did name the wrong concentration camp, but all that proves is that he won't be teaching any classes on the Holocaust any time soon, but it was a far cry from the RNC's claim that Obama was issuing bald-faced lies.
Perhaps if the Republican party didn't try so hard in discrediting Obama, more people wouldn't see these clueless spin doctors in the same light as the lady who dost protests too much.

She was a parenthetical example (did you see the parenthesis?). The only witchhunt here is you overly nitpicking the article. Keep squinting real hard! Hey, everyone, let's play Makin' Birther Bacon! But you have to do it in at least a few steps (can't just blurt it out, you gotta ease the reader into it) Winner gets a year's supply of tin foil!

Hello, Kitty. I've been meaning to ask why you're running for president in 2012. Is it because you think you can screw thngs up worse than Obama has?
Where can I learn more about your platform?

Maybe it's because Kitty has a better chance of being elected as a Republican president in 2012 than Bachmann or Gingrich. Which is, in fact, true.

Seriously.. people can dislike another person's opinion, but how is that person to blame for words said by someone else? That is illogical..

Because Saul Alinsky said never stick to a distasteful subject when you can screw it around and divert everybody's attention away from it. And all liberals use Saul Alinsky's playbook. That's why all the fuss.

Why, that's a very good question, Marshabar, even though not in the way you think.
After all, the conservatives obviously believe this story was "fuss-worthy" else it would not have been posted to begin with.

No, Shrina. It was posted to get the truth out. Why is the truth so hard to swallow?

The "truth" really isn't what's relevant here. The motives behind such a thread, however, are VERY relevant.
The fuss, which is levied against the liberals despite the fact that conservatives are the ones raising cain over this issue, is just another example of conservatives being obsessively vitriolic.
I am truly sick to death watching the seeping of crocodile tears being shed by conservatives for soldiers, flood victims, and whomever else can be used as a political football. It's mildly bile-inducing reading this rubbish since every outpouring of sorrow, sympathy, or anger is accompanied by a litany of nonsense describing how it is the fault of a liberal or liberalism in general.
This has nothing to do with soldiers, their families, or feeling sympathy. It has everything to do with raping Obama's political credibility whenever the slightest opportunity arises. The conservative penchant for making Mt. Everests out of molehills is quite staggering and, to be succinctly honest, disgusting.

Remember that bizarre anecdote about "let's call it Acme Insurance" company he used at the health conference. ;D
Oooga booga cut off feet and breathalyzers. Honestly it goes on and on.
I get the feeling his life experience has been uniquely different from mine or anyone I've ever known. I get the feeling most Americans have the same sort of WTF reaction to his personal anecdotes.

Yes, the requirements may have been lowered, but those that engaged in that behavior preyed on those not savvy enough to know better, not that it is an excuse, but that's the only way they could get away with the things they did. These banks still had an obligation to protect its investors and in particular, not turn around and sell those same loans knowing they were risky. So basically it was greed. Read Wall Street and the Financial Crisis: Anatomy of a Financial Collapse, a report released by the Senate Subcommittee on Investigations. It is online and free, all 650 pages of it. levin.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/supporting/2011/PSI_WallStreetCrisis_041311.pdf

I believe protecting their investors was the reason behind selling the risky mortgages. The banks were just bumping them upstream to someone who had more political influence than 20,000 individua loan officers who had no choice and nowhere to turn to avoid any of it.
