Well, given my lack of knowledge I would say that the rate of extinction is very high.

Well then, my mistake - guess we should just keep rolling along then. Sorry.

I don't discount that humans can and do have a negative impact on the environment. However, knee jerk reactions are never a good thing. We should seek not to control things we don't understand.

Well, given my lack of knowledge I would say that the rate of extinction is very high. That humans have had a direct negative impact on our environment. That Humans have accelerated the rate of CO2 emissions, That humans have decreased biodiversity, have polluted and and looted our natural resources. According to you Dr. Pig, we humans should act as ostriches and put our head in the sand. This concept may be a bit to far outside the box for you but, did you ever consider that what humans do is also a part of nature. What other species has concern for another except as a possible food source.

Yea, I give it quite alot of thought. I do realize that lacking certain life in our own bodies (little crawlies) would prevent us from surviving. We live at the whim of virus and bacteria and our environment- either in balance or out. When imbalance sets in the higher form of life usually gets the boot in the end.

Im just saying, just because a few are opposed to the idea of global warming (athropomorphic climate change) means that we should avoid looking at it seems short sighted. We look for big chunks of rock that might obliterate us for what reason? We could just as easily forget about our future survival a let be whatever. So by denying climate change as partly our responsibility absolve us from blame? And so what if we let ourselves believe we are blameless - it moves us nowhere - it waistes our ability of our brains. Lets not worry that we may have triggered a black swan event. Lets not worry about drug resistant forms of life or environmental releases of toxic gases. It goes back to the old wall str5eet thinking - IBGYBG - I'll be gone you'll be gone - that has gotten us far has it not?

I am not suggesting that we try to cure something we know little about but, at least lets look out for the black swan that might end our conversations for good.

I have no issue with people discussing, studying and attempting to understand climate change.

What other species has concern for another except as a possible food source. That concept seems to be a difficult one for a lot of lefties. Many of them believe we (humans) exist only due to a series of random electrochemical accidents, thus negating any purpose to our lives other than seeking food and procreating. It's sad, and obviously very self-limiting...but it does give them an excuse to treat themselves and others like chattel rather than with the respect, majesty and dignity that God intended for us...

That concept seems to be a difficult one for a lot of lefties. It works both ways, be noble and include righties.

I do. I think both parties are terribly corrupt and will use this issue to further their own ends.

Both parties will use amy issue to further their own needs. Maybe the parties ought to think about the needs of the people that put them in. Civilization is the condition in which one generation pays the last generation’s debts by issuing bonds for the next generation to pay.

This would be great but the genie is already out of the bottle and it's too late to fix our broken system I'm afraid.

Im not much in for genie and her bottle. I think we have a lot broke and it can be fixed but, seems some things are not broke and everyone wants to fix that.

Until we can get more people to pay as much attention to the issues as they do to the single letter in parentheses, nothing will change.

Is it in our nature to self eliminate ? Or just a shortcoming of the human style of intellect. There are plenty of fiction works and others out there on the subject, so this is not a new idea. Just a thought.
